Seeing them play this at a rave on acid was probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced. I’m not even a raver. I play death metal music. LOL
I was rolling when I caught them in a tiny club. Mutual friends. Game changer for me in terms of live music on general. I had never seen someone live produce on a drum kit like that
@@eliaustin3745 Florida makes the best techno/electro music. It's so good the competition barely comes close. Seeing J&H do a live set is an experience. They throw these wild mixes that shouldn't necessarily work, and not only do they work, they sound amazing. It was one of the coolest shows ever imo.
Nobody else was live producing like this. Maybe rabbit in the moon. Baby Anne. simply the best. The rolls wore off but the tunes still hit hard @@eliaustin3745
Todd and Scott are what in my opinion my definition of what I would choose if I was asked what Florida electro should be... Clarity and vocoding and sampling by them is unlike anybody's basic opinion of electro... If anyone should ask where industrial electro came from it was from palm beach... Not Germany... My very first record was give it all you got...it was a hand me down from my sister's roommate that had stacks of them to infect the clubs and venues... I can guarantee to shut a party down with bass from jackal and hydroshocks tracks... The bass was unique in a way that could damage equipment if it wasn't enough to handle the bass and sampling that I think help put palm beach on the map as far as industrial electro goes....and if you didn't live there or experience a live set then you could never fckn understand what I mean..... ELECTRO REVOLUTION!
@@jasonlamarwarren81 Two guys. One was in dynamix ii back in the day, the other guy wasn't afaik. I could be mistaken though, but Im pretty sure only one of the dynamix guys is involved in jackal and hyde.
I saw them a few times but the first time was the most memorable, of course. It was New Orleans, either 2003 or 2004. It was amazing. I liked dynamix ii who I found somehow on the internet back then. Later I learned that they're still performing as Jackal and Hyde. My friends and I were planning on going to this show coming up, and when I looked at the lineup and saw they'd be performing. I had no idea what it would be like or if they had a big following. The DJ's that came on first were very good, but when Jackal and Hyde came out, the floor got packed, everybody closed in right up to the stage. They had some ambient type build up music at first while everyone was gathering around the stage, and once the music really kicked in, I was thinking, "this is the greatest show ever!" Incredible, unforgettable experience. A big fan ever since.
Just what I've been looking for this whole time man. Haven't heard music in awhile that I can just pick and I'll like it. In fact, these guys the first to make me say that. Now, time to figure out how to join them in it.
ur getting into it late . music has changed so much man. I remember when this came out.. shit I djd at a club the same night they have. real cool dudes. I don't know them but I have mad respect for them. I know peeps that have there whole sample library. check out old agent k and deuce. .. or agent k and j-break. funklab, dynamix 2, malicious Mike , baby Ann , Rick west ( r.i.p), dj trashy , dj rose , that's electro breaks at its fjnest from 2000 and on. oh and the track 2001 by viro and magic mike. Def check out dj viro ( he retired and owns syphonic distribution now. malicious Mike doesn't dj anymore. agent k runs his label "digital records" j break I think is taking time off ( I bought a 100 vinyl off him for $263.. check out dj fixx.. he's from new york. he had a cd i used to always play from track 1 and let it ride. breakbeats are still kicking ass. it's just different now. nothing bad. drugs are diffferent..clothes and clubs and slag is different. music programs are differnt. check out progressive breaks. ( "hybrid" is a huge part of that... my mind stopped at them.) I love progressive breaks. it's deep and a different type of aggressivness. let me know if u check out any of those. I'm a house dj now.. ( mainly ) I have some Facebook groups I admin. "djs/producers" "Tampa ableton" " producer networking group" " tampa techno" and my artist page dj punjab. if you get into production and want to be around producers then that's a start. go to the clubs...meet and greet the people that are doing it. my boy doctor boom has his label and he's younger then me (32) he's like 25 or something. runs a bad ass record label and plays at some of the biggest clubs in Tampa florida. shits crazy. he's a tech house /house dj. just be yourself man. don't do things cause someone else is doing it.
You're never too late. Try to learn how they did this using mostly just two turntables and a mixer. Mostly. Computers didn't exist in the way we think of them. Beat boxes and synths. Record the beat and hooks onto vinyl and then mix it with a duplicate record while bringing in the previous song and introducing the next. All in two to three minutes.
Great shit!!!!🎉🎉

There's nothing else quite like experiencing a JnH live show.
@@Tony_Cardoza agreed, and I've been to ton of shows
@@inthekingdom1996 I'd like to go to another. It's been a long time.
So I found this on a CD that a friend gave me by somebody called DJ blade. This is amazing!
This is the best electro music ever made: West Palm Beach's Jackal and Hyde

My first jackal and hyde experience was Seance 2 at Studio (157? 182?) That was my best party, tied with Enamored in Gainesville, FL.
