So, birdshot is used for hunting birds, and buckshot is used for hunting bucks... so are shotgun slugs used for hunting slugs?
No, you hunt slugs with rock salt.
jjohnston94 hunt slugs with dust shot, it’s more fun
You be the judge
@@broup9137 I imagine at slug-hunting ranges, there's no difference in the result between rock salt and dust shot (or actual dust, for that matter).
It works to kill them, but not there's not much meat left.

Is Paul Harrell the highlight of my week as well? *YOU* be the judge! Or govenor.
Must have been colder than usual for this one Paul. I don’t recall seeing you wear gloves before. Your dedication is appreciated.
Love your logical reasoning for shooting the meat target!
“Because it’s fun” Yes. Yes it is.

I bought that exact same jacket on Ebay.
I need at least TWO of those bottomless pocket jackets! Lol
@@synystur21 Just make sure it has the game bag on the back! :D

Tee shirt options MUST include phrases like, "Don't try this at home, I'm what you call a professional. " "This one fits my hand better than this one." and "We're on the range today, so please bear with any gunfire you may hear in the background." Also, there needs to be a tee shirt that has an illustration and description of the meat target...

The meat target especially, like a diagram, that'd make a great design

Whew I’m glad you told us about the earplugs again. I was about to get secondhand hearing loss lol. Pretty bad that he has to mention ear plugs and safety glasses each video to appease the safety Sallys
Yeah I just imagine those people watching some of FPSRussia's videos, they might blow a gasket.
It is sad that folks gripe, but it feels like just good advice when he says it. So jokes on them, he always is safe, and looks even more professional when he talks about it. I chalk it up to people who might just be tuning in, a quick safety reminder.
Every "defensive" use of a firearm I've ever seen didn't have time for ear plugs. And someone usually gets hurt so if ear plugs were there... Wait... No... ear plugs won't stop a bullet...
No they are good solid professional reminders, for us to do the same.
@@andystampfli9127 things like earplugs exist for range sessions not for the bad guys who sneak in your house that you don't spot until last second
I really like the consistency in Paul's presentational style. He approaches his demonstrations with similar style and techniques which allow the viewer to quickly understand the primary differences between the objects of comparison. Paul is one of the best!
Pauls about to surpass demo ranch and hikok

I’m always happy with Paul’s videos as are so many others. What shocks me are the thumbs down numbers. Who would give these a thumbs down and why? Part of me thinks it must be folks either associated with the manufactures of these “hyper” ammo producers or simple anti-gunners.
Either way; thanks Paul!
12ga super x slugs are great for home defense. 1st layer of fleece 👌

Two things:
1- T-shirt "ad ˈnôzēəm"
2- Interesting idea on the ammunition, turns your 12 gauge into a "Brown Bess." Not sure what you would do that for, but I sleep better knowing we have the technology.
Keep up the excellent work Sir!
This was a particularly awesome video.
Enjoy your videos. Always educational and you don't try to cram your own preferences down people's throats. Love the Jones cap, I was starting to think I was the only one left that wears one.
Damn I wish I lived in Oregon. I'll still buy a t-shirt when they go on sale.
Amen. As soon as there is an online source for acquisition.
Your videos are my favorite firearm videos on UA-cam by far. I've seen almost all of them. It reminds me of my drill sgt breaking things down Barney style. But in a much more detailed manner, and with demonstration. I have learned a LOT from your channel. Just wanted to say thank you.
The old saying "If it Ain't broke, Don't fix it" comes to mind......
Winchester one ounce 12 gauge slugs seem to be they way to go. This channel has the best comparisons so I am not bothered by any redundancy. And yes, the meat target looks like fun to shoot. Keep up the good work Sir Paul.
A "you be the judge" t-shirt i wonder if you have. Though personally I hope you do stickers, because most merch clothing I find to be to showy for me. Well stickers I can smack onto my computer, light table, and other stuff, without making something overtly showy.
The High-Tech Fleece Bullet Stop had apparently met its match with the Herter's. What's interesting is that the much higher-velocity slug didn't do the same thing.

Paul, you gotta come up with a t shirt or hat.
Oh man, I'm finally first post!!

I'm dissappointed that this channel's audience is interested in pretentious liberal shit like putting jokes on a t-shirt. Just make a meme out of it instead.
@@narukami597 What? We can't goof around? And who do you call a pretentious liberal? We're interested in a lot of stuff, the t-shirts is just one out of many.
I have to say I've learned something with every Paul Harrell video that I've watched and I have never not been entertained while watching!
I'm pretty new to shotguns, and I was familiar with birdshot and how people used it to hunt birds. I've used it a few times for some invasive bird problems on my property. However, I recently encountered a slug problem in my garden, and naturally figured shotgun slugs should do the trick. Does the same logic apply for eliminating slugs?
Of course, you load your shotgun with slugs. It will decimate garden slugs. One shot one overkill.
Yes it does.
I... um... yes.
If a slug won't kill that slug, you better start prayin' that the muther forker doesn't catch up with you! Or walk away at a brisk pace. Slugs aren't that fast. Even *I* can outpace them. I hope. My daughter doesn't quit agree . . .
I think the double ball stems back to soldiers of the line shooting volley fire at approaching ranked soldiers - the idea was to double the chance of hitting more than one soldier . Also this was shot through a smooth bore musket . Buck and ball was also used for this purpose and volley fire would not be so much aimed as pointed . Good analysis and well explained , thanks
Gun fire in the background, t-shirt,ball cap, be awesome!
I don't even have any guns anymore, I just watch this channel because of how much Paul knows his stuff. If I ever get back into shooting or buy something for home defense I'm going to be a lot better educated on what will work best.
-- Thumbs up as always Paul and thank you. I'd be curious (if you haven done so already) doing a presentation on how ammunition behaves at different temperatures/environmental conditions. I'd wonder after chronograph results/accuracy/lbs on the meat target, with ammo at different temps specifically. I'd also like to hear your thoughts on acclimating firearms to the weather (IE: If it's very cold outside, leaving your rifle, in this case scoped, outside to norm the temperature, and what differences, that makes, bearing in mind bore/overall heat generated by firing the weapon, and how often. I could go on at length, but I am curious: put the same kinds of ammunition in a cooler full of ice, some 'room temperature' some exposed to extreme humidity, some heated to The Suck conditions, I'd like to see those results. Thumbs up again, and thanks again.
That's a great idea.

Paul Harrell has the only gun channel I know where he can get more posts in 24 hours than most channels get in several years!
I wouldn't buy this ammo myself. Appears to be far too inaccurate for me. And as Paul has proven in this video, that which it does do some what we'll. Common buckshot and slugs can achieve better results. Thank you Paul for another great video.
Seems to be the case most of the time. They keep trying to reinvent the wheel but not much seems to get accomplished... that said, marketing to the tactitard commandos seems to be common and smart business wise.
So far in all the videos, pretty much everytime, the base ammo is more than adequate for the task.
Whether it is Winchester red and white, or Remington green and white, box.
I cannot see enough of a difference in most of the specialty ammos to justify the price.
My HD shotgun is loaded with this, and I forget the cost, but it was like 50c a round.
Paul's firearms channel is very good because of his first hand knowledge and experience. His presentation skills are very good. His methodology is that of an engineer.
