I think the plot progressed to a whole new point. Now that nezuko conquers the sun, muzan will hunt her down and so now this makes the story more up close and personal.

Nezuko conquering the sun actually has to do with buddhism and karma. So basically after Muzan became a demon and killed the doctor, he was punnished by not being able to walk under the sun. And later, after killing and eating humans and turning people into demons which themselves killed and ate a lot of people he was punnished by Yoriichi's birth. And after Yoriichi failed to kill Muzan, he left breathing techniques to people to defeat Muzan. So basically, cuz Nezuko never ate or killed a human, and actually helped to defeat demons, she was unpunnished for Muzan's sins and she can walk under the sun

On why was Nezuko able to conquer the sun, is by proving it by helping in killing the two upper moons, the Ubuyashiki family was also able to prove it by killing Muzan, after the last fight Kagaya's son lived above 100 years
I don't get the argument that there are no longer stakes. The end of the finale literally shows us that Muzan is aware of her sun immunity and now has her on watch and wants to smoke her pack for that Sun Immunity.

The reason why she could is because her mom gave her blue spider lily soup when she got sick one time. And that information isn't in the main story. It's in some guide book that doesn't even have an official translation.

Most of the "how's" and the "why's" in DS were much clearer in the manga than the anime, basically since ufotable just doesn't want to have a narrator in this show.
The blue spider lily thing should have been shown in Season 1 Ep 19, and in Nezuko's flashback in Season 2 Ep 9, since in that flashback the Kamado Mom were actually taking both of them to the blue spider lily spot to make some wicked soup for them dad (as far as I know).
Also, counter argument to your "I will just drop my sword since Nezuko is okay now", he basically can't at this point, because big boss Muzan's new exciting mission is eating her sister Nezuko. He needs the whole DS corp now more than ever.

@@cutecorgiis5230Tanjiro is not, and never has been, motivated by revenge. If Nezuko was cured right now, if he hadn’t developed another goal, he would definitely not pursue this any longer, considering we already know he doesn’t care about climbing the ranks or going far as a Demon Slayer.
However, Tanjiro very much makes it his goal to help *everyone* suffering under Muzan’s cruelty. Muzan is still *currently* making people suffer, and Tanjiro could never turn his back on people like that.
Also, yeah this guy’s point really is just kinda stupid, because her being immune to the sun doesn’t make her not a demon. It doesn’t make her able to eat normal food, she still lacks a functioning brain for her age, and also, as Tanjiro noted already, that she’ll end up outliving literally everyone she loves, especially Tanjiro, and end up all alone when they all inevitably die - which imo is definitely worse and more painful than dying from old age.

To say I cried is an absolute understatement. When I read the manga I didnt cry that much, but oh my god, ufotable made the scene of nezuko conquering the sun so much more emotional and beautiful.
I think most people are completely overlooking the visual metaphors and spiritual parallels that this story displays. I think it's a beautiful story that incorporates many elements that represent Japanese identity and History. Tanjiro is the rising sun who illuminates the beauty and flaws in the humans of the show as well as in the Demons; Nezuko is the Sun Goddess who blesses him with Protection and the Kagura is the dance to bring her from the darkness and restore radiance in their time. If you ask me, the writing is solid, and makes the best of it's relationship with the visual media it goes hand-in-hand with.
Metaphors and parallels don't fix bad writing. That's like making a burnt cake and covering it with the best icing, it's still a bad cake. Not to mention even if you considered it from your point of view it still doesn't fix the story's issues.

I understand what you’re getting at but like, me personally: those metaphors honestly kind of fall flat at a certain point because of how the story attempts to portray them.
Even if I did wholeheartedly agree Tanjiro and Nezuko aren’t in a vacuum and their metaphors don’t help other parts of the story. Like, I could sit here and point out the metaphors and meaning in Ochako from MHA’s quirk and personality. It isn’t going to change the fact that her character gets sidelined and degraded to nothing
There’s already a huge clue when Muzan said that he doesn’t need the blue lily flower or whatever. In season 1 when Tanjiro was about to die from Rui’s attack, there was a brief moment when the blue flower appeared in his memories when he was a kid. I don’t wanna spoil myself and the others, but I created some theories of my own that might’ve affected Nezuko when she was little
For all of yall wondering Nezuko’s immunity to sun and where it came from, spoilers kinda but it’s never explicitly stated in the story of the manga so idk if the anime will too. Well from what I remember
But apparently their mother knew the location of the Blue Spider Lily that Muzan was looking for and had fed some of it coincidentally to her children. Only her and Tanjiro apparently knew of the location afterward. So that’s why.. Nezuko is sun immune supposedly.

as a biology major, i was surprised why so many people didn't like the idea or understand that nezuko was able to conquer the sun 😂 it's mutation! the part where they pointed out that her blood composition was able to change many times over the years, was enough for an explanation for me.
plot doesn't work like real life. These are characters not people. Shes not made up of cells, shes a character written by somebody. We are trying to figure out why this writer undid one of the most essential story beats to their story off screen.
@@petormaculan5424 the "true reason" to why nezuko was able to conquer the sun was indeed not stated, but you can't imply that my tidbits are not "viable" because "plot doesn't work like real life." the characters were made to "live/follow" along the basic foundations of a human life, but more fictitious elements where added that's why it's fiction. the other instance that the plot had followed real-life events is how mitsuri's hair turned that way it is right now--eating too much food can change your appearance based on what pigment there is in your food (there is a condition where you can turn orange if you eat too much carrots due to the pigment carotenoid in carrots). this was even stated in one of the taisho secrets.
So…she’s the chosen one? Tell me how in the hundreds to possibly thousands of years did not a single demon develop this mutatoon if it only takes a few years to develop. Not to mention that we never see another demon not eat people for some reason. This isnt biology-based, its bad writing

Muzan acknowledged that he turns people into demon in hope that one of them would mutate to become sunlight resistant and that it was his backup plan because he couldn’t find the blue spider lily so seeing Nezuko who already deviated a lot from the other demons conquering the sun makes sense

In the Demon Slayer manga,it specifically states that the effects of the elements aren’t actually there,what we see in the anime is just like the perspective of the characters in the show imagining what is there. However,there are some effects that are real,like when Tengen Uzui fights,his sound breathing actually does make loud “booming” sounds when he clashes with his cleavers. There is a couple more examples but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
It says that but doesn’t make sense as the effect work sometimes like how Rengoku’s flames made him hover and with one swing several attacks from akaza were blocked or how zenitsu was literally flying with his electricity against dak. Not to mention how Rengoku’s 9th form lit up a large area to the point you could see the light from where Tanjiro was standing and made an explosion. All this happened in the manga too

@@godofdrip4889 These swordsmen are superhumans, but they're not magicians or wizards so those flames and shit can't get real. Unless they're demons and have those blood demon art or they actually show that they use real materials to create those effects, those things aren't real but merely visual representation.
It could appear that those flames were doing something more than they're supposed to, but as far as the story goes it's nothing but Rengoku's skill. His 4th form appeared to make a wall of fire to block Akaza's air punches, but those were just there for so long because Rengoku was thinking in his mind and everything had to get slowed down for his thoughts to be shown. In actuality, he just heavily spins his sword to quickly deflect projectiles and attacks. The flames are just the representation of the exceptional strength in those swings whenever Rengoku breathes. And also, it lighting up the place and casting shadows on people is another visual effect that is merely on the characters' minds- endpoint is, Rengoku isn't a flame wizard.
Zenitsu's lightning isn't also real, but the vibration he produces from his feet causes for the crack of lightning sounds. As I said, style breather swordsmen are superhumans essentially, so him jumping from one place to another mid air and seemingly flying is just him being cracked and not because of the lightning he supposedly manifests.
As far as I am aware, the only breathing styles with realistic effects are Sound Breathing (bombs and stuff), Wind Breathing (his slashes are so strong it creates sharp and strong gusts of winds, but these strong winds are only a by-product of his slashes and not manifestation of wind through his Wind Breathing like he's an airbender), Beast Breathing (if you count the fang-like effects), and Moon Breathing, which is only because its one user is a goddamn demon. Mist Breathing which confused and killed Gyokko- the mist isn't actual mist, but an illusion of mist generated by Muichiro's fast-slow dynamic movement. The rest of the breathing styles are visual effects, unless you get demons that use breathing styles, in which case they have the capability to manifests the elements into reality through their blood demon art.
In short, the elements are merely visual effects (at least most of them). They're either interpretations, illusions, or by-products of their slashes- but they do not generate these elements like a magician. Unless they're a demon, that is. But yeah, these guys are superhuman swordsmen- not sword wizards.
Everyone needs to stop misinterpreting the quote. The effects ARE THERE, and felt and seen by everyone within the story. What the author was saying was that they aren’t actually producing the actual element of water, or fire, etc. As in, no one is getting wet when Tanjiro uses Water Breathing. Rengoku can’t light a candle on fire with Flame Breathing. But the effects/visuals coming off the blade are still there and are tangible.

The elemental effects are definitely real. Gyokko acknowledged the mist during his fight with muichiro in this very season not to mention multiple other moments throughout the series where the elemental effects have had a tangible effect on the fights that swinging a sword simply could not.
The manga explains how Mui's 7th form works the anime just kinda cut that part out

The reason nezuko is sun immune is cause her mom fed her and her siblings soup with blue spider lily in it (the flower muzan spent 1000 years looking for😂) so nah it’s not bs or asspull, she literally got fed the thing her entire life that made muzan a demon in the first place😂😂

Even though the effects aren't real, there are a lot of spiritual connections. Sun breathing has heavy inspiration from it which will be explained later in the story. So out of all the possible theories, the fact that tanjiro`s family practiced it is the reason they hint at being how nezuko conqured the sun
Author only said the affects aren’t there to try and sound cool or some shit. The way they use techniques to block or break falls is proof that this wasn’t her original intention for the affects. I guess zenetsu was just flying through the air in the entertainment district arc huh😂

To people that say there is no explanation as to how Nezuko survived? Did Tamayo not say it? Most newly creted demons growl until they learn to talk (like final selection demons) and Nezuko still acts like a child because she was focusing on evolving to survive the sun rather than evolving to speak/act of age. Imagine if they went deeper into nezuko's emotional state after seeing her brother get clapped so many times because of her, maybe you could bring in some demons that she can empathize with and try to save ultimately failing, maybe delve into the fact that she doesn't remember her exact family and thinks all humans are her family leading her to fits of rage seeing people killed. I know these ain't great but at least its something because goddamn

The reason Nezuko can walk in the sun is those flowers she used to collect on the mountain when she was still human (go rewatch episode 1) were actually the blue spider lilly that Muzan wanted so badly. As to why she was able to find them and Muzan couldn't that part is explained in the very last manga chapter so imma let the anime explain it to y'all when the time comes probs 3 years from now. (3 more arcs to go before demon slayer ends)

Side note, Can you imagine searching for a magic herb for centuries only to pull up and find out that it was used to make tea...Muzan was justified in what he did ntgl.

To be fair up to now smoking tanjiro was a side quest really infact I believe after mugen train. It been confirmed that demon slayer core is really a big side quest compared to conjuring his biggest weakness.
I think the thing I hate most about nezuko is the fact that she’s just not a character she doesn’t have any personality, no character traits, and didn’t even get to put her input on anything and it’s treated more like a dog than anything else. She’s cute mascot for the show and a plot device for Tanjiro. She sits in the box all day until tanjiro, needs her to come out and fight. She’s pretty much Pikachu and and tanjiro is ash.
Nezuko doesn’t even really get to mourn the death of her family we don’t even really see how she feels about her family being killed right in front of her. We only get tiny hints of it like after her fight with daki she cries over her mom but other than that she really doesn’t get to mourn the death of her family, and the fact that she hast to see them every single time she looks at a human even tho they’re dead is horrible.
And like you said she has way too much plot armor. The Girl hasn’t trained a day in her life and all of a sudden she’s just strong enough to beat a demon much stronger than her with much more experience. She could resist human blood, she broke out of muzans control, she could shrink, she unlocked her demon blood art, she unlocked her awaken form, started regenerating as fast as an upper moon, beat a demon much stronger than she is and conquered the sun.
And the fact that she just doesn’t have any character I can’t care about her. I didn’t even care about her sacrifice, because well I just don’t care about her at all. And the fact that she just got up just makes me carry even less.

i believe that nezuko conquered the sun from what i remember being the blue spider lily when she was a human, may have used it as a medicine or food of some sort, or the hinokami kagura dance had an effect to her perhaps giving her the resistance that is shown in the anime

And then theres people who shit on it for being a "turn your brain off show" without ever turning their brain on in the first place. Demon slayer is a 8/10 manga, but a 9-10/10 anime. It can be appreciated by those who want to understand the deeper meaning and cultural identity of the characters, and by those who want to watch it for pretty animation and hype.
