Control Gameplay: 7 Freakiest Things We Saw in Remedy's Control Gameplay

- Control is the new game from Remedy, the studio behind Quantum Break and Alan Wake, and it’s shaping up to be just as twisted and unsettling as those earlier games. Fresh from the new Control trailer and a demo of Control gameplay here at E3 2018, we’re here to share the seven freakiest things we saw in Control, because if we can’t sleep at night anymore, we don’t see why you should either. Subscribe for more on Control and from E3 2018, why not?
Control takes place in a modern world a bit like our own, only spookier and more sci-fi, and the leather jackets are better. The protagonist is one Jesse Faden, who works for an agency called the Federal Bureau of Control.
This bureau investigates and researches spooky and arcane goings-on, like the FBI if it was all Mulders and no Scullys.
The good news for Jesse Faden is her career is on the up and up, because at this point in the game she’s the new director of the bureau.
The less good news is that a malevolent supernatural force known as the Hiss has infiltrated and corrupted the bureau, which has done a number on FBC headquarters here.
The bureau HQ is called the Oldest House, and is even more ominous than its name suggests, being a vast, logic-defying, non-euclidean space, such as Cthulhu might take his summer vacation in.
And the freakiness doesn't end there, nor with the sinister refrigerator that must always be watched, the shadowy projection of the bureau's previous director, or the arcane rituals that must be performed to navigate the mysterious Oldest House.
This place must be an absolute nightmare to work in. You try being on time for a meeting when the conference room has phased out of existence.
Remedy comes out on an unspecified release date in 2019 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Love how this make Control look like a scary game while in reality you have to chase after an evil rubber duck
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Bruh I Was Weak Asf When That’s Like The Last Thing I Came Across
I mean chasing after it was pretty creepy lol
SCP foundation: you're talking about Jr
there's also one where you have to capture several "moving letters". and in envelopes that teleport around.
harmless but annyoing.
Fuck that duck, it was mocking me I know it lol.
Remedy is one of those companies I feel has always put a lot of heart into their games, but just keeps getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the recognition they deserve.
Everybody knows Bullet-time, but nobody remembers the company that made Max Payne 1 and 2.
I remember. The fact that Oxbox doesn't disappoints me.
Ikr when she said "Alan Wake and Quantum Break" i was like aaaaaand... How dare they forget one of the most genre difining titles in all of gaming history.
Tim Smithen I remember them only as Max Payne which is why I got excited
Bullet-Time, a criminally underrated game
@Andrew Parker speak for yourself. I loved it
The thing I liked most about this game was that it offered ridiculous, supernatural powers but with short limits that left you vulnerable when they ran out. It felt like dreams I've had since childhood in which I could fly away from enemies but suddenly fall to the ground again. The combo of power and vulnerability makes for very tense and unique gameplay.
Wow that’s amazing. Now I know I’m not the only one who experienced this. Can be a real nightmare at times and others a joy
That levitate is clean af
Doesn't it though?
Metroidvanias are awesome, so I'll definitely be picking this up.
The amount of polish when the release date isn't even specified yet is ridiculous.
My brother and I just stared at each other after seeing the gameplay. We both know we gotta get this!
Looks really cool. Kinda reminds me of Jean Grey though. :p
a superman game with this mecanics would be amazing !
But the throwing doesn't look that much like you're in control. Force Unleashed had way better control.
Not enough games give you physics-defying, force powers. I'm well up for this.
yep but doubt ps4 and xbox can hold it. at the end of the trailer says "images captured from pc"
@@guidorussoheck2100 Are you crazy?
@@Zip-id7pm not really
@@Zip-id7pm I just bought this game and it has consistently been dropping frames or freezing entirely when opening/closing map, walking into an expansive area or just pausing.
@@xpuretovex for xbox or ps4? I play ps4 and it looks amazing
4:28 That cracked me up because in the game, the bureau in fact states, through cheery workplace posters, that time lost to building shifts do not count towards overtime.
Alan wake,
Quantum break,
Control.. shoulda kept the rhymes going like... Shake and bake...?
Andy Mcp Alan wake quantum break large fried chocolate shake
Andy Mcp thats what I was thinking why break the rythem. We should all thank sam lake for quantum break, alen wake and ... Control ...max Payne
Samur/Aye dreamscape is good.
Max Bake
Levitate
"a modern world a bit like our own only spookier and more sci-fi, and the leather jackets are better" is literally my ideal setting.
"Because if we can't sleep at night anymore, we don't se why you should be able to either."
Ha! Joke's on you, I haven't been able to sleep at night for a couple of years by now! I'm sure there are no long term effects from that.
On a completed unrelated note, are Nespresso pods meant to be taken intravenously, or should I see a doctor about that?
Nah, I usually just snort the insides so you're probably fine
Patrik Hjorth lol that completely didn't process in my head (I just laughed it off) unti I kept seeing all these things about SCP, which I looked up and backed out immediately, then I realized they were giving me a warning 🤣 so I think I'm just going to go to sleep and watch it later.......
The CVR123 Oh, I think you will enjoy learning about the Special Containment Protocols. You may never know peace of mind again, but it's probably worth it. Probably.
yes. no long term effects. just a really quick one.
Just finished the game last night...it's easily one of my favorite games of this generation!
I just finished it last night and, 3 years later, your assessment is still valid! I paid 8 bucks for it in PlayStation Network's Black Friday sale and I would HAPPILY pay full AAA game retail price 3 years ago!
Having not watched this before completing the game and the first DLC, I find the differences between what is shown here and the final product very interesting.
Evil Within meets Force Unleashed meets Inception? Sure, I'm less busy than an overpowered fridge inspector so why not?
It's not like evil within at all really but there are inception like parts... especially one spectacular set piece!
Remedy are so underrated - I love all their games, they deserve more recognition.
Plot twist. This is all just an excuse for the new Director to cut down on personnel without boring HR.
"Director! Why did you murder all your staff?"
"Umm.. Well... You see..."
Xtreme Budget Cuts
Lets just hope Jane doesnt get any Ideas for the OX Box Staff
It’s funny you say that because post game in Central Executive you can actually hear an employee say this as a conspiracy theory.
"in THIS economy??"
I'm getting Warehouse 13 vibes and I am cool with that.
I love that show
I was thinking the same thing!
Funny. I was thinking SCP Foundation.
Sounds sort of like an American version of the Laundry to me, but Warehouse 13 is also apt.
Exactly what i was thinking
"... the studio behind Quantum Break and Alan Wake..." ... AND? (Max Payne 1 and 2, which gave us the bullet-time, and Death Rally, which is just awesome.)
Trust Jane to know where Cathulu takes his holidays
Jordan Johns And here Cthulhu thought he'd managed to evade Jane for a little R&R.
I can't be spooked in a game where I play as Jean Grey with a gun.
Hahahaha totally is Jean Grey with a gun 😂
Now that you mention it, that's pretty on point.
Also its more cosmic horror than normal horror but there have definitely been some moments that freaked me out. Even the spooky janitor from the beginning is pretty unsettling, but there is also the mirror, the mannequins, the weird shit in the ocean view motel, and boatloads of just general OH FUCK and WHAT THE FUCK moments
Just seen this comment, but it’s resonating with my soul 😂 lol this is the main reason I preordered this game to begin with
I've gotta be honest it's the deviant fridge that's got me interested which is not a sentence I ever imagined anybody would say
I was honestly choked and sad when Phillip died, I didn't know him but he seemed so nice.. x)
Poor Philip... The Former undid him
@@bepkororoti8019 pretty sure he got ate bruh
its so much fun to come back to this and see how much has changed
How dare she give fridge guy the cold shoulder. >:(
I see what you did there.
BOOOO
It's Jane.
Does no one else remember her chambers inside radioactive water?
I see the pun.
Ellen, is that you?
*slow clap*
This game might be the highlight of my E3
This is one of the standouts of E3 for me. A complete surprise, and I'm looking forward to it. I hope they have more powers than what they demoed here.
I also own a sinister fridge. Mine makes me gain weight
Spooky
Seriously, nobody is giving enough love to these genius comments here.
Huhuhuhh
Fringe + Warehouse 13 + weird interdimensional stuff + shadowy organisation + weird eerie shifting building + occult type business + awesome powers like in Quantum break + sentient gun + it's made by Remedy so the story and dialogue will be pretty dope = I AM IN.
Looks fun. Thanks for digging through and finding these games for those of us who don;t have the time to pore through endless E3 footage ourselves.
When you know Jane will narrate because it's a game that defies physics.
Remember Mike's car video when he mentioned defying physics?
Jane: "WHAT?"
Yet again, another year of fantastic coverage from E3. Thank you Oxbox, YOU DA BOMB
The Hiss performing let the bodies hit the floor
You guys are so cool keep up making those great videos, love you guys, been watching this channel for 3 years now
I came in for a brief overview of game mechanics, but stayed for the delightful and hilarious commentary! So charming! 😂😂😂🎧💙👍
I love this game.
I really hope it gets a sequel.
SCP the game? I'm 100% down
Noah Haar Ikr sign me up too
Your Mother Hubbard it’s a creepypasta meets sci-fi sort of thing. Stands for secure contain protect, for the SCP Foundation, they contain all kinds of bizarre creatures and things
Didn't they make a scp game?
I just started this game and in two play sessions I’ve managed to get all the way to the Polaris mission. I’m lovin this game because it’s exactly what I was expecting. When I unlocked the levitate ability I went back and fought the fridge monster. Then the more you learn in the game the less you understand yet you understand what’s going on in the game somehow. Then one of the funny things about your abilities is that like Emily pope says trench once used the floppy disc to launch a bowling ball 6 meters which means Jessie’s telekinetic powers are strong af because she can levitate and even launch forklifts or even people at other people lmao
This game honestly looks really good, can't wait to see you guys play it on a live stream.
I have been waiting for a game like this for a long time. The fact that it's from one of my favorite companies makes it even better!
Missed this one somehow at the E3 but this looks amazing and I can't wait till we see more of this game
I feel one of this game' many influences is Legion. AND. I. AM. EXCITED.
I had no idea this existed, this already looks really cool
Andrew I did know of it, but I watched a playthrough of it
I wouldn’t say spooked so much as hyped. That gameplay looks so good
sometimes this game is creepy af and spoopy as fuck and other times you're chasing a rubber duck or falling through the floor after a merry go round's horse.
So let me get this straight “The Old House” is a site for SCP foundation and you’re the new director trying to contain an escaped SCP?
Not to contain anymore but to murder them from what I see.
@@oviiembem6302 so GOC
Not SCP specifically but same lovecraftian genre. Its basically an extra dimensional entity outbreak in an extra dimensional facility designed to contain and control such entities that infects the other weird entities and fucks a bunch of shit up.
@@Ben-rz9cf so scp with extra steps lol
I need this game in my life not enough games give you rad powers like that
Somehow this is the 1st time I've seen this game. Thanks guys!
this looks really cool. Remedy definitely has some unique ideas for games
I have never heard of this game before, but it just made my list of must-haves.
I hope this comes out soon. It looks really cool to me, obviously wouldn't want it to be rushed and trash but it just looks so cool
Spoiler: it wasn't rushed or trash :D
Looks amazing, can't wait to play this
Through the entire video I wasn't even paying attention, just thinking "Oh my god you can fly" and occasionally letting out a small squeal of excitement.
Keep thinking you're calling them The Kiss, which subsequently makes me think of the band Kiss. I now have 'I Was Made For Lovin' You' stuck in my head!
Getting a lot of Sanctuary and Warehouse 13 vibes... I LIKE IT!
It's over corrupted agent I have the high ground
My Spook-o-meter has gone from at *** "Somewhat spooked" to a **** "I think that plant just moved, better whack it" after watching this. With that being said, the game looks amazing!
So it's scp?
beat me to it!
Doge Wow Yes!!! Better than my Warehouse 13 link
yeah I was just thinking I was gettign SCP foundation vibes from this, mainly with the refridgerator thing
Doge Wow Frankly that makes it cooler especially for once you get to be like fuck no to the anomalies this time and levitate out of the room
I hope they borrow heavily from the SCP stuff, just because the're a massive wealth of good ideas that they could use.
It would be a bit crappy not to credit the place they get the ideas from, but if this does well we might see more of that stuff, and that's a price i'm willing to pay.
This looks so cool!
This looks so spooky and cool!
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
Is the FBC in Nightvale? Is this all because of the civilization that lives under the bowling alley?
Also, FEAR reference.
It's like the Second Sight 2 I was waiting for!
Looks like a mix from the science fiktion from Quantum Break and the fantasy Part from Alan Wake.
I hope they plant easter eggs like in Quantum Break to proof that it plays in the same universe.
( It was Books with the signature from Alan Wake if you dont know)
I am so looking forward to this.
I really needed an Ellen cameo with her signature catchphrase "Freaky Deaky"
Oh, man! That's such a classic Ellen phrase. It just makes you immedietaly think of Ellen.
Remedy and BugBear both released a new game.
Great times in Finnish game industry.
Man I can't wait to play this game it looks great
It’s 3am and I was about to play prey(again) thank you for saving me.
Love Remedy games. Control has some nods to Thomas Ligotti and Mark Z Danielewski. loved every minute of the game.
Reminds me of Sci-Ops. An underrated gem!
Looks good!
This so feels like something that should exist within The Secret World universe. (It doesn't, that's more than fine, but... holy cow I love it.)
the most freakiest among all was that transition music in this video
So this is more or less a super polished "SCP - Containment Breach" game. I'm pretty excited about that! I do hope there's a nod to SCP and/or it's creators though.
I'll buy this for sure.
Was that James McCaffrey as the shadowy projections? The voice of Max Payne?
2 years late but yes it was his voice.
Really enjoyed playing this, great game with a lot of twists ☠️
Looks like it's got a lot of potential!
Ahh the objects are like SCP's
What's a SCP
Yay! I always wanted to play Advent Rising again
Can't wait, I love Remedy.
Kind of got overshadowed by the big games at E3 but this looks really fun, getting Psi-Ops vibes from it and Remedy have made some great games. Cautiously hyped.
Yup, definetly gonna get it.
This is a very good looking game, the graphics are just gorgeous!
Anyone else getting SPC vibes from that fridge?
SCP
We all float down here!
Some reason this reminds me of a show I used to watch... Warehouse 13.
It’s nice they’re making a game about what Jane gets up to when the others aren’t around.
Seriously though, a game with what looks to be really good TK/ flying mechanics, gives off a serious SCP vibe, and is set in non-Euclidean space? It’s like someone’s been reading my diary.
The void, with islands of black rocks and the power's sounds with whispers, reminds me of Dishonored
The combat looks fun.
I'm just excited
Getting strong Warehouse 13 vibes
I'm going to be using that telikinetic shield *a lot*
I can't find the altered car in panopticon. In @5:05, it should've been beside the fridge. However, in my game the flamingo replaced the car.
Can I take a moment to say how much I HATE the Hiss Distorted? It's invisible and when you are lost in the heat of the combat, it appears out of nowhere and gives you a jump-scare. This thing made me paranoid in every fight!
I need this game asap
I really enjoyed Alan Wake (I really hope for a second addition to the series). I'm looking forward this game and future projects from this developer.
AWESOME
Omg this game looks amazing!
im freaked out when you hear the floating corpses spew things that you can almost understand
This game looks so cool
This game looks sick!
2019 ughhh, definitely won't be sleeping now. Hopefully it turns out to be a good game and not a huge letdown.
