These two videos alone have taught me so much about posing. I love photography and have been doing it professionally for about 6 years but never figured out how to pose in a simple way that moved the shoot along faster and more effectively. I love this. Thank you.
This is the best posing video I have ever seen. It teaches the photographer how to direct the subjects, not what is a good pose. In my business I have been doing these *exact* 5 poses for 15 years. This tutorial has taught me how to more effectively and efficiently direct my clients. I am confident I will be able to do a 60 minute job in only 30 minutes. The next task is to choreograph these poses in to a 20 or 40 pose "dance", with each pose flowing beautifully into the next. It will feel natural to the client and make beautiful work.
I have been shooting for years but watching this gave me so many tips. Now I feel like I’ve missed out on shots by saying the classic “act natural.” THANK YOU so much for this. So helpful!
Thank you! I'm not a photographer but I needed a tutorial for my husband and myself posing for pictures at social functions, galas etc. without looking like two sticks.
Thank you so much for this. This is probably the simplest, most intuitive way I have heard posing explained, and it really helps when trying to pose inexperienced clients!
This is just... brilliant, for lack of a more sophisticated term. I am no professional photographer, and my best friend asked if I would take some photos of him and his girlfriend. This is definitely going to help me in a couple of weeks. Thank you for the amazing tutorial.
I'm a beginner to photographer ... really watching your videos, I feel very good and can apply in practice ... Thank you for sharing my experiences around the world.
Thank you so much for this video. A couple of friends of mine really like my photography and they asked me to take their pre-wedding pictures. Are usually don't take any photos of people, so I was really nervous. But this tutorial is very helpful. I hope I will do this lovely couple justice.
That was excellent. Not sure I would ever have figured that out on my own. Will be very useful. The couple seemed very cooperative as well, knowing exactly what you wanted.
Simple ideas to get the couple to get used to the photographer and pose for the camera. thank you, looking forward to the series, you've earned yourself a subscriber from the UK !
Love this needed this! I’ve always wondering the importance of a visible hand or arm. I’ve noticed how some people don’t let a hand come out of no where unless you can see the arm and able to track it. I was wondering what’s the guide line on that
Posing couples with without doubt the weakest part of my biz. Great video and looking forward to the next part. (Not sure why there are 18 thumbs down on this).
This was awesome, thank you. I'm not comfortable in front of the camera unless I've had a few drinks and we're renewing our vows. This will really help!
These are all processed using our presets (www.vfpresets.com). However, you can get to the same look by maximizing dynamic range in the scene and adjusting your colors, contrast, and exposure in Lightroom.
Was there external light used? The final processed images have quite a bit additional exposure on the subjects. Guessing you didn't want to completely blow out the sky and curious if the final, beautifully-exposed images are due to post or if there was additional external (even reflector) light. 🤔

It's true what they say. The pros make it look easy. Thanks Pye, for breaking this down for us. Great lesson.
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it useful.

Amazing, communication is key to being efficient and teaching them useful terms will make them feel more actively participating.

Pye, that was VERY helpful for those of us who are just getting comfortable with portrait photography. THANK YOU!!
This is a terrific lesson. One question: why do you leave so much space on top of images, especially full length?
Thank you so much for this video. A couple of friends of mine really like my photography and they asked me to take their pre-wedding pictures. Are usually don't take any photos of people, so I was really nervous. But this tutorial is very helpful. I hope I will do this lovely couple justice.

Modern > HDR = blown away sky highlights.
The sky wasn’t the focus of the image
That was excellent. Not sure I would ever have figured that out on my own. Will be very useful. The couple seemed very cooperative as well, knowing exactly what you wanted.

Agree with you this is my weak part posing. I can't find nothing on bride poses for when you doing a bridal session
This was awesome, thank you. I'm not comfortable in front of the camera unless I've had a few drinks and we're renewing our vows. This will really help!
