  • Growing hostas from seed can be very rewarding! Think about it, in just a few weeks you can end up with a whole bunch of little hosta plants! The best thing is you can collect these seeds yourself from your plants in the fall and add lots of new plants in the spring. It took my hosta seeds about 12 days to germinate from seed. I collected the seeds toward the end of November. Put them in a refrigerator for 7 days, then sowed the seeds. Some of the seeds germinated at different rates but you can see that in the video.

As you can see in the video almost any kind of container will work to start your seeds. The tin tray did a good job and it was helpful to have the plastic lid to use as a humidity dome. Use your imagination and you can start seeds in all kinds of containers. Re-use and recycle!

thank you for the sharing of these interesting information.I have just one question. You sad that the seeds need a 60 degres fahrenheit to get germinated , it means 15 degres celcius , is that right?
