@@SlippyLimpets It sure did! I was up exploring northern tip of Skye last weekend - new spots - and i had a cracking day and a half! 20 fish from beautiful orange striped pollock under 1lb to a new pb I estimated at 7lb, as it was 66cm or so! Fat and healthy too! Had a memorable time, yet again. The biggest one was on a Mitchell avocet salt reel , sized 2000 - so it was a scrap and a half! Reel is making strange noises now...i changed to my BG Magsealed 3000 after that. Even the multitude of idiot drivers doing 29 mph in a 6 ton camper home, choking up the roads and causing issues didn't dampen my spirits. Great place - shame about the abuse from multitudes on the roads driving at dangerously slow speed. Saw some mad bikers doing crazy moves at mental speeds too, and then passed one that had crashed near Eilean D castle - looked horrific. Ambulance was there and blood all over the road. looks great so far! looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip. I was up in skye a couple of years ago at the Glenbrittle camp site and wanted to walk to a headland similar to the one in your video but couldn't because of my knee. Next time I'll have another go.
Amazing dedication. I live in hamilton New Zealand, and keep my boat an hour and a half away on the thames coast. Coromandel. Can go fishing whenever the weather allows which is probably 6 days out of ten. Youve made me realise i don't know how lucky i am. Thanks
Nice one Nathan, what a fishing trip... skye is incredible. Heading up that way for work. Can't wait!! Good to know the old razor claw see me fine. Tight lines 🎣

Great video and stunning scenery. Your grit determination and persistence paid off! I am the south coast and new to lrf. How far do I need to cast? Would I need an additional weight as well as the lure?

Once you hook one, then try and remember how far and how deep your lure was. Takes a wee bit of practice but you'll get there. Tight lines🎣👍
Really enjoyed that video (tbf always enjoy your videos!) I’m still new to lure fishing - can you explain ‘the count’, I’m assuming it’s the time between the lure hitting the surface and touching the bottom but how do you know when it’s reached the bottom? Presumably when the line stops coming off the reel? Keep up the good work mate!
Sorry for the delay. Yeah, the count is a way to work out roughly where the fish l, and how deep they are, rather than how deep you're fishing, especially since each lure has a different sink rate. The process goes like this; stick a lure and fan your casts from left to right and start counting from the point your lure hits the water until it hits the seabed, and repeat until you've finished casting to the right. If you hook into a fish then that will give you a general indication of the direction and how deep the fish is. Repeat this every time you change lure. Hope this helps

I am now torn between dropping you a contribution or shedding dollar on some polarised mineral glass. I'll have to sleep on it. As an affiliate do they look after you? Sorry for the seemingly obvious question but it would be nice to do both, only some of us oldies seek confirmation. Be well and tight lines. M
Alreet Martin, I'm glad you liked it, even though there wasn't an especially difficult approach. I don't normally do affiliate/sponsorship type things - I like using what I like and not being tied down - but if you feel like contributing, then go for the geegs. Hello Nathan I do alot of fishing myself and have Watched your video for years and love them we currently looking for spots up Eyemouth for lure fishing would it be possible to share abot info on a good spot to try thx
Hi Dean, all of the spots can be good at their time. On the north side kf the harbour- front of the caravan park can be good, and there's a popular low water mark below the big guns called the canons. All of the headlands on the south side of the harbour can throw up some fish too. Ebb seems to be best on the south. Hope this helps
oi oi firssstttttt, love Skye : You deffo gotta take a caution running past those Stags when tired, dangerous indeed I've been there done that its not nice.
Great video, my folks live near portree so might give the shore fishing a go sometime. Usually just hill lochs for wild brownies that I fish for up there or out in the boat. Tight lines 👍🏼
Well slippy that’s another mark gone you really need to stop showing so much to everybody we are slowly running out of places to fish because some people just trash the place with rubbish and wild fires I have never heard yourself or other UA-cam people say please respect the locals and don’t trash the place but eventually people will get fed up like what happened down by Loch Lomond and they’ll get tougher on people camping and fishing sorry to rant but sometimes it has to be said all the best to your fishing and tight lines
It's a fair point and i hate seeing old fire pits and litter, so I don't mind mentioning it. I rant about it in my wild camping videos and use the mantra of "leave no trace" I'll mention it next time I'm in a wilderness area.

I think that if you used a massive sling shot and threw chum out there a few times, you might attract some fish to your area. Try it and see if?
In New Zealand they use berley rock fishing, but it only really works when there is a wash on our east coast pacific ocean. They just put it in a sack
Like Joe said, think if I used a sack on the shore line, the current/wash could draw them closer in. A huge slingshot sounds like more fun though.

Brilliant mate would love to fish Skye terrible I’ve never been being Scottish
Whaaat!? Get booked up before the midge come
soundtrack please? the first one at 2:49
oi oi firssstttttt, love Skye : You deffo gotta take a caution running past those Stags when tired, dangerous indeed I've been there done that its not nice.
Aye, made sense not to risk it, wouldn't of liked to get speared by a stag
What’s your go to pollock lures mate?
First one I normally grab is the Rador Claw Silver Minnow, and if that doesn't work then I hit the soft plastics
I bet its good at night with the big rods out 🎣
It bet it is too, maybe next time
Let me know if you come back and I'll come fish with yah!!
Will do mate
Rhu ba dunain Loch brittle
Correct
Great video, my folks live near portree so might give the shore fishing a go sometime. Usually just hill lochs for wild brownies that I fish for up there or out in the boat. Tight lines 👍🏼
The shore fishing is brilliant, but I'm yet to give the brownies a go. Maybe next time
Why didn’t you go straight to neist point
I like trying new fishing spots. I get bored if I keep doing the same thing.
I can show ya some great marks ?
I live in Northumberland and my mate lives in isle of skye he gets massive fish lure fishing would love to try a go there never being
If you get the opportunity, then you should get up there. The locations are amazing, and the fishing can be pretty good too
Well slippy that’s another mark gone you really need to stop showing so much to everybody we are slowly running out of places to fish because some people just trash the place with rubbish and wild fires I have never heard yourself or other UA-cam people say please respect the locals and don’t trash the place but eventually people will get fed up like what happened down by Loch Lomond and they’ll get tougher on people camping and fishing sorry to rant but sometimes it has to be said all the best to your fishing and tight lines
How many people are gonna walk an hr and a half for a few polllack😂
It's up for people themselves to respect somewhere not for a UA-cam to tell them
It's a fair point and i hate seeing old fire pits and litter, so I don't mind mentioning it. I rant about it in my wild camping videos and use the mantra of "leave no trace" I'll mention it next time I'm in a wilderness area.
nice video mate is that glenbritle by anychance
Yep, it is.
@SlippyLimpets I know that walk well usually take cycle bikes and leave them at the old roman wall . Snapped a travel rod pulling out a 6 pounder there
Tight lines ma man
