"Let him run. Let him live. But do not forget what we cannot forgive." The most powerful lyrics I have ever even heard! This song especially gives me goosebumps. For days. UGH SO GOOOOOOD!
+Allison McElveen It was so sad though, simba didn't even let Kovu speak, just like Zira sang in her song, "I've been exiled, prosecuded, left alone with no defense", that made me get dissapointed in Simba...
RichardGaming I think simba was traumatized from what happened in the first movie he exiled anyone who affiliated with scar. In a way I don't blame him but then on the other hand Kiara was right you can't banish someone you don't like. You need a reason. But again I get why he did that. He was partially right kovu WAS going to do it until he fell in love with kiara so you can't blame simba 100 percent
I thought exactly the same way, he was right, Kovu wanted to kill Simba until Kiara happened, but Simba didn't know any of his plans, but still, when he said exile that made me be a bit angry at him :P
"born in grief, raised in hate, helpless to defy his fate, let him run, let him live, but do not forget what we cannot forgive" CHILLS. ALL THE CHILLS. duck with a typewriter.
Very true. The funny thing is I was actually already an adult when I first watched them all : the first one in 2005, and the other two few years after. Yet, the lessons in the movies still rings true.

My song for my cousin who betrayed my family's trust multiple times. She deserves hell. A couple years back she said that she changed her ways but it turned out to be a lie just like all the other times she said that to us.
This is one damn good song the lion king does not disappoint. I relate it to my bf who cheated on me. He was close to my family but he deceived us all and lied to us so he's not allowed near my family again. When my dad told him to never come back I played this song in my head. especially the words....deception....disgrace
CountryButterfly56789 it's ok I guess it's a life lesson. I love too hard and sometimes you're blinded by love you don't want to see the reality and I paid for it. But you know eventually I got over it learned from it and moved on. It's a terrible feeling but there's plenty fish in the sea
I feel such an important element in this song , it’s my all time favourite out of the whole soundtrack - the song perfectly contradicts and opposites “we are one” making Simba a hypocrite in his own teaching , painting this picture of differences against similarities- and as such , like reality we have differences should we be cast aside because of them? This movie seperates two sides of the same species , very much alike what humans tend to do - everything that breathes everything that lives is apart of the circle of life , accept differences accept similarities live as one. Secondly the song itself sets an amazing tone as well as an even better message , the drums , the vocals and most importantly the lyrics “deception, disgrace , evil as plain as the scar on his face” clear elements of judgement - “someone once lied to us now we’re not so kind” it’s difficult and I see a sense of responsibility, yet misunderstanding , making judgement based on background and mis interpretation because Kovu actually was having a change of heart
Lion King is a LEGEND! I luv Lion King! I have tons of stuffed toy Simbas! Simba is my favourite character as a kid. But know, my fav character in TLK is Rafiki! He is Yoda of the Savannah!
@smokeyhyena I think that it's because the hyenas allied themselves with Scar like the outlanders did. And I also think that it's mentioned that the hyenas left in the movie itself.
75 people are not one of us! By the way, I'm 14 and yet I have watched both movies. loving both movies since I was young. as a child, I never got what the movie meant. but it has taught me so much now. Edit: Jeez, I was 14 now I'm going to be 17 this year and I still love it.
I bloody LOVE this song! It is seriously so amazing, like all TLK songs :D I'd say my favourite part is before they start singing. Just that first twenty seconds or so of instrumental. Pure musical perfection :)
I started playing the song, and after I read the message you wrote at the beginning, I was thinking "Yea, it would be good if it would play..." then I looked at my speaker and realized it wasn't on.
he might not of been so prejudice if Scar hadn't killed his father and took over his kingdom D: Might of been different if Mufasa hadn't died......((God Mufasa's death kills me everytime T_T!!!))
you know, I was planning on writing a fic where because of this, that Kiara's evil side gets the best of her and she defects to the outsiders to plot to kill Simba in revenge for him exiling Kovu.
I love this song, even though it's really sad. Poor Kovu. I honestly hated Simba in this scene. He and Kovu were actually starting to bond, he wouldn't listen to Kovu when the ambush arrived, and then when Kovu arrived at Pride Rock and was completely at Simba's mercy, Simba chose to exile him and not even bother to hear out his side of the story. Plus, why would Simba think Kovu set him up when Simba took Kovu to that area? Thats just idiotic on Simba's part. But, I'm glad Simba finally realised his mistakes and accepted Kovu and the rest of the pride. That's why I love this franchise. 🙂
This song is really amazing, they REALLY want him out of there. Now imagine 6-10 people singing this just for you with the support of like 100 more! Its really supressing

Anyone notice how 90s disney cartoons taught us life lessons that now make sense as adults

Kiara was soooo heartbroken during this song :(((((((
Good for her I would be too because Simba should not have been singing that one because he was just singing to Kiara 6 minutes before we are one
