I lived in a city subdivision with no zoning. Without an HOA, an owner could raise hogs on those little lots. Or run a retail business on those narrow streets. An HOA is necessary.
Will some go overboard? They sure do. I have lived on acreage for many years so thank goodness no longer a worry.
ETA: I wrote my congressman. He thanked me, and said it was not his committee but he would vote for it on the floor.
Fortunately my HOA is okay with antennas. As far as they are concerned if things go south, we need radio communication. I'm also part of the HOA association and I've made a point about how important it is to be able to communicate if all other options are exhausted.
I’d like to see my HOA put up a Club Station that the licensed neighbors can use. It would never happen though because they don’t seem to want to know their subjects that closely.
HOA's can not discriminate any type of antennas such as Satellite Dishes/TV/CB/Ham etc. this includes apartment rentals as well. If they do you can get the FCC & other agencies of the government involved but unlikely they will do anything as they are so understaffed. I went through issues here & I stopped paying my HOA cause they kept harassing me to remove my omni directional antenna. I told them I will sell my place till then just leave alone as real estate market bad so it will be awhile.
The federal regulation is to allow video reception from small TV satellite dishes. CB and Ham are not included.
@@LeeMcc_KI5YPR Not here & they gave me issues for my TV antenna as well as my Antron 99 10 & 11 meter omni directional antenna as it was mounted on the edge of my balcony. My friend who rents a apartment the property manager made them remove their outdoor TV antenna. They kept it up till the maintenance man took it down.
Homeowner Association shouldn't have the right to tell Homeowners what can and cannot be done as far Antennas. That's the municipality's domain. If the Homeowner follows protocol set by municipality and the state, then there should not be any problem. Now if you rent or lease the property, then that's something different all together.
They have the right because in order to live there you sign a contract where they can.
@@oldjarhead386 Exactly. I lost count of how many times I've read stories of hams fighting an HOA when they willingly signed the HOA contract when they bought the home.

However, in the event of some disaster that will definitely lower your precious property values by a few cents, do not: Repeat, DO NOT RUN TO ME WITH YOUR DISASTER SOB STORY AND BEG ME TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE ON YOUR BEHALF. i WILL NOT ANSWER PHONE OR DOOR. YOYO.
This bill will never fly, most non ham radio operators hate these antennas we will never win. Its a dead bill.
