That's UK justice for you. After all the investigation, time, and money spent by police and the courts eventually allow him to serve only five years. Incredible! This actually encourages people to get into crime, after all, what is the punishment or rehabilitation?

I constantly see people in England (and Australia) receiving only 5 or 10 years for premeditated murder. I'm no a fan of extremely excessive prison sentences. Once someone proves themselves to be a complete and utter psychopath, I feel they deserve to be punished more harshly, though. Then there's what some call "rough justice", as well: It would only take 1 or 2 gallons of gasoline to make the man above disappear forever.

Latest news from France in this case which becomes more confusing each day. Since March 2023 there have been concerns about the kennel & visited by Inspectors. The lady Mayor of the very small village over at least 3 years has raised concerns with Prefecture & Police with no results. It is reported by over, say, the last year he was "away most of the time returning rarely to house.
She was, in effect, free to leave 'which complicates kidnapping charge again!) After Netflix film two villagers contacted producers to report it maybe her there. There WERE two emotional separate reunions in France with her son & daughter not long ago. Slowly she began to "distance" herself from Freegard. She was still reluctant to leave but eventually agreed if Beagle dogs were re housed. The French SPA did this and found they were in very poor condition. But it seems she was in house when inspectors visited and probably called him on his portable. Clearly he was not far away and returned quickly. It begs the question had he found yet ANOTHER lonely vulnerable victim nearly and is taking refuge with her? The car maybe concealed in the grange or garage.
It seems very possible as he would soon be located in rural France driving noticeable blue AUDI A3 on British plates and , being so devious & cunning, it could be he prepared an escape route. Strangely Police have still NOT published Freegard's most recent photo or registration number of AUDI !!
The Deputy for Creuse department has complained that the authorities have not acted correctly throughout despite complaints of villagers & Mayor. The mystery, I repeat, how he could maintain a British car in France over years without obligation to change registration and to exchange driving licence to French one. Clearly it was not insured. Also they needed to have new Resident Permits, register to pay tax, show sufficient resources, register with health service, open bank accounts etc. None of this apparently happened since 2016! Yet they were selling expensive Beagle puppies on line (and known to other local French breeders) and he was retaining the profits once again paying no tax.. All this while she is alleged by neighbour to eat only mushrooms & pet food. She was, no surprise, said to be emancipated in a bad state. This is modern France to day. Everybody minds their own business and not much humanity & kindness. In fact he chose the location very well, but again I ask how did he obtain the tenancy? The French are very selective and insist on many documents proving solvability , references, and especially from foreigners a guarantee to pay the rent.
It should be noted with his terrible history & conviction if the French had made discreet enquiries with British Police (normally effected on criminal record check when applying for Post Brexit Resident Permit application) all would have been divulged and the couple deported home to UK. The Chief of Gendarmes still protests they did nothing wrong !!?

It’s the mind power a sociopath has over their victims. Until you have experienced it, it’s hard to understand. These predators can sell ice to eskimos and many have fooled experienced business men, not just women who were looking for love.

      @specialtwice4975 Рік тому +2

The girl, Sarah?, did ask "Are you really?", and the con guy kept repeating "I'm a spy, Im a spy, I'm a spy".
As the comment above says, you don't truly know what's it's like until you meet one, a psychopath.
I dated one, thankfully I wasn't conned for money, just love, but still.
They can con you out of anything, they could steal a car and sell it to you like it's theirs. They are that crafty and smart, and depending on the psychopath, that resourceful.
They are creatures of need thankfully and so this guy needed to keep conning, which got him caught and shown to the public.
How to detect manipulation, how to read body language, how to read rooms, etc, should be taught in schools tbh, but instead we learn math we'll never use and read books to write essays that won't matter in 10 years unless you get a doctorate.

These were girls from families with money and they had professional goals or were professionals. They weren't poor economically or girls working as waitresses. And to get to college here, you have to have taken classes that prepare you for college. The men in these programs about conning women seem to target women who are impressed by money and class or the aura of it.
And he used flattery and he is said to be good at sex. Not many working-class girls here. He didn't want them. He wanted women with money or family money. I suppose you could get a working class woman to work the streets or something to support you, or have her share her welfare check and make room for him in her flat, but this guy had a different approach. And he debased the women and the guy and he enjoyed it along with the large sum of money he got. Nasty guy. He was not a student or a professional and he enjoyed going after them.
I would find agriculture exciting and living in a village fun, so we are all different.

For a more satisfying sequel : he was at it again on another Brit woman, got her to run for him a dog pension of sorts in France. Rather opportunistically, early 2022 some people in the village watch the French version of The Puppet Master film, the neighbours click, involve the local maire who tries to get the local 'gendarmes' involved, those morons refuse (so fair enough if 2 of them get a bit shaken later on), the maire calls upon the ' procureur de la République', he gets the cops to move their arse, these go to have a closer look at the dogs' poor conditions (agree on that, but methink humans should get nearly-equal consideration), that bastard gets warned somehow and turns up while they're there (end Aug. 22), then tries to get away, in the proceeds bumps into 2 'gendarmes' (that's military, as opposed to Interior for cops), runs to Belgium, The French put an Interpol call on him, he gets caught in Belgium (Sept. 2), gets handed to the French (Oct. 17), currently rotting in a lockup in Limoges (in France, so we down here are paying for that fucker's nosh & bedding), and not likely to get away with it for a mere 5 yrs' run coz bumping the 2 uniforms is called "double attempted murder on persons representing the Public Authority", note the capitals coz they automatically double the sentence; so even if you don't really harm them (21 days and 6 days off-work, they got away much lighter than any of his other victims) it's not so easily swallowed as totally fucking up x amount of lambda people's lives. Possible film sequel to The Puppet Master with 2 film makers, 1 UK + 1 Fr, visiting the (ex-)neighbours in Dec 22.
This is a quick summary, for ex. in reality the French neighbours and the village mayor started trying to act since end 2018. Simplifying things here somewhat.
*edit P.S.: No he - again - won't get done for kidnapping, abuse a.s.o.. Just for the double attempted murder. Hopefully that'll be enough to do him for life. The funny bit is, he doesn't speak French so the court case should be fun. He'll sure have time to learn it in the nick.

33:40 No, it's not that he didn't understand that the victims had families that cared about them. He understood that; BUT in his extreme narcissistic mind, all these people were as dumb as sheep. In his mind, he was so utterly superior to everyone, including their families. That's how narcissists think. It's also how they get caught. I don't know why he gave his victim's father's number as a character reference; I wonder if it's bc the victim herself had persuaded him that her father was okay with him, and of course, the narcissist believed it.

Later, I thought "well, she could be" but if she is, I'm not impressed, not interested, & I want to distance myself from her because she's: a) a liar; or b) a spy, & I don't want any dangerous complications in my life.

Long term residence and certainly permanent French residents are obliged by law to exchange their UK licence for a French one. This is a long quite complicated online administrative process demanding proof of validity of UK DLA Licence.
To buy a car in France requires one to produce ID, assurance to ones Prefecture. It is a through administrative process. Finally the question of his payment of local tax depending if he was owning or renting in France. They were known about by the villagers & small Marie so its difficult to imagine they did not pay same and the noise from their dog breeding business /advertising must have made them noted ? from his How did he comply with all this?
