yes, a lot of real life pirate references like Blackbeard (Edward Teach), Bartholomew Roberts, Edward Low, Capt. William Kidd, even explorers like Ferdinand Magellan and many more. What's more, Eichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, took many references even outside the irl pirates but also in the various folklores and myths around the globe, or let's just say many stuff. One thing that consistently keeps me watching One Piece is the worldbuilding. It's unmatched Coming from other shonen like DBZ and HunterXHunter there are things about One Piece that might not be everyone's cup of tea. The Show is extremely cartoony and goofy at times. But it also pulls on your heartstrings and makes you cry. Oda doesn't just forget about characters, he has this story all planned out, which I absolutely love. Plotlines will resurface hundreds of episodes from where they were first mentioned ,and most of what you will see in terms of runtime in the show is character driven dialogue moments. I only recently joined the quest for the One Piece, I'm only about 800 episdodes in(Just starting Whole Cake Island), but I can't wait to see how it ends.

EVERY place shown has its own story, government, and depth of history. EVERY place is not just a random bit of a show piece. they ALL tie in to the own going adventure in some way, so much so that some very dedicated people have actually created a map that charts Luffy's crew in full! finally, EVERY named character is important in some form or fashion, with rich backstories that make them actually feel like people who live in that world rather than just more set pieces. the world building of One Piece is beyond top tier, and it is such an amazing adventure to experience!

I dont know what one piece is . I dont know 1000nds of mysteries in this series even after 1072 episodes and 1090 chapters . The curiosity it builts inside you is just brilliant and to unravel those secrets one by one makes you feel like you are a part of strawhats experiencing every thing as if you are in that world
Unlike many people I never saw any of these AMVs or reviews on One Piece before diving in. In 2015 when I started anime as a whole I was overwhelmed by how many stories were out there that I never heard of. Opening Crunchyroll for the first time was like stepping into a whole new world. One Piece was the 3rd anime I watched. I saw one poster of it and thought "I'm not sure I'll like this." But my curiosity won out and I started watching it. I came it expecting some goofy childish cartoon, and while it is Goofy, it gave me far more than I could've possibly imagined. A huge and rich world, characters so lovable I consider them my 2nd family, and an Odyssey of fun, adventure, laughs, tears, and goosebumps. This story continues to become more dear to me than any other work or fiction
The thing that makes One Piece stand out to me is the fact that it not just touches on, but dives fully and very deeply into subjects such as racism, government corruption, slavery, political issues, social injustice, etc etc, and it does it while keeping it fully within it's own fantasy world, but it still fully reflects onto our own modern society, without even hinting at it or trying to
To sum One Piece's story, which hasn't finished yet, there's still a lot of stuff to happen, but we're nearing the end, I'd give it 5-10 more years. But anyway, the main storyline is about Luffy, the protagonist, and his crew, The Straw Har pirates getting into piracy due to different reasons, but one thing that they have in common is that all of them are following their dreams and trying to acomplish them, Luffy's dream is to get the One Piece treasure and become the next King of the Pirates, basically to acomplish what Roger did. The other's dreams you'll see if you decide to start watching the series. One Piece has at the moment 11 different sagas, each one with a couple, if not more, different story arcs in them. And is in each one of these sagas and arcs that the secondary storylines in One Piece are found, all of them connecting to the main one and some even between themselves. These storylines range in theme between a non deadly competition between pirate crews to stuff as hardcore as mass murder, slavery, racism, xenophobia, and of course, war. Also, I noticed you asking about famous real life pirats in the series, the answer is that One Piece happens in a fictional world with superpowers and all of that, there are no real life piracy figures, but Oda, the author and mangaka of One Piece, creates characters based on those figures, for example: (SMALL SPOILER AHEAD) The real life Blackbeard's name was Edward Teach, and in One Piece there are two pirates based off of him, Edward Newgate, with the nickname Whitebeard, and Marshall D. Teach, conviniently nicknamed Blackbeard(he's the one that says the last phase in the video "People's dreams never end").
I always get excited seeing new people take interest in One Piece. I myself only caught up last year. But had attempted OP in the past and just never made it long enough to truly stick with the series. I now am a bit sad I could have know this story a decade sooner. But its really never too late to get into this story. Its fun, wild and emotional. The world is huge expansive and creative. The characters are well rounded with deep connections and well written stories and goal. The sad moments will make you cry over and over and the moments that make you happy can just make you smile at the thought of them. I know you're building up to it but if you do end of watching or reading (or doing both) for this series i hope you have fun and come to enjoy the world and characters we all love. BTW love your Kazuha and Scara prints. I follow that artist online and I adore their style. Also love the keyblade in the back. My own room is just decked in Genshin, KH, Persona and well now a ton of OP stuff.
Oh god i didn't know this Video existed. Just watching your reaction gave me an absolute wired nostalgia trip of the past 20 Years... even if i don't keep up every week nowadays. This Series is amazing and i can only recomend watshing it, even if it drags on sometimes. (And don't worry, there is no need to be up to date in weeks or whatever, so take your time if you decide to watch it)
One Piece is such a journey and honestly worth every minute, such an incredible show! Now if you could it'd be great to see you react to funny One Piece moments honestly.
Yessss there is a Blackbeard in this series and many, many more references to real-world pirates and world events (beyond piracy) If you remember the opening you reacted to where in the middle of the opening there was a pause in the song and a little conversation/fight Luffy had with another character - that is Blackbeard ☠️
Every island has a center square or a capital depends of the size, districts and cultures, inspired by real things but also very creative, The One Piece world is ridiculous yet feels real somehow. The World Building is One Piece. Peak Fiction
The best feature of One Piece is that the world doesn't revolve around the main characters, its the main characters that revolve around the world. Just when you thought the Strawhats have done something incredible and 'history changing', you realise its very insignificant towards the world and it's history. It is only in the last 2 arcs that the ones that rule the world finally take Luffy seriously and start making a move.
There is a movie that recaps the first 100 manga chapters/60 anime episodes in 106 minutes called "One Piece: Episode of East Blue". then there is a couple more recapping the 2 next major arcs so you can check out 1/3rd of the series in 3 movies worth of time.
What is the most amazing is the fact that this video was made by a fan - Strawhat V. It amazingly encapsulates one half of the One Piece world (its beautiful diversity), while the second, more darker one, is greatly summed up in another video made by the same person - "Unleashed - Final Saga Trailer". I recommend it to you - although it contains spoilers, but they are not visible for a new fan, because recognizing them requires some knowledge about the events in the series. And that video is also top tier.
To provide some context to the geography of One piece, where Earth has multiple giant continents across the globe, the world of one piece has a single continent that splits the globe. The rest is all water. The majority of locations in one piece are all islands of varying sizes and climates.
Because you asked whether Oda would do other stories in his world after One Piece is over, next year, "Monsters", which was also done by Oda, will be released as an anime. It's a pre-One Piece story. It is considered canon to the current One Piece story. If you get the chance, you should check it out when it releases.
This video made me want to go to the One Piece world in order to explore it in person which they extended by showing more of the world from not only the anime / movies / ovas / specials, but for Oda I love the fact that he built this world basing it on various locations that you can find in our world or based on fictional/ legends along with that they added what kind of species exist, culture, & weather conditions
Minor spoiler as answer to your question. The guy talking in the end about dreams was blackbeard, so yes he is in there like many characters have real life inspiration
She's definitely gonna watch it. It is more insane than everyone could every think of. It has so many layers that I even think that Oda is not Human anymore.
If you want more introductory videos to One Piece, you should also check out Melonteee's "The One Piece Video", and SuperEyepatchWolf's "The Appeal of One Piece" and "Why You Should Watch/Read One Piece". The former is a bit more memey and fun, and she has a lot of great character analysis videos for when you're actually caught up on the series. None of these has any significant spoilers, and they're geared towards newcomers, though I feel obligated to mention that "Why You Should Watch/Read" does reveal the backstory of a significant villain, so maybe steer clear of that one, or have someone find the time stamps for you to skip it.
@@Ozgarthefighter which ones do you think are significant? She's already familiar with some aspects of One Piece so it's not like she's going in fully blind, especially not after watching the openings, and I can't remember any big spoilers in the videos.
@KaregoAt first one has Señor Pink's backstory, which admittedly isn't major, but the second video has Doffy's backstory, which is kind of a big deal. That said, as spoilers go, they're not terrible.
@@Ozgarthefighter Yeah, I'll give you that Doffy's is a bit more important. I'll amend my recommendation. Melon's video is still great to me though, with nothing important revealed. And still, One Piece is one of those series where aside from a couple BIG things, getting spoiled doesn't really diminish your enjoyment. I got spoiled about the big donut moment, and it still got me.
For reference for how long it takes to at least read One Piece, there's a UA-camr called Totally Not Mark who did a blind review of every arc in One Piece, and it took him about 6 months to get to the current events in the story. But if it makes you feel better, he pretty consistently said "this is the best arc Oda has written" for every new arc, except for Thriller Bark, but it was still good with great stuff in it.
I've been rewatching the show bit by bit over the last year with my bf. He had always been curious about it but had never seen much of it. It was also such a daunting task with over 1000 episodes to go. We ended up watching a few episodes every time we ate lunch together and it became a kinda thing to eat and watch. We're caught up now and he is so amazed by how the series is still going so strong despite its length. I highly recommend watching. Some of the later arcs are best enjoyed when consumed multiple episodes at a time. Dressrosa fatigue was a thing the community was plagued with for real, but I gotta say if you binge through those lengthy parts it's no problem at all.
I've said this one hundred times on other's videos and I'll say this again "this amv is hats off the best introduction of One Piece world. Literally Breathtaking"
I love this anime. I watched this video fir the first time. This is very impressive. All the landscapes from one piece. I sm e real fun but this is the first time i saw this video. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽💯

Your comment about other stories, every OP fan would love the stories based on characters we learn from the previous gen of characters in this story. The old generation of characters could easily have their own stories .
If you want to watch One Piece, my advise is just take your time and enjoy it. You dont have to worry about catching up asap. Its the journey that matters 😁
You are right we have blackbeard in one piece. The last line: People's dreams never ends is actually said by Blackbeard. We also have whitebeard and brownbeard.
I have watched "The Breathtaking World of One Piece" so many times. But for some reason, this time I got chills and was actually teary-eyed by the end. That has never happened to me before, so I don't know why it suddenly happened this time watching it with you. But One Piece is such a great, in-depth story. The world is huge, and the characters are vast.
Does it have Blackbeard in it she asks💀 But yes, there are two characters based Edward Teach. They each get one half of his name. Actually there’s a ton of famous pirates (and sailors) he’s taken inspiration from. And a lot of times he includes part of their name in the character’s name. But sometimes he doesn’t.
I'm all in for it. Don't feel discouraged by the amount of episodes or that people say it took over a year to watch. A year is basically nothing in a whole lifetime, but this show is a great task in a lifetime. Greetings from germany!
you should definitely watch it, but I recommend using One Pace whenever possible, as the pacing can get really bad, especially after the time skip. Earlier arcs aren't as bad with the pacing, but there are some filler arcs at first before they switch to just padding out the individual episodes instead.
It similar like a real world, america back then was called a new world, pirates and kingdom from europe rushing to go there, to claim a new islands, gold, and to see the world people never see. North america, carribean, aztec empire, amazon, and antartica
the universe of one piece is so ridiculuously massive to the point that you will be able to make new series for EACH character with a story that is totally relevant and parallel with the main plot of one piece itself 😂
Besides the Narrator from the beginning all Voices you hear are Characters in the Series (the Narrator is ofc the Narrator in the series aswell). R.I.P Kiryu Arimoto
So, the path to finding the One Piece includes circumnavigating the world. There may be some final plotlines to resolve after our heros find the One Piece, but most of the story happens along the way. The show appeals to many, many people for a wide variety of reasons. It does a lot of things really well - worldbuilding, characterization, fight sequences, and both short and long storylines in a variety of genres. It feels like a story that is constantly reinventing itself without losing sight of it's central goal or core cast of characters. It even pushes the boundaries of what is possible in storytelling in really impressive ways at times. I hope you enjoy the incredible journey!
One Piece as Heyfucksom says in their comment but also out sold Spiderman and Batman. Also there is another one called The Appeal Of One Piece but it does have a few small spoiler in it talking about some the character but does give great understanding of it too. The story can make you laugh and then cry seconds later or be angry the emotions you can have is great.
Please react to "Why you should watch/read One Piece" or "The Appeal of One Piece"! Both amazing videos, if you enjoyed this one you'll love those for sure.
As a manga reader of One Piece from the beginning (1997), this video is wonderful. It doesn't show spoil thing but just all the world of OP showed since the beginning. The music choice was beautiful also. One piece have way more islands to see than in a Wow (from Blizzard) lool If a MMORPG gonna out we gonna have so many time to spend in all these world of OP. Have fun watching the Anime of OP.

"The appeal of one piece" by super eyepatch wolf is also a great watch aswell I always send it to my friends who wanna start one piece🤣
Also, I noticed you asking about famous real life pirats in the series, the answer is that One Piece happens in a fictional world with superpowers and all of that, there are no real life piracy figures, but Oda, the author and mangaka of One Piece, creates characters based on those figures, for example:
(SMALL SPOILER AHEAD)
The real life Blackbeard's name was Edward Teach, and in One Piece there are two pirates based off of him, Edward Newgate, with the nickname Whitebeard, and Marshall D. Teach, conviniently nicknamed Blackbeard(he's the one that says the last phase in the video "People's dreams never end").
Wow... I didn't even knew this video existed. What an amazing video, specially for someone like me who has been watching One Piece for years.
"People's dreams... never end!"
This sentence was pure childhood. btw a quote from Blackbeard ;)
Yessss there is a Blackbeard in this series and many, many more references to real-world pirates and world events (beyond piracy)
If you remember the opening you reacted to where in the middle of the opening there was a pause in the song and a little conversation/fight Luffy had with another character - that is Blackbeard ☠️
Every island has a center square or a capital depends of the size, districts and cultures, inspired by real things but also very creative,
The One Piece world is ridiculous yet feels real somehow. The World Building is One Piece. Peak Fiction
as a manga reader this has to be one of my fave videos for one piece becaus i dont ususally get to see the colours of the worlds unless i watch clips
6:18 yes floating island in the skies exist here
The best feature of One Piece is that the world doesn't revolve around the main characters, its the main characters that revolve around the world.
Just when you thought the Strawhats have done something incredible and 'history changing', you realise its very insignificant towards the world and it's history. It is only in the last 2 arcs that the ones that rule the world finally take Luffy seriously and start making a move.
this story is a blessing for the soul. nothing like it. please experience this.
I was taken aback when the bada bada booyee song started, wasnt expecting that haha
Fun fact... this isnt even the whole world. There's still places we didn't get too... Yeah let that sink in after watching this 🤯🤯🤯
There is a movie that recaps the first 100 manga chapters/60 anime episodes in 106 minutes called "One Piece: Episode of East Blue". then there is a couple more recapping the 2 next major arcs so you can check out 1/3rd of the series in 3 movies worth of time.
I swear every time i watch that video I can't help but cry. it's overwhelming how beautiful One Piece is. It gives me goosebumps
She's definitely gonna watch it. It is more insane than everyone could every think of. It has so many layers that I even think that Oda is not Human anymore.
HOLY CRAP you actually watched the video??? Im so freaking happy
People's Dream Never End!!!! such a great quote
My only caution for these videos is that there are spoilers.
Glad to see someone else recommend Melon Tree!
The greatest story ever to be told.
" peoples dreams never end" you guys know who said that 😏
I still get chills every time I watch that video.
I see you have a poster of Jinx and Vi on your wall. If you liked the psychological conflicts in Arcane, you will trully fall in love with One Piece. It is a master work that everyone should watch.
8:42a planet larger than Jupiter with 7 moons. 200,000+ islands (there are islands the size of Canada) and 1 continent. and 40 humanoid species have been revealed by now. Not race but spicies (human, Giant, dwarf, fishman EST)
"Does it have blackbeard in it?"
ZEYHAHAHA ZEYHAHAHA
Possibly the greatest one piece video ever created actually.
if you wanted a deeper look into the why One Piece is so unique and mesmerising you should react to "The appeal of One Piece where to start" it's really a good video to dip your toe in
Tq for taking my recommendation into consideration.
"Does it have like blackbeard and stuff" 😂😂
Good luck G. You'll need it with how long you'll be on this train!
Your comment about other stories, every OP fan would love the stories based on characters we learn from the previous gen of characters in this story. The old generation of characters could easily have their own stories .
It's one of the best videos I've seen to visually get people to consider One Piece. The story is immense, and the world is truly breathtaking.
If you want to watch One Piece, my advise is just take your time and enjoy it. You dont have to worry about catching up asap. Its the journey that matters 😁
Welcome to the one piece world and can't Waite to watch episode 1 reaction with you 🙂
Its shifted from reaction to staring in awe at one of the best made one piece majestic video for straight 8 min.
You are right we have blackbeard in one piece. The last line: People's dreams never ends is actually said by Blackbeard.
We also have whitebeard and brownbeard.
People's dream will never end- BlackBeards dialogue in OnePiece
ONE PIECE - UNLEASHED
If she starts reacting to One Piece, I can see her channel blowing up just like Merphy Napier's did!
Not only it has Blackbeard in it but the last line of the video is actually from him.
Didn't expect Dark Knight theme to be paired with One Piece lol
Besides the Narrator from the beginning all Voices you hear are Characters in the Series (the Narrator is ofc the Narrator in the series aswell).
R.I.P Kiryu Arimoto
Melon tree’s “The One Piece Video” is a great way to get some more spoiler free info about the show.
I hope you enjoy the incredible journey!
winners become justice is the coldest line ever in anime manga
One Piece as Heyfucksom says in their comment but also out sold Spiderman and Batman. Also there is another one called The Appeal Of One Piece but it does have a few small spoiler in it talking about some the character but does give great understanding of it too. The story can make you laugh and then cry seconds later or be angry the emotions you can have is great.
I don’t think I spotted Whiskey Peak island in the video
Sadge
Giant ‘cactus’ island is an awesome arc
One piece is a world where anything you can dream of can happen. And, it's written incredibly well for something with limitless possibilities.
I binged the HELL out of this show.
Please react to "Why you should watch/read One Piece" or "The Appeal of One Piece"! Both amazing videos, if you enjoyed this one you'll love those for sure.
One piece is amazing in every way, I am always excited to see this video of how abundant and huge the world of One piece is. ♥♥ ♥
Yesss she reacted to it 🎉
