Glad to help.. it is fun to try and grow from seed, but division and buying plants is a much quicker way to get many hostas in your landscape.. but still worth doing if you have time and a place to grow them.. I do have some occasionally seed..

Hopefully your season is long enough to see the pods turn brown... I do not know if collecting the pods when green and letting dry works as well but sure would like to experiment with this some time..

Hi Janice, if you do the paper towel method some have done it in a week, it will just depend on how you plan to germinate, soil , heat , etc... the paper towel method works great for these...

I just checked the hosta garden and noticed the hostas in the areas that grow in the most shady areas have LOTS of seed pods. The hostas that grow in more sunny spots, however, have NO seed pods. Would love to grow an Azalea / Rhododendron / Hosta garden in the Spring. :)
