There was a joke going around when these sets came out that every blu ray released after the set would include a copy of Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein...
Wow...never seen? Your missing out... These are wonderful to watch on a weekend.
The reason you get multiple discs of the same films in some sets is because the characters who star in those films should be included in their own respective sets. So if you bought the individual sets, you should have every movie included where the character is in the movie.
Lon Chaney Sr. was in the 1925 Phantom of the Opera (not included in the set), and the 1943 Phantom of the Opera was portrayed by Claude Rains who also portrays The Invisible Man. Lon Chaney Sr.’s son, (Lon Chaney Jr.), would later go on to play multiple roles from the universal monster movies, such as The Wolfman, Frankenstein (The Ghost of Frankenstein), The Mummy (The Mummy’s Ghost) and Dracula (Son of Dracula). He also has a couple of supporting roles in the more notable universal monster movies.
Boris Karloff only portrayed The Mummy once in the original film and had sequels that weren’t related to the original movie (story wise), which were portrayed by other actors. (Trash sequels in my opinion).
The sequels are not that bad, still better than most movies made today
frank west it’s kind of weird replying to a 7 month old comment but oh well. I actually meant the mummy sequels were trash, that’s why I mentioned it at the end of the subject I was speaking about. But besides that, I actually enjoy the other universal monsters sequels. Some of them are considered classics, like The Bride of Frankenstein and Son of Frankenstein.
I don't like that they included two copies of Abbot And Costello Meet Frankenstein. One copy is enough, the other will collect dust. Universal wasn't using their head when they designed this set.
Listening to you talking about the monsters and the actors brought back the frustration I felt trying to explain them to my daughter when she was 5 lol
Yea these are the original versions released in theaters sorry I’m a little late but yes all these films are completely restored

I wish phantom was the original silent version and all versions of phantom...I even like the phantom version that Robert englund did.
and Hammer's w/Herbert Lom as The Phantom of the Opera was pretty good too, I thought. That's available on a Hammer set put out by Universal Home Video & I believe the 1925 silent is from Universal- too bad they couldn't include these two w/the Claude Rains '43 version?
does all the disc work good because i got creature from the black lagoon legacy collection blu ray seperate and disc keep on skiping if all the disc work good on

Looks like you got a misprint copy of The Wolfman Blu-ray set because other copies I’ve seen of that set have the info printed inside with the runtimes just like the others in the set did yours was blank in the inside interior artwork for some reason. Not sure if that’s an issue that was with multiple copies or just yours
I think for this specific set, they should remove the repeats, and take some of ones that share a disc and have their own discs.

Do pardon me making a comment on an old video but is this set worth picking up for someone who hasn't seen the original Universal Monster movies? I ask because the DVD set is $107 atm and I want to buy something to pull out for the month of October and it's either this or the complete series of Tales From The Crypt.
Are all the movies subtitled in french ?
So I have no knowledge of the Phantom of the Opera films. However, isn't the Lon Chaney version the one that is used for toys etc? So why does the set have a different version? Also, has Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde been released on blu?

I’ve hesitated on this for like 2 years now and have always passed when it gets down this low in price, but I finally did it for $70 this year, looking forward to seeing them.
For $70, that's about $2.30/Movie. And that's for Blu-ray. I say that's pretty good.

To get the cases out easier...tilt the opening of the box towards you and bob the box set till they start to slide out and then pull one of the cases out from the top.
How do I boil water and make ice?
Here is a tip on handling bluray cases...there is holes in the case under the paper inlay. Take a visual inspection of all of the holes. When you press with your fingers and thumbs into the areas where the holes lie underneath...you will crimp in your paper inlay and it will like that forever and there is no way of undoing it. You must learn not to touch those areas of the case with your fingers and thumbs to prevent crimping.
I have the DVD set of this and i LOVE IT!!! I haven’t had time to look, so PLEASE help me out! Does this set have the same special features that are on the 6 Movie set from WalMart? The discs and menus look the same, just wondering if All those features and documentaries are on this big set.

As far as I know, yes. The only difference is that the picture quality is 1080p because it’s Blu-ray
Thanks. I don’t care about picture quality, I’m not one of those quality nazis that needs to upgrade everytime a newer definition is out. I still have DVDs I got 19 years ago that I still watch. I was just wondering about this because I was going to send a friend my 6-movie set since I got the 30-movie set, which I did end up sending him because I saw it was all the same. And my 30 movie set is DVDs

They’ve been including Lon Chaney Phantom in ALL the promo regarding universal Monsters recently and he’s personally my Favorite UNIVERSAL MONSTER right before Frankenstein’s monster himself. Shame he’s not included in this case.

Why is it black and white?
It's because the movies were filmed in black and white, so it makes sense for the video to be like the Universal Monsters movies.

Maybe because These movies are actually Old, And old movies are actually Black and White, These movies came out Way before Hollywood started making movies in color But The First color movie if I remember correctly is actually The Wizard of OZ
