When I have uncapped frames in supers, I sort them into supers of capped frames, and supers of uncapped frames. I then stack the boxes of uncapped supers and put a box fan on top to draw air through them in a room with a dehumidifier. It can take frames from 20% moisture down to 16% moisture in a few days. I also let the bees rob out the wet supers before storing them. Located in SW Ontario near Sheffield ON. We have freezing winters that kill wax moth eggs. No hive beetles yet!
hi Dave love your videos but what i dont get if you talk too much about lightening and so on very little about half way filled suppers and what to do with them,,,,sorry wasnt happy with this one...thanks
I put 10 deep and 10 supers together to include the 200 frames that came with my kits! It took me a few weeks a couple hours a day after work. Love watching your videos thanks!
When I am done pulling honey, I put a top board on and stack the honey boxes on top. The bees will clean out the honey and not put any in size they think the top board is the top of the hive,
Mr Burns I got a question for you every Foundationless Frame I have has comb that is not used or filled in... the cells are twice as big as a normal Foundation comb. All foundations are normal cells all non foundations are bigger cells why would they be making a frame and starting a new frame full of food that would be drones when it is September and then nighttime temperatures are in the 40s here... I just made a video posted it on my channel if you want to check it out that would be great I would really like some help on this because if they're not making drone brood in September then that means that the foundations are limiting the size of the cells tl which in return would make smaller larvae making smaller bees... if they are making drone comb and only adding them to the foundationless frames doesn't make sense
I personally want to thank you for helping each and everyone who are raising BEES. I've been watching your shows for sometime now and can't wait till your next show starts. Thanks David...Georgia raised
I consider myself a jack of all trades a master of none. I restore all cause I was a carpenter for 35 years I install ceramic tile and to have two old vehicles 1964 VW and a 1974 VW restored thanks David. You’re a great guy.
Dave, you sort of answered my question on what to due with partially filled frames come fall/ winter but not fully - right now i have 2 supers on and both are full but not fully capped, i moisture tested it and it is around 20%. what should i do with those frames? with it late in the year it seems they will not cap here soon (im in Deactur, IL) do i still pull and freeze them and store them for the winter or just them them. if i leave them can i / should i feed them?
TERRAMYCIN is more of a trademark name of a few antibiotics. The one used for controlling European foulbrood is Oxytetracycline. And it is mixed with powdered sugar, but it is now the LAW that you must have a vet diagnose your bees for EFB, in order to obtain oxytetracycline.
Absolutely true on having 1 hive vs another side by side with a big difference in mite count. Just did wash today and just 2 feet apart my 1st hive had 33 for an 11% infestation and the 2nd had 10 for a 3.33% infestation. Luckily the others were just shy of 3, but rising... Formic coming soon as it cools
I literally just got done checking my hives 30 minutes ago and noticed all of the honey supers have several half filled frames. I was thinking about spinning out what I can before storing them for the winter. Maybe check the moisture level and use it up first if it's high? Thanks for the videos! (I'm in Southern Oregon)
I'm hearing that I need to remove my super on my flow hive for the winter but I live in Louisiana and we might get few days it might get cold. Can I leave them on? Still learning thanks for your time and help. Andy
I had lightning ⚡ ⚡ Hit a transformer on the ground 20 feet in front of me. I had a white spot in vision for a few years. I was burnt like sunburn. The blast threw me and a friend on hour backs while crossing a busy road. The force blew out 1 mile of air conditioners and caused complete blackout. I was slightly in front of him. i was also severely sunburned and felt electrocution. This was when I lived in Sydney Australia. I'm petrified of lightning now and forever. My friend who was English tourist lost his mind and had to go back to England. The tree near the transformer was burned black without fire and it was smoking. Last thing I saw before hitting the ground was a white hot halo that lasted about 2 seconds. My muscles were spasming. I pray never again. The white spot in my vision has gone completely now. One foot closer and we both wouldn't be here now.
I fixed my old 13” cathode tube tv that was arcing by putting a bead of silicone caulk around the end of the tube. Continued working for another ten years
Me too, I would LOVE that so much, but whenever I veer just a tiny bit from beekeeping in a video, some viewers will get angry in the comment section. Believe me I've tried it.
In 2018, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. Just as I began the ridge of Priest Mountain, a thunderstorm began. The air cooled, wind increased, I was pelted with cold large drops of rain, and lightning and thunder surrounded me. There was no place to hide, so I kept walking as fast as I could on the slippery trail. I saw trees that were splintered and the smell of ozone enveloped me with fear. PS I enjoyed your commentary on the trades and fixing things.
Tell your ADT representative you want a Moose MPI-11 Siren driver connected to your system's control panel's siren output. It is loud enough to wake the dead any your neighbors over a mile away
Worst robbing season I’ve ever seen, I got hit with the local bee keepers bees today and I’ve never seen anything so devastating, I’m expecting to lose most of my 29 hives in next few weeks

At mid July any not capped frames I put together in one super and put on a strong active hive, they usually cap them all over.
Right on.

Usually it means they did not have the area needed to raise the amount of drones they wanted. I've seen the same thing.
you can put the super above your inner cover and put top cover on,, they will clean them out that way

Hi from UK, just watching you before I go to work today.
Thanks for watching! Maybe it will make the work day better 🤣
00:32:06 I wanted to know what used to hang at the coffee sign spot. The end of your video has the answer 😂

Hey David, I cowboyed up and did an alcohol test and both hives had around 0.5% mite infestation. Thank you

You are using the queen excluder I assume so I would not feel comfortable allowing the cluster to move up and leave the queen behind.

I was wondering if honey that tests less than 15% moisture is more likely to crystalize or not? Straight out of the hive mine tests just under 15%.
All honey has the potential to crystalize. The higher moisture level concerns us more with it fermenting.

Another fixer-upper!
I would like for u to do a video and show the bikes, and all the rest of the items u have restored I think that would be great. Have a great week.
