Ben’s an absolute beast, glad he’s getting some recognition! This intricacy & power he plays with Whitechapel is stellar, but also the more alternative-sounding stuff they’ve been releasing recently is awesome as well! Really well-rounded player!
Judging by this comment Ben must be the shredder I heard. After I listened to the album I had to figure out who it was, then discovered White Chapel has 3 guitarists. Interesting. Any fans care to fill me in?
All the riffs he played from Kin are all melodic and that makes me so excited. Sounds like there’s going to be more singing and clean stuff on the record and that makes me VERY excited
First guitarist I've seen who cited At The Drive In as an influence. One Armed Scissor from Relationship of Command is amazing, as is the entire album.
Ben Savage is a very talented guitarist. I'd day he's one of the main songwriters in the band. He brings the melodic nature to the music, as well as the dark extreme metal side. The other two guitarists, bring the hardcore and groove to it, as well as the thrashier elements. Wonder why their music keeps changing and progressing?
Ben is awesome person and musician! Kin is a deffinatly new step for heavy music. So emotional and brutal in the same time and without any rosewater like it was in 2000's era metalcore. I'm really impressed.
Ben saying he was inspired by ATDI and played one armed scissor surprised me lol. Its cool to see who inspired the guitarists or musicians you listen too or are a fan of. Even with The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez Lopez is such an underrated guitarist and has composed some amazing technical guitar riffs.
The guys from Whitechapel grew up not too far from where I live. I'm friends with someone that grew up with them. I had never heard of Whitechapel until he played me some of their early work.
@3:27, I couldn't help but notice that he plays that riff better than At the Drive-in does. I listened to that song for the first time after watching this video and it wasn't what I expected after seeing him play it.
At the drive in being primarily a Hardcore band with a jazz influence and not the other way around definitely contributes to the messy feel of it. Which I like
@@stevecaron6609 He didnt really make himself clear, but the reason he suggested The Mars Volta is because they're most of the same members from ATDI. They were sick of being a hardcore band so they became a super beyond amazing, honestly legendary prog band, right in between Coheed & Cambria and Dream Theater. (ATDI is also Coheed's biggest influence lol).
Im just a random stranger but my first one string jam was the overly common Smoke On The Water! Later the first actual riff I learned was Brainstew! There were other tunes I wanted to play but they seemed/sounded to difficult at that time even though i learned later that they weren’t. 🤘👺
god daaaaaaaaaaaaamn that riff from the actual song Kin is gorgeous, I already know I'm gonna spend so much time trying to learn that once the album's out
"Correctly" lmao dude. Yeah, it's the way Tony plays it, but honestly it's ridiculous to play it so high on the neck. He played an SG so he has ALL the neck room. Same with the "correct" way of playing Smoke on the Water. Idk why Ritchie Blackmore plays it the way he does, but it's honestly just silly.
He’s not playing it right though. It’s in the right position on the neck if that what you mean but he’s hammering on the wrong notes in the intro and there is a partial G chord at the end of each pass of the verse riff that he’s not playing.
This is literally the only comment I've seen like this, & it's honestly sad. I expected everyone to be making lame jokes about it, but nobody seems to notice :(
It's funny some of the riffs he played are some of the most iconic songs but normally guitar players on gear factor don't play them because they are well-known he plays hay lady by zeppelin and seek and destroy paranoid lol there obvious riffs but definitely favorites by all metal players Really cool perfect mix for great metal acoustic players seek and destroy gas such a cool intro if you're new to guitar its awesome just ripping that simple riff and sound like you know what you're doing lol
Sick! I do like their stuff and I always am excited to hear how other players get inspiration from the metal/rock legends that came before them. Honest guy and I like his taste!🏴☠️
Ben Savage!! Yoo !! You. Played some Tunes i like very much!!⚡️🎸 ha!! Patience Passion n dedication!!! 🤔wish had my ‘mate’ to fulfill these wishes 🤭😝🎶 ty!! Sharing 👍
Good to see Whitechapel getting recognition. Not many well known southern metal bands around, even though the metal scene has always been huge in the south. A lot of people think we’re only into country. That’s BS. Metal is every bit as big, if not, bigger.

Hes a savage, what do you expect
Absolutely. And he's such a chill dude. I met him at Mulcahys Pub in Wantagh and he stopped and answered any questions I had.

@@Spooky_515 yeah Ben is the lead guitar player in Whitechapel
Yeah he is great

@Mister 5G it makes him excited, just not us lol
Dude is a beast of a player and a cool human being as well.
Fun Fact: My dad was his middle school band director
thats awesome
Ben really colors and fills in the completion of their music with Zach and Alex.

ATDI: the band so good that even their side projects are incredible
Pretty sure Will Swan from Dance Gavin Dance said he's pretty influenced by them.
Amazing band i thought they would be huge like TMV but still great none the less
One Armed Scissor is a classic. I had tickets to watch them touring Relationship, but they broke up before the concert. Gutted is an understatement.
@@akmetalhead95 not familiar with them.
Those 2 riffs from Kin were so melodic and made me feel some kind of way. Super hyped for the new album

The first riff you wrote you say "I just messed around on the guitar". Those are the best type of riffs tbh.
Something about his personality reminds me of Dime. Idk why
It's the hair and southern drawl. Ever see Dime's Riffer Madness coloum in Guitar World? Hilarious
It’s not just that. The facial hair, the chubby cheek look, and most of all, the way he’ll end ta riff with that sort of dime-y slide up and bend.
Every member of Whitechapel is a beast. Digging their craft 👌
Ben is a savage guitarist !!! Cool PRS
Hell yeah so nice to see Bens musical taste and the fact that he still jams to old Whitechapel too, vedi NIOCE

You should check out The Mars Volta if you like that cleaner style

Chris Storey's sweeps from Awaken The Dreamers
Loved him in Boy Meets World.
Finally someone that plays paranoid correctly
And played the seek and destroy riff lower 1 string lol

Heavy power cord riffs always hittttt
He is dimebags son hes such a look alike always a beast at guitar as well
About God damn time we got some of the Whitechapel guys
I wasn't expecting him to draw inspiration from Mastodon. I love that band
Definitely one of my favorite guitar players. As soon as I heard prostatic fluid, I knew.
Can we musicians take a moment to appreciate this PRS he is playing? Man, that guitar sounds incredible.
john mayer silver sky i’m the tugsten color. beautiful i got my silver sky in orion green
Jeez man, that riff from Devirgination Studies still has me grooving.
No body is psyched that he is playing a john Mayer model PRS
i still listen to father of lies at least once a month
Love this band so much man. For all the years of savagery they've given me.
Great stuff Ben thanks for Sharing 🤘
Now Im hyped for the new album
Holy shit those Kin licks were powerful, so excited for this album
Awesome!!!! So stoked for their new album!
savage is a savage
He has that prs silver sky nebula ughh want that
Man I really miss playing guitar…
Why'd you stop?
Why don't you play any longer?

Awesome
This dude looks like Dimebag... Good player. 🎸
Man I wanna see more old school riffs cuz that was awesome!

Those riffs sounded super Opeth to me like My Arms Your Hearse era. Maybe just because of the heavy reverb and the tone but i love it
......... okey, bad ass bro. Cool of you to take the time and jam for us. \,,\
Anyone noticed how he looks weirdly like DimeBag?
Yep. Give him a pink beard and longer hair and he's the spitting image.
So surreal seeing him with a Silver Sky 😂
The Silver Sky sounding pretty good even for those heavier riffs
Sick! I do like their stuff and I always am excited to hear how other players get inspiration from the metal/rock legends that came before them. Honest guy and I like his taste!🏴☠️
Awesome playing! Seek and Destroy init riff is in the key of A though…
Sounds like a dimebag Darrel 💔💔😌
Yessss hahaha
He kinda looks like a young Dimebag
As soon as he played bring me home I was near tears just from the impact that song has on me from losing a parent
Yes just yes
You're awesome

We need the other two and Phil as well
The Dimebag of Deathcore
8:24 & 9:24 feels like i am in silent hill / resident hill world , sooth, alien, calm. .
NO WONDER WHY I THOUGHT LOST BOY SOUNDED LIKE TOOL!!!!
Love dudes passion, some killer licks
So this is what Corey from Boy Meets World is doing these days
Ben looks like he'd be Kerry King's Son lol 🤣 killing it tho!
Cool dude!
Mini Dimebag got some riffs !!
4m30 riff reminds me counterparts
i get to see them live in february with cannibal corpse 😈
Shadow and Rev will be there, too. At least for me
He good.
Fuck yeasssss! 🤙🏼🤪
Is it me or should Seek and Destroy have started on the A string and not on the E like it looked like he played it.
🤘
Bring me home is one of my absolutley favorite songs of all time
Seek and Destroy I sure was played wrong....
It was.
Nice
Now I need to get a single coil strat
low key clicked cause I thought the guy from boy meets world would be playing guitar.
❤
Put in time with the chaconne, musically it works,
Ben looks like Dimebag Darrell's long lost little bro
New young blood in metal it great
cool dude
Is that a PRS neck on a Strat?
Can we get Brandon Small on one of these?
I think there is one actually.
I feel like he did some time ago
Now to find it
MAKE IT BLEED! Yes that riff is killer!
Since when did Jorge Masvidal start rippin guitar
Glad i wasn't the only one that noticed that lol

He literally played it on the E string instead of A
Right! I was wondering what he was doing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is he playing a John Mayer signature PRS?
You are not wrong.
Not wrong and I wish I had one.
❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4:04 does someone know what chords he is playing, or what song that is. I really wanna learn that
He literally says it before he plays but it’s one armed scissor by at the drive in. its more distorted and faster on the actual recording tho
Chord inversions. And the others sound like 9th and minor 9th chords
Whoa, when did Cory Matthews go metal?
Has a look of Dimebag.
Love his face while he’s playing
Ben's an absolute Savage...Pun intended
BRING ANDY MARSH FROM THY ART AS WELL
he looks like anthony vincent
