Im Spanish and business student, I had never been interested in construction til I've discovered this channel, plus ur top-noch narration helps me to improve my English, satisfies me a lot. Thanks.
It's not confused. Clearly, it said two counties: Staten Island and Brooklyn that the land area is blue and just water is white that show you where bridge is...
There are #21bridges into Manhattan, 19 of which can be walked. I've walked 17 of them since 2016 with my wife and we hope to complete the last two this month. Seeing the bridge infrastructure in person has been an adventure unto itself.
Although skyscrapers are my thing, I loved this video on NYC’s bridges! As usual, the video is concise, pristinely edited and very informative. Keep it up B1M❤️
Really great story about New York's bridges. This is remarkable tribute to engineering achievements in bridge design and construction. Congratulations!!!
I absolutely LOVE New York City's river crossings. I live in New Jersey and love driving to NYC. My favorite bridge by far is the Verrazano--Narrows. Such an impressive structure.
My folks just got back from yet another trip the the Big Apple (from way up here in western Canada) and will continue going back as they love how iconic in so many ways the city - and its crossings - is / are. Thank you for your careful, thoughtful and poignant analysis, particularly of this classic behemoth among cities. As a photographer and lover of such spans, I'm in awe and await my turn at being among these ancient structures.
The Verrazano's Narrows Bridge was built with the curvature of the Earth in mind. The tops on each side are slightly farther apart than the bottoms of each side. Presumably, if you were to follow them vertically, they wouldn't be parallel. Instead, they would meet in the center of the Planet.
New York is the best city in the world. It’s landmarks are iconic and it’s skyline is beautiful. There is so much culture and history in New York, it’s amazing.
You left out three other major bridges 1.(Triborugh Bridge) Robert F Kennedy which connects Manhattan, Queens, and The Bronx. Which this bridge next to the Hell Gate Bridge. 2. Whitestone 3. Throggs Neck, Overall love your channel! Keep up the good work
Interesting and timely video. The NYC Marathon was run quite recently and important landmarks on its route are some of the bridges profiled in this presentation. Thanks for posting this.
Iconic bridges by iconic architects and engineers-they don't do them like they used to nonetheless thank you once more for a great show-looking forward to the next.
Ah yes the bridges of my home island, Outerbridge named after the port authority president, Goethals bridge looked cooler when it was a cantilever, and bayonne the Beautiful arch bridge
Multiple years later, we've seen what the Verrazano looks like under heavy wind loads (the deck rising and lowering). It's amazing what engineers can do.
Great video. I definitely would love to see you do a video of all the bridges in NYC. It probably would be difficult being that there are many bridges. I'm talking major bridges though. But anyways, I always enjoy your content.
Love this video and the B1M in general, but you missed some NYC bridges. 1. The bridges connecting Staten island and new jersey, the Goethals Bridge and the Bayonne Bridge. 2. And the many Bronx - Manhattan bridges 3. You, in general, should have spoken more on the Williamsburg and Manhattan bridges And with regards from NYC!
Fred is this all your own work? In my mind you write and direct but have editors. please tell me The B1M is all your precious baby??? Either way, this channel is in my top 3 easily. Such quality content my man.
I'd like to see more of an explanation of /how/ the bridges are used and the desire for pedestrian and transit oriented crosses rather than private autos.
I know I may be asking too much but it would be interesting to make a video on New York's iconic buildings, which were demolished on purpose such as the Singer Building, Penn Station etc.
The bridge that was never built was the Brooklyn/Battery Bridge. FDR wouldn't allow it. Instead the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel was built. As Robert Moses said, "What's so great about a tunnel? You can't even see it!"
There are a lot more bridges you didn't cover such as the Gothles Bridge linking Staten Island to New Jersey, the Triborough which was the first of many bridges being built during Robert Moses's era, the white stone bridge or the 138 St bridge linking Manhattan to the South Bronx.
Great Video! Just a heads up though I think you guys accidentally used the Williamsburg Bridge twice when you mentioned both it and the Manhattan Bridge.
I recommend, that you check out, or make a video about ongoing megaproject in the Baltic states - "Rail Baltica". There is an impressive station design in tallinn, as well as in Riga. That would be a great video!

The city could rename the 59th street bridge all they want, but it'll always be the Queensboro Bridge!
I called it "Queensboro/59th Street/Ed Koch Bridge. If that's too long, then Queensboro it is.
And Koch sucked. Only non New Yorkers include the former mayors name when saying the 59th street bridge.
I always just said Queenbridge since it's near the neighborhood Queensbridge and I grew up in the projects a few blocks east of it.
I have only recently discovered The B1M Channel. And, I must admit that it's probably one of the best on UA-cam. Thank you, for the great work.
