Because Mardi Gras is popular in New Orleans. During the big parades, elaborate "floats" drive down the street with people on them throwing beads and other trinkets to the crowd. Since Drew Brees is the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, it's funny that he is actually driving a float in this commercial as if it's a normal car that people drive.
