....epic classic movie!!!!...great soundtrack ....inspirational and sexy too........man that chic was hot....had a u know what with her as a young teen!!!!😊
I remember one christmas break, we had wrestling practice with the gym to ourselves. We had a track on the balcony level that we'd run laps around. We turned the gym lights off and cranked this song up and ran in the low glow of the emergency exit lights. For a bunch of teen kids, it was epic. And so was this movie.
This song is so great. A lot of people don't understand the ultra important concepts behind the sheer GREATNESS of this song and the driven attitude of Louden Swain in "Vision Quest."
Guitarist Tom Cochrane wrote the song after becoming concerned about a resurgence of anti-Semitism in the 1970s, and was also inspired after reading a book about Raoul Wallenberg, who rescued Jews from The Holocaust during World War II. So the ultra important concept would be 'just say no to anti-Semitism.'
GOD I love this movie. I still get chills 25 years after wrestling. My coach used to play this for us every year before we started. Makes you want to straight kick ass.
This song reminds me of way back in the eighties when I was just a kid, probably around 11 or 12. Our school sucked bad at high school football. All surrounding counties knew it and they must have fought over us to play them at their homecoming as it was a guaranteed victory. For some reason, this football coach, of a few towns up from us, ran the score up on us pretty badly. They were a bigger school than us. He never put any second stringers in. Played us into the dirt, something like 70 to 0 (no joke). When wrestling season rolled around, we had a Senior who had been to state and won the year before. I think he missed the year before that due to injury. Anyway, this guy was a bad ass. He was carved from stone. Our wrestling team had a meet at the same school that ran that football score up on us. In front of both schools he wrestled their best wrestler who supposedly was pretty well known too. Our guy twisted this other guy into a pretzel and then kept letting him up before the count. I can’t remember how many times he did it but he kept doing it. He’d slam the guy upside down, pin him and then let go. Our side cheered so loud I thought it was going to blow my ears out. The other team booed so loud, same thing. I didn’t know much about wrestling (still don’t) but I remember people on our side, at first, yelling “what are you doing” when he’d let the kid up. After a few times every knew what he was doing and I must say, it was freaking awesome. This was well over 30 years ago and people still talk about it where I live.
grayboo212.... That is a cool story...a Man after my own heart... thanks for sharing that... I'm very depressed....that story made me smile and laugh.... thanks for sharing... too cool... Eric Underwood class of 81 Downey High School.... undefeated in league...3 years in a row
Remember this movie like it was yesterday and its what, about 30yr old now. Went to go see this a couple of days before Marine Corps Boot Camp, Also went to Quiet Riot Concert the next night. Was just trying to jam in as much as I could before the yellow footprints...lol. Damn I use to hear older people back then always talk about time passing...now I'm one of them.
did he ever get the 6 MINUTE SPEECH? my younger cousin watched this movie when it came out and it really motivated him to wrestle at a lower weight class. he joined the Marines while I was in the Active Duty Army and then Army National Guard. he retired as a Gunnery Sergeant and I retired as a Colonel at 54 years old and Josh at 42. his youngest son wrestles now at 6' 5" and 225 pounds and still growing at the age of 16
