It seems that Jungle Fury relied less on the Sentai footage and created a lot more original content. I don’t know the reason but I think this made a huge difference. I loved how short the Zord fights were. As someone who grew up with the original MMPR, this series is exceptional.
@@wtroupe64wt Yes and no. A fully original series would require a large amount of additional spending for the Zords; There is little practical chance of Hasbro being willing to make a season without them as those are toys to sell. Unless they were willing to increase spending to create their own Zord footage and fights from scratch it is unlikely that they would consider such a move. On the other hand such objections would apply to the series as it stands. If they opted to branch out and create other Ranger based series outside the main show then this might be a possibility. Especially if, say, that series was not live action. Imagine, for example, a Power Ranger Animated Mini-Series in an Anime style. You automatically remove the need for expensive special effects such as Zords. Heck, an Animated Mini-Series like that could be made for a somewhat older audience, testing the waters and maybe getting those parents who watched Mighty Morphin back in the day back into the PR franchise - and hence maybe their kids. This would be especially well suited for an Animated series; They could bring the remaining cast of Mighty Morphin Back to voice their characters. But show them as being older, and have far more character building and 'adult/mature' tones. (Not sex, nudity etc. Rather more serious, with the old Rangers now understanding how dangerous things were and possibly having somewhat mixed feelings towards Zordan as a result.) Yes, I've thought of such things far too much on occasion.
Jungle Fury is easily one of the best seasons. The rangers were awesome, the villains were convincing, and the storytelling was appealing and interesting.
Paul Verner exactly. The Rangers actually struggled. Not the, one fight then megazord. I can't remember how many times the Five Fingers Of Poison beat the Rangers which made the Rangers' win so much better
The comments are actually somewhat surprising because I always saw Jungle Fury as underrated but half the responses to my videos are about how good everyone thought it was. Maybe it's because the people who hated it or never watched it didn't comment, but it strikes me now as way less underrated than I originally thought, lol.
I'd like an episode of Power Rangers where the villain they're fighting surrenders and they then have to enter a possible moral dilemma where they're not sure whether they should just execute the enemy like they usually do. It would probably have to be in a new season where the enemies always appear to silent emotionless creatures bent on destruction so it's more shocking when an enemy cries out begs for their life.
They've kind of done variations of the specific idea you're suggesting, and for the most part, I think it's a well executed concept. I'm not sure the more recent seasons would enjoy operating with moral ambiguity. I think Megaforce sort of tried that with an episode about a robot, but ehh, it was a little cringe, honestly.
I remember watching this back when I was ten years younger with my mom. Even she said that this season in particular was probably the best she's ever seen. That just shows how great this season of Power Rangers was.
I absolutely loved Jungle Fury, probably one of my favorite seasons. I think part of the reason why it is less talked about compared to others is due to people still being angry at Overdrive. I remember watching it and going to forums and most people were still angry over that. There were so few comments about Jungle Fury other than a few "oh so it is a rehash of Wild Force."
It's always been a fan wish of mine to see Cole and Casey interact. Both having feline zords and being inexperienced Red Rangers, And RJ and Merrick obviously due to both having wolf vibes going for them. I just love when PR has animal motifs. It's always the coolest
That would be awesome. I'd love it if Rangers could do things like that where they combine not just season adjacent teams, but similar teams. Would have been pretty cool if Cam could have swung by a Samurai episode and taught the team from his experience as a Ranger Samurai, among other ideas.
The Disney Brain That's an amazing idea! Maybe have it in the style of "Always a chance" but have it be a major story thread. As I never believed Cam would just leave the Ninja powers drained. Let's say he has the Samurai powers to the point he can morph into the form but its unstable. And visits Shiba house due to the Wind Academy having ancient ties with them, training the Samurai rangers for awhile(maybe even have him be the one who helps them unlock super Samurai) build up a big threat and have him finally morph to save one the Rangers,
I think most of them aren't working on the more recent seasons, unfortunately. Jackie Marchand wrote a ton of amazing episodes, including the utterly perfect "Redemption Day" for Lost Galaxy. And John Tellegen was brought in during Ninja Storm and wrote the really good "Shane's Karma" episode. But both have not penned anything Ranger related since their work on RPM.
The Disney Brain It's too bad that both of them haven't work on Ranger related since RPM. I could of imagine what's the Neo Saban Era be like if those two keep writing in Power Rangers Seasons
One of my favorite parts in this season was how Casey and Jarrod are complete parallels of each other and they basically go through the same development but in opposite.
This has always been my favorite season. When I was younger and Netflix had every season of power rangers it was my favorite. Even after watching The original,Zeo,Dino Thunder, and In Space
i watched Jungle fury on youtube and everything about it is outstanding. i can even hum the theme song! it's that catchy. the story and details go over the edge for me as the best storytelling. my favourite episode is One Master Too Many. the writing for that episode is so complex when i realize what a great mentor and character RJ is.
I really wish that Casey would’ve have gotten a Battlizer they even had the chance, like “here have back the tiger spirit, actually I am gonna die soon so have my white tiger spirit as well” Then during a later episode Casey would had to learn how to control the stronger white tiger spirit resulting in him actualizing his Battlizer as his ultimate form.
Atelier God a battleizer is a form even more powerful than the super forms that only the red ranger gets to use, and that is exactly what the stripe rider is. And besides, it's not like we haven't had any vehicle based battleizers before.
Ghost Rider true there have been vehicle based Battlizer before but this not one of them especially since the wiki doesn’t refer to it as a Battlizer or are you saying that this one bike is on par with a dragon or a legendary sword? Probably not since that bikes been there since really early in the series or are you saying he is the most powerful red ranger of all because he had his strongest form from the beginning probably not but if he had that much power why would he need to get jungle master mode it sounds useless if he already had a Battlizer so no it’s not the same
I agree it would have been cool, but I think it might have conflicted with Casey's character and role in the story. A Battlizer symbolizes that the Ranger who received it has in some way or other reached a "new level" beyond the others on their team, and I feel that would directly conflict with how Casey spends the series trying to reach his full potential, something he only reaches in the series finale. I think the real clincher against it is that he needed to fail his masters trial, something that would seem less plausible if he had already gone through the journey of getting a Battlizer, which generally involves the character learning about and/or accepting some part of their self.
paddy murphy Pretty much summarizes one of the only things that were good about Super Megaforce. That and the returning actors from past seasons of Power Rangers, besides Jason David Frank. But other than that...Super Megaforce was just an example of how not to do an anniversary season in Power Rangers, period. The idea that we get to see a team of Power Rangers morph into past ranger teams that came before them was supposed to be an amazing moment in the history of Power Rangers. But no, thanks to Super Megaforce...I just don't want to see it happen ever again in later seasons because of all the things that season did in the past which made it so much worse in its' execution and just downright direspectful to not just the fans, but to the actors and stunt actors who were those suits.
Neo-Xgray87 yea megaforce and the other anniversary season's are cursed and for what its worth I taught that Orion and roboknight where descent characters
Jungle Furry is a wonderful example of when Power Rangers does well tbh. I remember having doubts when it first aired alongside after with Rpm but both proved to be what Power Rangers can do if the team works together to make a good season.. With OO I feel that it's like Mystic Force hit and miss. Some episodes are really good others are just a miss, I can see the acting not being the best but it's a miss for sure.
I remember when this season was on TV and I always liked it, but in the years following it seemed like there was nothing but horrible opinions on this season. I'm glad it's finally getting respect.

I actually stumbled onto y our page just two days ago and i gotta say this review def made me give jungle fury another chance i'm on episode 8 but i'm enjoying it a little more than i did when i 1st watched it. thanks for the review!
I love the way you jump into these series in a positive light. I wrote off most of the disney era as crud(Barring Dino Thunder, and SPD) thanks to Linkara's History of Power rangers series.
Dude honestly I've come at such a good time for your content, jungle fury was my childhood power rangers and I honestly love it and I've fallen back in love with it again, so I feel that it is very understated
I'm always happy to remind people why they loved our colorful spandex wearing superheroes :) Except RPM because they don't wear spandex and Doc K gets touchy about the topic, lol
Power Rangers Jungle Fury was a perfect season the cast just jelled with each other then the suits are amazing I love the mega zords so much for that season and I love the theme song happy 10th anniversary to Power Rangers Jungle Fury
I think something that helps Jungle fury is the main cast is actually smaller than most. there is 8 regular cast members? And that Counting Rhino guy that shows up pretty late for a ranger. That gives a lot of time to develop things.
I think one of the strengths of this season is the acting with perhaps Jarrod being the biggest example of this. The reason for Jarrod's existence, besides filling in for a Sentai hero, is because the main villain in Gekiranger was a Japanese guy called Long. It isn't a rubber suit (ie The Master) or an elaborate prop (Scorpius), there is a physical person there and emoting. The problem is that physical actors tend to be worse than voice actors in this franchise (Vypra anyone?) If Bede Skinner had been God awful, this would probably be worse than Lightspeed Rescue since at least Vypra was a secondary antagonist but Jarrod is the main villain for most of the season.
I still love Time Force more but you gave new light to Jungle Fury. I wish that the relationships (romantic) were better done but otherwise the rangers were great. You are right that no ranger felt superfluous. There was balance and I like that.
When I jumped back into power rangers after years of not watching it. This is the series that I saw. And it is my favourite overall. I was more mature by this point and I felt that they could do really well with characters. They do falter sometimes with characters but they still have good ones now and again.
It's one of the greatest season, even more if you think that the focus was on actual martial arts. At start I tought it was to be like wild force but resulted on a great season.
People found Overdrive the worst when RPM came out, so it's gotten ingrained as the worst season. Since then we've gotten seasons actively trying to be worse than it.
I think part of the issue is that Overdrive had a lot of potential, and so much of it is wasted…Having one of the worst themes in the series doesn't help, either. Overdrive had plenty of good aspects, but they never get the proper focus and respect that would've helped the series overall.
I would have really liked the idea of their romances starting earlier, for me I really wish we had present day Tommy & Kimberly couples like we used to get, & I've always liked the whole Jarrod and Casey dynamic, especially on Casey's part given your idea of, "People who weren't supposed to be here, making the most of being here", I think, it's been a while since I heard the first time you said that, but you get the point
I was really surprised when I watched Jungle Fury with how excellent it was, mostly because, yeah, I hated Operation Overdrive. I’m glad to see I’m not alone!
I have to agree, when I first came across jungle fury I still had that operation overdrive taste in my mouth that was hard to wash out for the moment. Although given that the characters of jungle fury were well written, its a mystery why this series was hardly on everyones "talk about" list of power rangers shows. Casey was a very inspiring red ranger character especially with the believing in himself arc. Yes that can come off as corny or chessy especially in these days. But that almost reminds me of billy from mmpr he had troubles on believing in himself because he was surrounded with people who were good at defending themselves. But you were able to see him grow throughout the show. Me personally still have trouble believing in myself even at the age I am now. But each of these characters are worth learning from. As of right now Im having the hardest time with being myself because on how Ive been as a friend to people I've cared about for years. Now im just trying to find my hidden ranger if you will and hopefully I'll be able to overcome my own "evil spell" that I have to break.
I recently rewatched Jungle Fury and concluded it was waaaaaaay better than when I was a kid since I understand more about story, narrative and characters. It stood out the most because it had a obvious, recurring theme and more story and drama with and between the villains than any season I can remember. Plus the most stylistic fight choreography ever am I right?!?!
I haven't watched Jungle Fury. Guess I'll check it out now! Watching Power Rangers with my son brought me back into the franchise just as Dino Supercharge was finishing. Since then we've seen most of Dino (Super) Charge, SPD, RPM, and Turbo, of which I'de only seen the latter.
Casey is so underrated as a red ranger and as a character. So is Dai Shi. I love this season so much!! I'm so glad to see others can tell how brilliant it really is. I absolutely love your take on it. The game show is the clip show. I absolutely admit the fear episodes were poorly thought out and I also agree we needed more Dom, especially because Nikolai is such an amazing actor and I feel they wasted him.
I just realized that that Casey's arc in this season honestly would have been perfect for Keith in 2016 voltron. Such wasted potential. If I had to give one major complaint it's the world building. Despite their being an entire academy we never see to many help, dai ahi said he learned enough from Jared destroy humanity but we never learn what that is, the already mentioned lack luster spirt world.
Jungle fury has always been my favorite power rangers szn for literally everything you mentioned, plus I love the fact that they are trained to be able to fight even unmorphed and I’ve always enjoyed that
I agree it took a second watching of Jungle Fury for me to appreciate as much as I did. In fact it is in my own personal top 3 seasons alongside Wild Force and Dino Thunder. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Operation Overdive as I have a soft spot for it personally.
Honestly I liked Casey in this, he is the ultimate sigma. He does not simp, for he understands that the magic tattoo is more important than emotions, and human addiction. This is why he is the leader, RJ is skilled but he's a beta furry, Casey may also be a furry, but unlike RJ he knows what he wants and he will accept no distractions. Be like Casey, reject human connection, pursue your goals.
I grew up with Jungle Fury and RPM, but I can say I always loved this one and only rediscovered the theme again recently. As a hid, I actually had the huge Megazord set, which means the only zords I was missing were the Gorilla, Penguin, Antelope (that's what it is, right?), Claw Cannon, and Rihno zords. I also had a figure of Master Swoop with the armor gimmick. I do want to go rent some episodes or something someday and relive my childhood.
I've never watched jungle fury, but I have to give kudos for making a season that is it's own thing even while having a lot of the i hereby aesthetics from gekiranger... a sentai show I love by the way.
Finally watching it now. From the first episode, I kept saying this is one of the greatest all time seasons! Sure it's got some cheesiness, but it's 400000000000000000000x better than the preceding Operation Overdrive, which I rewatched recently as well. Overdrive wasn't bad, imo, but it wasn't good either. Jungle Fury took that lack of momentum coming in and did things right... for the most part. Still not sure why Flit exists or why they wrote Fran as a ditsy character.
it's also worth noting that jungle fury is one of the seasons that was actually better then it's sentai counterpart. (atleast in my opinion.) that's rare in power rangers. VERY rare.
I never paid attention to the themes and characterization and literary elements and stuff when I first watched power rangers. Heck, that stuff wasn’t even mentioned to me before the school year started! By your explanation, Jungle Fury does seem better than how I originally thought it was (cause the only thing I got out of this stuff was excitement).
As far as operation overdrive is concerned don't say that flourius (spelt wrong probs) was defeated too quickly, while it was short it truly showed the strength of the rangers in comparison to some others.
This season turned out a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I never understood all the hate about the morphers. I always thought the sunglasses were a cool and unique twist. Definitely a lot better than what we've seen in neo saban, with all the large and clunky looking morpher designs.
I liked Dom but it would've been dope if the white Rhino ranger was a yoked black dude. We would've had the first black white ranger and we would've ended racism.
The Casey/Jarrod fight in the lair is one the franchise's best fights.
*the* best, fight me!

I'm always happy to remind people why they loved our colorful spandex wearing superheroes :) Except RPM because they don't wear spandex and Doc K gets touchy about the topic, lol
Jungle Fury is brutally underrated.
Power Rangers Jungle Fury was a perfect season the cast just jelled with each other then the suits are amazing I love the mega zords so much for that season and I love the theme song happy 10th anniversary to Power Rangers Jungle Fury
Casey was my favorite character in this show! This was by far my favorite season, and I was so sad when it finished. But RPM was awesome too.
I think something that helps Jungle fury is the main cast is actually smaller than most. there is 8 regular cast members? And that Counting Rhino guy that shows up pretty late for a ranger. That gives a lot of time to develop things.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE JUNGLE MASTER MODE cause bruhh I love it
Jungle Fury is definitely in my top 5 favorites. Lost Galaxy is my favorite, btw.
Casey is a good character in the same way Luke Skywalker is a good character. Both embody the same themes and struggles in a manner of speaking.
To me this is easily one of the top 5 best written seasons; in terms of personal favourite it's one of my top 2
Such precious characters, all of them ❤️ I love this season so damn much.
Long was one hell of a main antagonist, if you watched Gekiranger you know what I mean. His defeat made a great satisfaction
I went back and watched some of your other videos while waiting for this video. This is my favorite season of PR and I hope you do a SPD review.
one of the best seasons with the catchiest theme song to with it
The spirit rangers were so awesome
Any one else thinks the power protected this season
Hell to the yes!
Wat
Donting24 it a thing zordon said to the rangers and I said this because thought the problem jungle fury was going through it is a great season
Overdrive IS better than we all thought...at least in comparison to the dumpster fire that is the Neo-Saban era :/
@@meko750 worst themes? Let me guess because of the rap element.
To me is more of a wasted potencial
Overdrive is annoying and incoherent, but at least it’s not boring (cough megaforce cough)
The Jungle Fury theme for me stands out as one of the best in Power Rangers
Agreed!
Dadi Shi, go away! They're here to save the day!
I cannot wait until you review RPM
My fav season and with the best theme song, some parts looked like it was movie quality
Daichi's scream always reminded of the the original Super Saiyan Transformation!! 😊❤️
Wonder WhyZ It’s only a matter of time before Dai Shi yells “Kamehameha!”.
The Disney Brain you should do Ninja Storm.
I would have really liked the idea of their romances starting earlier, for me I really wish we had present day Tommy & Kimberly couples like we used to get, & I've always liked the whole Jarrod and Casey dynamic, especially on Casey's part given your idea of, "People who weren't supposed to be here, making the most of being here", I think, it's been a while since I heard the first time you said that, but you get the point
funny enough jungle fury has been my favorite season since it first aired.
I was really surprised when I watched Jungle Fury with how excellent it was, mostly because, yeah, I hated Operation Overdrive. I’m glad to see I’m not alone!
Literally after watching this, I went and bought the dvd. Wow, definately underrated and very solid. JF is now one of my top 5 seasons.
Love ur pr reviews to death
Thank you!! :)
In some ways, it's a bit like the new Star Wars trilogy in that the bad guy is training at the same time as the good guy
That's true! Hella excited for that new movie :)
Jungle fury has always been my favorite power rangers szn for literally everything you mentioned, plus I love the fact that they are trained to be able to fight even unmorphed and I’ve always enjoyed that
Thanks for this video my friend. I'll now begin watching Jungle Fury for the first time right now!!
I love this season so much
I am surprised that Jungle Fury is so underrated because it is one of the only power ranger seasons I have ever watched. Also please do NARUTO!!!!!!
I agree it took a second watching of Jungle Fury for me to appreciate as much as I did. In fact it is in my own personal top 3 seasons alongside Wild Force and Dino Thunder. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Operation Overdive as I have a soft spot for it personally.
i enjoyed over drive as well
Honestly I liked Casey in this, he is the ultimate sigma.
Wow! What a good Video Essay! You earn my subscription!!
Thank you! Glad to have you aboard :)
I was so glad to see this video since jungle fury is my personal favorite season of power rangers
I've never watched jungle fury, but I have to give kudos for making a season that is it's own thing even while having a lot of the i hereby aesthetics from gekiranger... a sentai show I love by the way.
I just recently finished Jungle Fury. You are spot on with your analysis!
Is fair to say that I only watch your Chanel for the Power Rangers content? But by lord is it good content
Haha, perfectly fair! Thanks for the support :)
I guess you can say that RJ was the very first purple ranger
When you said that you imitated the morphing coreography I just thought: "same"
it's also worth noting that jungle fury is one of the seasons that was actually better then it's sentai counterpart. (atleast in my opinion.) that's rare in power rangers. VERY rare.
Hey Disney Brain, love your videos, but in my house jungle fury is one of our fav series!
Thanks for the love! The same can be said of my house, although I'm the only one in it, lol.
Yeah RJ isn't the only purple ranger but he's the only purple ranger in prime dimension
I agree with you about the theme song. It might just be my favorite power rangers theme song.
I loved the jarrod storyline it was great omg because dai shi was getting more powerful but at the same time jarrod was fighting to be a human again
Good season and who can forget the bat ranger and POWER OF THE ELEPHANT 😂😂😂
Jungle Fury and Time Force have things in common
Also I never took message as don't judge people based on those surface traits, but that said surface traits doesn't mean people can't change.
As far as operation overdrive is concerned don't say that flourius (spelt wrong probs) was defeated too quickly, while it was short it truly showed the strength of the rangers in comparison to some others.
I wouldn't say he was defeated too quickly, but I would argue that the weight of the battle felt a bit missing in some respects.
Fair enough but I still liked it, also criticise the unnecessary twist of max being a robot
One of my favorite seasons
I watched it maybe 3 or 4 times now 👌🏿
It was for the Jungle Fury Rangers to have multiple masters.
As a huge fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, more of that please.
And if you’re looking at the next series to tackle, I wouldn’t sneeze at a Ninja Storm Video.
This season turned out a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I never understood all the hate about the morphers. I always thought the sunglasses were a cool and unique twist. Definitely a lot better than what we've seen in neo saban, with all the large and clunky looking morpher designs.
Idk how this show was underrated! This is by far my most favorite PR show!
You should do SPD next
Goku Black aren’t you erased?
Jeffplayz 123 no
He said Overdrive is next, but I'd like for him to go over every series.
I agree that Casey is one of the best Red Rangers out there and deserves to be on any top 10 list.
This was actually the second Power Ranger season I ever saw, and even without the rockin' theme, I loved every moment of learning it
Wildforce also had villians whod jump on grenades for each other.
I liked Dom but it would've been dope if the white Rhino ranger was a yoked black dude. We would've had the first black white ranger and we would've ended racism.
