Matt, you always give us the juice on whatever topic you choose and this one is no different. We really appreciate what you and Tim do for us weekend bassers, thank you.
Matt you and Tim are the best, in mid January I had my 17th surgery since 1999,and of course it was my 2nd right shoulder surgery, I haven't fish in 8 weeks, struggling to be patent, I remember the videos you did after the accident you z nd your pops where involved in,just way to thank you and tim,for going beyond just the fishing aspect of being on the water,it's spiritual, it's home, just the emotional side of all of it,being thankful for every fish, every mishap, everything that can happen, even on the best of days, blessings to you and tim, tactical is truly an amazing source of information and I share it with everyone I can, keep up the great job.
I’d love if another subscriber could make a spreadsheet of all this tactical bassin info.. like if we could get summer, fall, winter, and spring folders with all the baits you guys recommend in the folders with colors and brands..... holy hell we’d all be slayin. The problem with your guys’ videos is that you give SO MUCH info and there’s no way I can remember it all. Keep up the great work Tactical Bassin.
Look at their playlists. They’re divided by seasons. Just go back to 2019, they downsized the amount of baits recommended. You can see in the title what baits they’re discussing since they don’t do the typical clickbait crap so many others do.
Spring 2019 was my best early season bass fishing yet, mostly due to TBs video about red cranks. We're about 2 weeks from kicking off again and I'm fired up!
You guys are gonna convert me, I’m not a huge fan of Crankbaits. However with the videos you have been releasing it’s convinced me to step out of my comfort zone of single hook baits and topwaters. I’ve gone out and picked up a Mojo Glass Big Crankster and a SLX DC so I can bomb cranks in wind with ease. This free content is expensive in the long run lol.
I don’t know if u consulted with a teacher/instructor for ur video content, but I’ve LOVED the content layout this past year. Previous years had great info as well but, like other channels, it felt kinda random. Especially when I was still trying to make heads or tails of the very basics in 2018. You guys did a great job of showing a broad overview at the beginning of seasons, then diving in to greater detail on specific lures in subsequent videos before tying it all back together before moving on to the next season. I wish I had that when I was watching so many of everyone’s videos in 2018.,.might have kept my eyes from crossing and my head from spinning. 😜 You guys really nailed it. I love the information given and I really enjoy seeing the quality of your work grow as fast as the number of subscribers. Keep it up!
this video comes at the perfect time for me. this year i really want to work on my cracking. the last few years I've really sucked it up on it. so this info really hits it home. now i just need to get time to get out there where there more than half an inch of visibility. rains for the last 2 weeks and flood conditions. really makes it hard
Thanx Matt!!! I just went out fishing with a red eye crank after watching your vid the other day and caught my PB 6.1lbs!! Man Im stoked about using red now!!!
I agree 100% with you. This will be the year of the crankbait. I think so many people have abandoned the crankbait to fish a swimbait that the fish just don't see it as much and it's sort of like a new presentation. Thanks again for all your great content.
GreenPig Hunter I just picked one up at our fishing show. I’m pretty sure they’ve been discontinued. Out MB dealer had them on sale for $10. Probably should have bought more than 1 lol anyways, I was wondering could you say how deep it goes? Thanks in advance
What an interesting incredible video you put together for us rookies, specially Myself, I been Bass fishing for only 5-6 years and I’m 56 years old! This Video is Filet Mignon Man!! Thanks so much again and please keep’em coming!
Matt I appreciate all the info that you and Tim put out yall have really helped my bass fishing and watching your vids have really improved my hookup ratio, yall are really doing a great service for the avid fisherman and there is something I would like to see is how yall two would break down a power plant lake to increase my hookups on my power plant lake
Bro, I really enjoy your videos!! I find them to be very helpful and am always amazed by the fish y'all land. The most amazing thing of all is how you handle those treble hooks without a scratch, my hands would be so ate up! You guys are doing a great job, thank you!
I really appreciate all the work you guys put into these videos! I watch every one and it has me itchin to get out and catch some when the weather cooperates
Chase schumer no doubt.. it’s 36 and been snowing off and on here in southern Indiana and I’m debating shoveling my boat off and getting out on Monroe after class
Matt "parabolic action"...Me..."OH Bendy"! Got it! Awesome as always Matt, Idaho's gonna warm up someday, can't wait to try some of these tips, thanx again!!
First day on the lake last week with my new R2S Tacticall DD crank and it got snagged. I tried getting it out with my lure retrievers but had no success. I was pretty pissed. $16 down the drain but oh well glad I bought 2!!
I love Crankbaits! They are so much fun to fish with, and they catch fish like crazzy! Get excited just thinking of them. Still freezing in St. Louis though so fishing deep with them is trouble off the bank.
Wow!!! I wish you guys would have been my teachers in high school. You guys have a special way of explaining things that is so easy to understand. I’ve taken every video out fishing and have hooked up on fish like never before. Couldn’t live without these videos. You’ll have changed bass fishing for me forever. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with me
Rock crawler is a really good bait. I use the 6th sense a lot too. However, I grew up fishing the cotton cordell Big O. And I still catch a ton of fish on them now. Excited to try the new Berkley frittside as well. Great video as always guys.
Your color selection is so simple! Love the simplicity of it. I know the clear "ghost" colors for clear water, the "bold" color for stained or dirty water, but what is the"flashy" or "chrome" used for??? Love the videos and I have started to a similar system with my baits but I never throw chrome... When do you typically pull out those colors? What condition makes you go chrome??
I've never really gotten into any type of crank bait fishing...being a lake/pond shore guy I just can't afford losing baits like I usually do frankly I rarely use anything with treble hooks other than too water and maybe a jerk bait. Thanks. love the channel.

Great information. I fish from the riverbank here in fredericton New Brunswick Canada. I have used shallow squares bill crankbaits in our river before. I was wondering if I could use medium to deep diving crankbaits in medium depth river. Our saint John river is deep and wide as the longest dragstrip. Our other river is the nashwaak river and it not that deep or wide and I fish it more. Deep diving crankbaits on a smaller river are a good thing or bad thing. People can use boat up to 25 feet on the the nashwaak river.

I know he’s said he usually throws jerkbaits and crankbaits on straight fluoro with the exception of when he’s wanting a crankbaits to stop and go on a dime, which is when he’ll throw braid to mono leader. A lot of people say that about the hooks. I throw DT6's and DT10's a lot. May I ask why you say that? I catch fish after fish on DTs. Good hook/land ratio. (I'm not saying the hooks are the best quality by any means, but they dont seem to be as bad to me as you say. Thoughts brotha?

You talk about throwing red because of crawdads. What happens if I don’t have crawdads in my lake? Should I still throw it or stay with the other colors? Thanks guys
I’m sure this has been answered before, but does anyone know why Tim and Matt recommend high gear ratio rods for crank baits. Seems like most ppl recommend slower ratios to get the baits down. Is it just for burning crankbaits when needed?
What do you recommend if the water is orange from hard rain over red clay dirt? Our lakes are a mess from the heavy rain all winter. Water levels are fluctuating but the color remains orange!
ahhh, cup of coffee and crankin' vids, gonna be a good day!
yes sir

Thanks Matt for all you do. I was just wondering how long of a leader do you recommend for 3-4ft visibility in the water?
I saw a video that said that fish see 3 or more times further than we do underwater, so I think 10-12 feet would be OK.

Great content!!
Have you guys experimented with the VMC bladed treble hooks yet?
Just curious if you ever tried the Greenfish tackle G2 squarebill crank. Looks like a solid silent squarebill but before I drop $20 on one, was wondering if either of you had opinions on it. Thanks.
Im a bit confused, under the large crankbait combo its recommended that a zodias 7'6" glass rod would suffice
does that mean it works well for 2 oz cranks like the Lucky craft magnum 110 or is the Extra heavy zodias the recommnded rod for that application.
what about using tfo tactical elite rods for crankbaits
We throw that RK55 here on table rock, Bull shoals, etc all winter and spring and it wins tournaments. BUT, check out the HEADHUNTER crankbaits that are a clone of the RK55. Made here in MO I think by the founder of lucky strike. Awesome colors, half the price, runs true.
Do you always use a snap, or do you always tie the line directly?
Xcite baits makes an awesome crankbait
Last year me and my cousins smashed them on square bills mainly 1.5s got several 2lb-4.5lb bass. I threw the cloud 9 a little bit caught two 4.5lbers back to back.
The Googan baits grande banger is a dang good big squarebill too....
Bring on the LV vid!!
Just curious do you use rods “rated” for 40lb braid? Or does it matter? All my rods generally say 6-17lb line
Right I want to throw 50 lb braid but not on a broomstick
Researched a bit, and it looks like the line rating is based off line diameter vs actual breaking strength. www.lamiglas.com/blogs/lamiglas-fishing-rod-blog/line-rating-power-lure-rating-explained
I want to get a 7’6” MH zodias and I was wondering the reason you guys prefer it for only larger baits. It is a powerful rod but it has a wide spread and I’d imagine it can handle some lighter/smaller cranks and squarebills pretty good as well right?
Matt and Tim, you’ve taught me somuch about bass fishing the past years . Thanks!
I've done well throwing a biggie on it in a pinch 👍 I wouldnt throw baits with size 4 trebles on it though (lucky craft 1.5, rock crawler, 3xd, etc)
TacticalBassin will you explain the difference in hook sizes in crankbaits and how the different styles of cranks correlates with different rods? Or perhaps link a video that goes more into that aspect of it. I get why you would want a specific rod for cranks in general but a little cloudy on why it would matter with different types of cranks/hooks. I would imagine as long as the rod can throw the lure weight and has the desired taper it would perform the same! I would appreciate the help

Great video as usual! Thanks for all the tips brother! Question in michigan our crawdads are not usually red they are brown and blue due red cranks still work in the spring? Should i be throwing a brown crawdad crankbait instead of red? Thanks for any input would be greatly appreciated!
What is the preferable gear ratio for those to crank?
Do y’all throw wiggle warts pre rap or post, I got some craw color mid depths but yet to catch anything only fished em a couple of times
Went out yesterday and they are already in 2' of water here in MS.
Would there be crawdads in mass and Connecticut? Never seen one but they sure do go after the plastics
Off topic question......What size hook do you use for replacing frog hooks on the bullywa, etc? I only see 3/0 and 4/0 available for ewg frog hooks?
What about the Dobyns 805CB? Will it work for the mag square bills?
do you use the med or mh

Gregory Chuhta they are too small and very flimsy. I know for a fact the hook up ratio is better with triple grips that are the correct size.

Out ice fishing watching tactical bassin to get that early lead vs. other anglers in soft water conditions
I’m sure this has been answered before, but does anyone know why Tim and Matt recommend high gear ratio rods for crank baits. Seems like most ppl recommend slower ratios to get the baits down. Is it just for burning crankbaits when needed?
