My husband cried harder than I’ve ever seen him cry in any movie before at the theater while watching this and we both ugly cried. I cried with him-for him because I knew exactly why he was crying. Edit: we were crying over the recent death of my husband’s beloved grandmother which obviously ties in directly to the movie. The guy below me decided that’s an annoying thing to say or relate to though so, sorry for the comment. I guess I can’t say anything without being a nuisance these days but that’s the internet I suppose.
Watch this film. It is so beautiful, heart-wrenching and beautifully told. You will love Marcel and his sassy personality. Great film. Honestly, bawled my eyes out. I ugly cried. But it was cathartic.
I would’ve never thought I’d see Marcel on the big screen, nor would I of thought that A24 of all studios, would be producing. Even though I haven’t seen the film (and I’m 99% sure it’ll be absolutely fantastic) I now want an A24 production of Klay World. I need to see my little blue klay dudes on the big screen.🤞
I recall from a few years ago, my 7th grade research teacher decided to show the class a funny skit and Marcel the shell first popped up. She is very beautiful, cute, understandable and the type of imaginary friend you could ever dream of as a little child. I loved Dean and Jenny recording a filmed documentary in animated stop motion. Marcel the Shell has been a good part of nostalgia in my childhood. Now that I found that this was turned into a movie just brightens me up and my heart! Thanks to A24 for redeeming probably everybody's childhood from the times they saw the shorts and adapting them into something bigger.
My husband and I just watched the early screening and Marcel the shell with shoes on has become one of my all time favorites ! 🐚 👟 Such beautiful movie, so deep, so heartfelt so uplifting 💕
I saw this at Telluride last year and let me say, it quickly became the best thing I saw the entire year. I was sad to hear it hadn’t gotten picked up yet but knew it would in time. Glad to see it’s coming out and I hope it gets all of the praise it deserves!
I work at a movie theater and unfortunately we’re not showing this, but we received a poster of it to advertise. After I worked until 3 in the morning one shift, my boss let me pick any poster I wanted as a thank you. I picked this poster and as soon as I got home I showed it to my parents and promptly burst into tears because it’s just a little fella,, with shoes. The cinematic equivalent of a hug. I love him.
Just saw the movie. I’m adopted and the plot resonated with me hard. This is the first movie that made me cry the whole way through. So good and touching!

OH MY LORD!! after all these years they finally made a film. My students introduced me to Marcel and we had the best laughs watching him 🤣🤣 what great memories.
First of all, it looks absolutely brilliant, yet I do hope the "real people" don't take up too much space. Was actually thinknig at the beginning (and hoping) he would go on his journey with very little to none human interaction. Hope the movie is heartwarming anyhow ^^
When I made my list of top 10 movies of 2022, Marcel came in at my number two spot just below Everything Everywhere All At Once. It does seem kind of odd that my two favorite movies from last year had one that was a sprawling epic that stretched across multiple universes and multiple timelines, and was a master in acting and visual storytelling, and the other was a simple heartwarming movie about a little shell.
A24 studios has been killing it lately with the films they choose to support. Apparently their latest movie, "Talk to Me" is like, the must see movie of the year.
I just watched this movie for the first time last night and I was bawling. I had know acknowledge of who Marcel was besides this movie and I was just blown away! A beautifully, poignant, emotionally stirring, richly profound masterpiece with a LOT to say about life. This is probably my favorite A24 film rn and that's saying something EEAAO came out the same year. Watch this movie pls, you'll be surprised how a movie about a talking shell w shoes can not only make you sob, but make you reflect on your life and appreciating it as well as those around you. 10/10
Great use of a song I have adored since its release, and it always meant something much deeper to me, and this films catches what it is. That yearning for whats lost and perhaps can, and perhaps can't, be found. I was 13 when the song came out, and was at a school that I felt completely out of my depth in, and this song took me home. It's time the world realised just how damned cool and talented Phil Collins is.
This looks like one of the cutest, most heart warming, and most imaginative movies made in a long time. And in today's world, we need more movies like this.

How have I only just found out about this? Marcel the shell with shoes on was me and my mates’ fave thing, we would quote it at each other and make up new statements for him ALL the time - I’m so so so happy this exists
My friend and I just left the theater seeing this and it’s by far one of best things I’ve ever watched in my life.
Everyone needs to watch this, this is the kind of film that deserves everyone’s attention and the perfect family film.
In an industry almost obsessed with its own mediocrity, A24 is out here on a mission to constantly redefine what a film is. I am so fucking grateful.
🤦🤦
@@claytondroughty1620 yeah his grandma’s pretty recent death is definitely something to be annoyed at. Wow people are Unbelievable
@@katykins2010 double cringe and more face palms SMH 😏

Hey, thank you for sharing! My grandma Coco is 97 and I bawled with this movie because we’ve had close calls with her. Ignore the trolls.
This looks like an honest to God delight.
not him standing in his own puddle of tears i cannot
Watch this film. It is so beautiful, heart-wrenching and beautifully told. You will love Marcel and his sassy personality. Great film. Honestly, bawled my eyes out. I ugly cried. But it was cathartic.
I would’ve never thought I’d see Marcel on the big screen, nor would I of thought that A24 of all studios, would be producing.
Even though I haven’t seen the film (and I’m 99% sure it’ll be absolutely fantastic) I now want an A24 production of Klay World. I need to see my little blue klay dudes on the big screen.🤞
A24 is just distributing it, they didn't produce the movie.
@@CarlHH777 I don’t get how people confuse this.
It's about time A24 made a film for all ages. Can't wait to see this one
A24 isn't about films for all ages. If you want kids films then don't go to A24
@@tastycookiechip, Right, but I guess it’s just refreshing to see them release something like this among their darker content.
@@tastycookiechip You’re such a BIG BOY, wow!
@@tastycookiechip Well A24 clearly disagrees with you :V
@@tastycookiechip Your reading comprehension needs a bit of work.
I can't wait to meet Marcel and watch this over and over again.
“Don’t use me as an excuse not to live.”
Words to live by.
You know it's going to be a good one when Phill Collins sings
My husband and I just watched the early screening and Marcel the shell with shoes on has become one of my all time favorites ! 🐚 👟 Such beautiful movie, so deep, so heartfelt so uplifting 💕
saw this movie today… i don’t think i’ve ever cried so hard at a movie ever in my life
I saw this at Telluride last year and let me say, it quickly became the best thing I saw the entire year. I was sad to hear it hadn’t gotten picked up yet but knew it would in time. Glad to see it’s coming out and I hope it gets all of the praise it deserves!
Movie is getting wide release soon. What do you think ?
who would have guessed that 2022’s a24 coming-of-age film would be about an anthropomorphic shell
I lost it when he said "Grandma make the noise, *tick tick tick*" LMAO
Im crying right now. Thank you for coming back. I cannot wait to see this journey.
I love him.
A24 Don’t you dare ever stop with these stories and movies! So damn different and good!
Omg Marcel is finally getting the shine he deserves!! I’ve been watching these vids for 10+ yrs😭😭
Just saw the movie. I’m adopted and the plot resonated with me hard. This is the first movie that made me cry the whole way through. So good and touching!
i’m so glad i wasn’t the only person who cried during the whole thing 😭 i know the people in my theater were seriously concerned
If, for whatever reason, you are feeling lonely and out of touch with ones around you, know your best friends, your tribe is out there; you just haven't met yet. Stay strong, stay kind, especially towards yourself.
Take Me Home is one of the most breath-taking songs of all time... With all that's going on in the world. A little music from a legendary artist is not a bad thing.🤗🤩😍
Thank you Phil Collins 😀
One of my top songs ever made by one of my two favorite singer songwriters ever (the other being Peter Gabriel haha)
Just saw it today. I was laughing and tearing up the whole time. Such a wholesome sad but heartwarming movie. Already planning to see it again
It does look like a majority of the human interaction is gonna be with the documentarian, who I cannot imagine a Marcel thing without.
I watched this on the plane back from Mexico and it was so beautiful! Such an amazing story! ❤️❤️❤️ Highly recommended!!
This just made me cry because I have been reconnecting and this reminded me of that.
Never would have thought Marcel The Shell would get a feature release. And with A24...
the wholesomeness energy from this film is off the charts
“The space in my heart gets bigger and louder everyday” oh my goodness
The love and nostalgia I have for this little shell.
I love that marcel is getting a full movie. I always remembered the short series when it started on UA-cam.
This was the most precious movie I have ever watched.
This movie is so good. Just go see it if you haven't already.
I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.
I am an adult and went to see this by myself after seeing the previews.
So glad I did. It’s a cute little movie.
This looks adorable, and it’s gonna make me cry I can tell.
I can’t believe they did it ! They made a movie I remember this little shell and the joy it brought me ❤
I taught a high school animation class including stop mo. We all adored Marcel and so we got a hermit crab, Marcel and a wife Michelle. Tiny marriage license glued to the tank. So sweet, so fun.
This is gonna be a very good family movie. Also the song is perfect for the trailer
One of the most wholesomeness movies I have ever seen ❤️
Literally crying this makes my heart so so happy.
