- Written, directed and co-produced by Alex Warren, “Losing the West” is a documentary about the protection of open space and agricultural lands, as told through eyes of Coloradan Howard Linscott-a gruff, chain-smoking 70-year-old native american cowboy.
This is my uncle Howard linscott.. proud of his wisdom and humble streanth.. wish more people seen the world this way
I really enjoyed this beautifully depicted and compelling documentary set to the back drop of my favourite place in the world (Colorado)🌄 What a legendary man. I have always ridden horses but since I began travelling to the Mid-Western States in 2018, my perception of my own country (England) has changed forever. The ranching lifestyle, big skies, magnificent mountains and vast expanses of untamed wilderness is something that, sadly can not be replicated and does not exist here (and is an iconic symbol of the American West) which, has ignited a very deep passion in my heart for the States. I know that, ranching is gradually changing but I really hope it continues to be a legacy and tradition of the great wild west and although, this lifestyle is one of persistent dedication, endurance, dogged determination and extremely hard physical work, it is the kind of work that, leaves a person's heart and spirit truly contented and fulfilled🐎❤️🐎
This captured my heart, Seeing, and hearing what these men do remind me of the thing we take for granted when really we should value and treasure even to keeping it alive especially important for future survival.
Really enjoyed this documentary. Very sorry to hear that he has passed. True American original. Happy Trails Howard!
Great documentary, shows the importance of what farmers do!!! We never get talked about and this kind of stuff needs to be showed!!!
How many times have I rode that Courthouse Trail on a good mule elk hunting .. Green Mtn , Sneva Mtn , Red Creek ... hunting the burn on Owl Creek side ... yes, great country ... and a wonderful video ..
Onward and Upward is the watchword.
God Bless Him and his family. Thank you for your contribution to this world
I have known a few tough old boys in the saddle in my lifetime and they all taught the same thing by example; it's called discipline, they had lots of it.
Cowboys don´t die. They become stars up in heav´n!
Thank God for the cowboys!
I love this film!
Excellent documentary

soo good!! dang I wish i could have met the man
This was a great show.
It happens to be a sad story that the past of the old west has turned into bygones..
., and simply reminiscences..
., .
Cowboys life is good and the best part of America. Thanks
In all United states the cowboys Word, the lands, the mountains, the prairies, the deserts, the indians is all i love in there
Amazing and sad at the same time.

We're going to miss people like these in the film when the food shortages happen in the future.
Coming soon!
So glade to see the pics of howard in younger days he has such long face i couldent even imagin what he would of looked like he had a varry memorable face you could of picked him out on a cruse
Pity there´s no CC enabled for us hard of hearing...
Ridgway Colorado is the finest place on the planet
Holistic Management decision making process can make sure conflicts are avoided between all interests.
No mention of vaqueros. Literally what made the cowboy.
Muy cierto
I live in the state of Illinois, and they do the same here with the farm land. They develop the farm land. Some of the richest best soil gone
It should never cost millions and millions of dollars to farm or ranch .
Some of the best farmland getting paved over. A rich black color of soil gpne I see it here in Illinois.
Yuppies will be pushy. They ran out the big begonia nursery that had been there in Santa Cruz, complaining about the stacks of pots and lathhouses. They used to get begonias and fuscias for about a dollar each. Not any more. This is a great video. Thank you. I hope you keep on somewhere.
Counties should shut it down! No more development period and the residents should spearhead it!
Greed they have won’t allow it. What they need to do is stop selling two out of country buyers for land development.
Im inlove with imhis grandoughter. With good looking girl with work ethic like that gosh id love to get to know her to bad ive got a farm in mass
I love billy he's a cool cowboy! Loose the belly but not the buldge billy.billy.billy. nice!
true cowboy
Hello there. It's already happened here. All the small village's are towns now and getting bigger. People come up from the south where the money is in the city. They buy up all the properties because they can afford it. It just ducks it up for the locals.
You have a old howard cowboy in every bisness ive found them in farming ive met them in iron working and carpentry. Tree work mabe some day ill be that guy except il never b a real cowboy
Thanks for a thoughtful film.
Long live the cowboy
Would give anything to have a horse living on land like that
Anybody w a yard could plant a garden.
I feel for you guys! The hardest working people. Funny story about the cat "ike". I get that we need meat. ISO 9000 would be wise to heartily launch the reality of animal welfare in to the cost of meat over a worldwide agreement of standardized treatment of farm animals... where ALL meat industry producers have to wake up. And it's going to happen with proliferation of drone oversight. I don't want more government regulation. than the next guy. However, subsidies for animal welfare need to come to the fore (if) meat industry cannot self-regulate and come up clean on far better treatment of animals. The cost of meat shall go up, along with standards, employees wage, work conditions, and here come the subsidies to do it. I can afford to pay more for humanly raised meat. I've raised my own. But many cannot. This means in the next 20 years we get cultured lab grown meat (if) meat producers don't wake up. So go ahead and enjoy the last days of branding and castrating, kicking downers, and all the other atrocities inflicted upon your brethren animals. The halcyon days of extreme neglect in factory farming will be coming to an end by the time the wave of Millenniials have a thing to say about it.
There are too cowboys. They aren't done just yet.
BOI HOW IS THIS AD ONE HOUR LONG?!
It’s one hour and 30 minutes long, lol
These comments make no sense at all. It's a documentary feature film, not an advertisement.
That's all you got out of this.
@@museluvr bruh i made that comment 4 years ago💀💀 calm your tits
I think it's sad to see the rich farmland get paved over.
The first cowboys were from Florida !!!!
Did he just stub out his cigarette with his fingers and then throw it on the ground at 2:53? Bad.
That’s how I do it too. You will be ok shake it off
Good live to eat steak every mornuming
You moved there...tough shit! Move out if you don’t like it! It’s high time the country people put politeness aside and not only said “no” but “hell no!”
These city people are ruining the west! Montana, Idaho, Wyoming are the next to fall!
That’s a historical site, should be named as such, and prohibit any new construction or change (aside from maintenance) to the livery stable! Damn the owner! AND every other CS’r that com0lained and pushed for the exit of this ‘legend’ and his friends!
Isn't that amazing, that the new people move in, and then complain about the horse manure smell!
This country is all about money
Curb
Oh OK. It's genetic
?
