Dude, seriously. Thank you. You saved my life as well as $650 to buy a whole new unit. So either Jeep got a bad batch of screens or these things have a 5-year lifespan. Either way, all is well now. Thank you for this.

Man what a life saver this video is. I ordered a replacement infotainment component and thought it was plug and play (should've known 140.00 wasn't getting me that) and just received the screen. Off to youtube I went and yours is the only video that was useful

Like everyone else in this comment section, thank you for saving us from an expensive fix. I agree with most that 5 years is it. Mine started acting up right at 5 years. Definitely the hardest part was getting the plastic cover off in the 98 degree car! Everything is working well as of 5 minutes ago! Thanks again!!
Thank you so much! This just happened to my wife’s car and this just saved us from having to go to the dealer. Appreciate the detailed walkthrough! Got everything installed and working great again. Thanks again!

Bro thank you, my sisters 2018 Jeep compass has the same problem and the dealership or any other radio was charging $800. Ordered a screen on amazon and with your video you helped save her $700. I can’t thank you enough for an exceptional video.🤙
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! My friends 2019 compass display is now fixed. I was able to buy the screen with the trim piece attached for $63 on Amazon which made the installation even easier!
Thank you, Thank you 🙏 As a woman, sometime we don’t even know what to do, your video was so easy to understand that I did it myself! FOREVER GRATEFUL 💙
This worked!!!! Hardest part for me was getting the plastic from around the screen to take it out of the car and cutting the glue around the old screen. This video was perfect!! I’m saving this forever and will share with anyone else who has this problem. Got it done in about an hour. 2019 Jeep Compass
I cannot thank this dude enough. Bro, I’ve been waiting for a new radio from dealership (covered by extended warranty but had a 100 deductible. Did this myself, other than having to go to the store and buy silicon but other than that this is great.
$65 and help from your video, my 2019 Compass screen is back up and running. Great tutorial. You did a great job explaining each step by step in detail. I’m proud of myself and feeling accomplished!! Thank you!
Saved so much money after coming here! Thank you! Watching this video made it so easy for me to get this done without having to pay over $500. Ended up only paying $90 on Amazon for the screen. Installed and works perfectly. Thanks dude!
Thank you so much, less than an hour. In the middle of the video, I did have run to the store and buy silicone. Instructions were perfect. Big money saver. @The dealer (back in feb.) said $800+
It took me about 2 days to do this. The glue is what took forever. I almost gave up but pushed through and I’m so glad I didn’t give up. I did it thanks to this video! Thank you! You saved me hundreds of dollars! Got the screen off Amazon for about $74.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought everything you suggested & followed your instructions step by step and it came out perfect for my 2020 Jeep Compass! The dealer wanted to charge me $1,800 (diagnostic test, screen replacement and labor!) you saved me so much money!
Thank you so much for this! Just finished replacing my screen on my 2018 Compass. This saved me $600 since the dealership wanted to replace the entire radio.
Thank you so much for this video! The same issue started around Feb. ‘24. Followed your instructions and replacing the screen was a breeze. Got the screen from Amazon and later decided to get a back up just in case 😂 The plastic bezel is definitely the hardest part to remove but every else was pretty easy. Dealer wanted to charge $1900 to fix despite telling them the audio and computer still works.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have a 2019 Jeep renegade that was having the same issues with the screen. It went out in January of this year. I ordered a new screen less than a week ago and got it installed today. It worked!! My screen is alive again!! 🥳

Worked for 2018 Jeep Renegade too. Just match the screen part number on the back of the screen that is broken before you buy. mine was WXGA0700K00033-V2. Tutorial saved me $1,900 that Jeep Dealership wanted to charge 😳

Hey man, I had to add a comment and just say thank you. You saved me from a huge $$ at the Jeep dealership. Amazing step by step video. Everything worked perfectly. Was able to order a replacement screen on Amazon for $80. Thank you so much for posting your video. How did you figure this out in the first place?!
Youre the best man thanks so much! Super easy to follow. I was able to change the screen in my wife’s car. You saved us $$$ and plus I was able to get a treat from the wifey 😂😂 seriously thank you
Fantastic video. I found that in my 2018 Compass the top 4 screws of the head unit was T9 screws but everything else was T8. Otherwise everything was spot on and replacement was a success!
Thanks for the help! I just replaced mine today. For anyone wondering it took about an hour with 15 minutes. Make sure to have the silicone in hand to save some time
You have no idea how happy I was to come across your video! My screen stopped working 2 years ago and I haven’t had the money to replace the whole unit. The dealership said it would be over a thousand dollars to repair. I found your video and then following your instructions I was able to find the model number for a replacement screen, ordered it off Amazon for $65. Just came across this video….This is a godsend….thanks so much for this video man….I have driving around the last couple months trying to operate the screen as well as I can…… kudos to you for this 👍 👍 👍
I ordered a replacement digitizer from Amazon and was able to replace it fairly easily. Once I completed the installation, the unit basically works fine but the capacitive touch screen does not work at all. I tried to contact the folks at Amazon to determine if I could reach Vorgens (manufacturer) but without success, so I have not choice but to return it and start over. I cannot thank you enough for your very detailed video. I could not have not done it without your step by step assistance. One comment. When you get to the point of removing the old screen from its holder, mine was really very well glued in. With a little help from a hair dryer on hot/high, I was able to soften it enough so that it came out fairly easily, so I would recommend that. If anyone has a thought about the touch screen issue, I would welcome it. Thank you again for the video!
Thanks for the kind words. I would recommend double checking your connection. It's very easy for them not to be seated correctly. The one in the middle should be for the screen while the one closer to the edge should be for the digitizer. Make sure it is fully seated and straight.
@@footbal9584 Thank you very much for the response. I really appreciate it. Can you be a little more specific with regard to which connection you're talking about. My plan was to pull it out and it sent you start over again, but if you have thoughts about something I need to do more specifically, I would really appreciate it. Again, thank you very much.
I just went to my car to start the process over again in hopes of finding a solution, and, fortunately, before removing the unit again, I tested it and it works just the way it is supposed to. All functions are good. Perhaps the capacitive touch needed to energize, or something. There seems to be a bit of a delay in the screen touch process but it's very minor and I can live it with it. So for all those who read my first review, I hope you look over th entire conversation and the unit is now functioning perfectly and I can recommend it without any hesitation.
One more update period I let it set for another hour or so and tested it again and now believe it or not, the delay is gone so the unit is working absolutely perfectly and I couldn't be happier so don't take any points away from the one that I purchased. It just seemed to take a little bit of extra time to completely function. Believe me, I am one happy camper. It`s always a good day when both the surgeon and patient survive.
For anyone wondering if this tutorial is real, it is. I just replaced the screen in my 2018 Jeep renegade. It went out months ago, but I was too stubborn to get it looked at by the dealership. When I called they said there's going to be $200 to even look at my car. I wasn't paying all that. It would have cost at least $600 for them to put it in. It took me 4 hours or so. I made sure I had all the tools, but I needed an adjustable screwdriver to put the T9/T25 bit in. It took me some time to find one. Also, be careful with the caulk. It can get messy, and part of the screen wasn't secure with the caulk. I'd recommend letting it sit in place if you have the time. Otherwise, this is a great tutorial.
to add i went to the dealer and went to audio shops and running me anywhere from $600 to $1000 im like that sounds crazy! everything seems to be working except the screen. i almost paid that too then i said eh i can deal with this as long as i have my bluetooth connect and my ad free music. not until i got a new phone a couple months ago and i have been miserable with just radio lol i couldnt connect to the bluetooth with the new phone! now i have it all back to normal! im so happy!
UPDATE: It works! So, on a hunch I purchased a second replacement screen. Got it in and it fired right up! Turns out the first replacement must've had a bad LCD (but good digitizer). 3 dealerships and they all quoted over $1,000 for replacement of the whole unit.
I was REALLY hoping this would have worked for me. I have a Renegade with the exact same system. About 2 years ago it started doing the lines. It would get better with AC like yours. Looked exactly like yours. About a year after it started it just went black. I was HOPING this would fix it. It did not, unfortunately. The digitizer still works because I can still press and interact, I just can't see what I'm interacting with. Your instructions were great, though. And the process was easy
@@spectacularsgurl2006 it did end up working. I posted another comment updating. The first screen I changed was defective. I bought another one on a hunch and it worked!
@@EsOne4200 perfect! I'll just order two to be on the safe side. Do you mind posting the link in a reply to this comment for the one you purchased? You have the 7 inch screen right?
@@EsOne4200 YES! Jeep quoted me 1700 for the radio (not including installation) because they said the whole thing had to be replaced. Yesterday they referred me to a shop and the guy told me to order a screen and he'd put it in for $500. I came right to "UA-cam University" and saw this video. LOL I'll have my bf put it in as soon as it gets here.
A few months ago I unplugged the first 3 plugs behind the screen to see if that would solve the screen issue. Shortly after putting it back in, the auto start stop service light came on. Had to get aux battery replaced. was that just coincidental timing or was it because the screen was unplugged? can’t say i’ve seen anyone else complain about the light coming on
@@aidan8474 nah I didn't see how those would be related. Our Aux battery went out on our 2018 about a year ago so I think it was probably just time for yours too
@@MrLilmac75 I would definitely recommend it to prevent the screen from rattling around. Any silicone caulk would be the best in my opinion, as it will be easier to remove if you have to do it again. The Loctite clear silicone would be a great option as it comes in a squeezable tube.
Most helpful video! Thank you.. Unfortunately I put the new screen in an it worked for a minute then when I started closing everything up the screen stopped working :( going to return and get a new screen and try again :)
Thank you for the video. Wife has a 2019 compass, I just received the screen from eBay. I have all the pry tools, that’s what worries me is getting the bezel off, but it has to be done, dealer wants to replace the radio also, they quoted me $1300.
@@footbal9584 well I just finished the install on my wife’s compass, the hardest part was getting the vent bezel off, and the old screen was glued in there really good, but I took my time and it’s all back together, works great. Happy wife happy life, something like that. Thank man I really appreciate the time you took to make this video. Saved me over a thousand $$$
Nice vid. Easy install, but I have to add mine had a TON of glue. Used a box cutter to cut through it with a fresh blade. Have one at hand just in case. Very hard to separate because it's like rubber. 👍
I'm not too sure what you are asking here or if Best Buy will do it. You just need to see what part number your screen is and search for that. If your radio is like mine then you should be able to just order one of the part numbers I listed.
@@kristinaaaaa21 I can't speak specifically to the 8.4, but I'm assuming it'll be a similar concept. Nothing wrong with popping off the plastic and seeing what it looks like.
There is a 5, 7, and 8.4 inch screen size available. They are all VERY different so if you Google each one you will be able to tell what you have just by comparing pictures of each one. If it looks like mine, then it's a 7 inch You can also measure corner to opposite corner to determine the size.
Thanks, i have been waiting since June for the dealership to get in a replacement radio (now October) this worked out great screen was only $79.99 in October 2024.
@jwell1554 because no dealer is going to want to dig into something like this, it's easier and more cost effective for them to just replace it. Glad you found this though, hopefully it saves you the money!
Hello, I have replaced the old screen (P/N: WXGA0700K00057-V1) with a new one (P/N: TDO-WXGA0700K00033-V2), but the screen remains black. Any suggestions, please?
Hi, the screen wasn't black for me, it has the white lines and worked sometimes, usually when it was cold. You might be suffering from a different issue. But I'd recommend going back and checking all of your connections thoroughly, it is easy for one to not be plugged in straight.
Great video, I have a jeep compass 2018 4x4 latitude, per vin number mine is the 7 inches screen, how should I search for the correct screen on eBay, thank you
Hey thanks! It should be one of the models I listed in the description and the video. If you are hesitant about ordering before knowing for sure then I think you will have to open it up to get to the sticker on the back of the screen to get your specific model number.
@@footbal9584 Thank you so much, this video was really helpful, it’s been a pain in the ass searching for the correct replacement for 1+ years, since I’m not in the US, I’ll give a try to this solution!
You shouldn't have to do that, no one should. My 2018 jeep renegade has had the same issue for over a year. Its a common problem, mostly with 2018 jeeps. No back up camera could be a safety concern. Chrystler is aware. No recall. WHY??????
Could be, just any silicone sealant would work. If you search for "RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant" you should find a bunch of options at almost any big box store. Like the Permatex stuff for about $6.
That's unfortunate to hear. There are many options on eBay at various price ranges. I would recommend just searching the model number and choosing the one that works best for you.
@@footbal9584 I’ve noticed that the fan was not working prior to unplugging the wires. Do you think it’s a fan issue and not a screen issue? Or does the screen provide power to the fan once connected?

It just seemed to take a little bit of extra time to completely function. Believe me, I am one happy camper. It`s always a good day when both the surgeon and patient survive.
Brother your a life saver thank you for your UA-cam schooling

@@bgtheone2903 thanks for the kind words and sharing your experience! Enjoy your working screen!
Thank you for this video! Saved lots of time and money!
Amazing video. Screen worked perfectly.
to add i went to the dealer and went to audio shops and running me anywhere from $600 to $1000 im like that sounds crazy! everything seems to be working except the screen. i almost paid that too then i said eh i can deal with this as long as i have my bluetooth connect and my ad free music. not until i got a new phone a couple months ago and i have been miserable with just radio lol i couldnt connect to the bluetooth with the new phone! now i have it all back to normal! im so happy!
@@Shase369 you are so very welcome! Thank you for sharing your experience!
UPDATE: It works! So, on a hunch I purchased a second replacement screen. Got it in and it fired right up! Turns out the first replacement must've had a bad LCD (but good digitizer).
3 dealerships and they all quoted over $1,000 for replacement of the whole unit.
GRACIAS Desde PR te lo agradesco estpy contento por que fuiste mi mentor para atreverme a repararlo
Great Job. Step-by-step instructions are perfect.
I have a renegade as well and Im hoping this will work. What did you end up doing since this didn't work for you?
@@spectacularsgurl2006 it did end up working. I posted another comment updating. The first screen I changed was defective. I bought another one on a hunch and it worked!
@@spectacularsgurl2006 I'm glad it worked, too. Dealerships were quoting over $1000 to replace it
@@EsOne4200 perfect!
Our Aux battery went out on our 2018 about a year ago so I think it was probably just time for yours too
Do you have to use the glue? If so what works best.
@@MrLilmac75 I would definitely recommend it to prevent the screen from rattling around. Any silicone caulk would be the best in my opinion, as it will be easier to remove if you have to do it again. The Loctite clear silicone would be a great option as it comes in a squeezable tube.
I did all this and mine still has a black screen. No power at all. Did you have to unhook the battery?
Do you need to disconnect the cars battery to do this?
@@alexarosa3264 I did not, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so.
Most helpful video! Thank you.. Unfortunately I put the new screen in an it worked for a minute then when I started closing everything up the screen stopped working :( going to return and get a new screen and try again :)
Is the silicone absolutely necessary or can i not put it?
@@SuperPatruch I would highly recommend it otherwise the screen will be moving around in the bezel
Thank you for the video. Wife has a 2019 compass, I just received the screen from eBay. I have all the pry tools, that’s what worries me is getting the bezel off, but it has to be done, dealer wants to replace the radio also, they quoted me $1300.
That's insane! Just take your time and it'll all work out. Someone else commented a video of someone removing the bezel, might be worth a quick watch.
@@mikecup212 great to hear! You are very welcome.
Thank you very much for the video, you helped me save a lot of money.
Thank you so much! Do you know about how long this will last?
Since we are replacing the entire screen I would imagine that it should last at least another 5 years but it really should last a lot longer than that
Nice vid. Easy install, but I have to add mine had a TON of glue. Used a box cutter to cut through it with a fresh blade. Have one at hand just in case. Very hard to separate because it's like rubber. 👍
I am taking it to Best Buy to replace the screen but do I need a ADS MRR universal Maestro replacement?
I'm not too sure what you are asking here or if Best Buy will do it. You just need to see what part number your screen is and search for that. If your radio is like mine then you should be able to just order one of the part numbers I listed.
I have a 2017 compass next gen 8.4in screen, will this video work to help replace?
@@kristinaaaaa21 I can't speak specifically to the 8.4, but I'm assuming it'll be a similar concept. Nothing wrong with popping off the plastic and seeing what it looks like.
I have a jeep 2018 compass latitude and I don't know my screen size. Will it work with the same thing you have? Thank you
There is a 5, 7, and 8.4 inch screen size available. They are all VERY different so if you Google each one you will be able to tell what you have just by comparing pictures of each one. If it looks like mine, then it's a 7 inch
You can also measure corner to opposite corner to determine the size.
Thanks, i have been waiting since June for the dealership to get in a replacement radio (now October) this worked out great screen was only $79.99 in October 2024.
You're welcome!
My dealership just quoted me $800 this afternoon. Begs the question if this is fixable then why make consumer pay for a whole unit. $$$$
Good luck!
Does CarPlay is compromised with this change?
Nope no issues whatsoever nothing with the actual head unit is replaced, just the screen.
Super helpful video. 👍🏻
Installed mine. Only part of the left side screen works. The other 3/4 is completely black
I would say you either got a bad screen, or your cable isn't inserted correctly. They are very particular. Good luck!
this really helped change my screen! thank you so much
You're very welcome!
Link for buy pls!
what its the name of the gluey?
I just used silicone caulk. It is strong enough to hold the screen in, but will make it easier to remove it I need to replace it again.
Great video. Thank you for sharing ❤
Anyone have a link?
You shouldn't have to do that, no one should. My 2018 jeep renegade has had the same issue for over a year. Its a common problem, mostly with 2018 jeeps. No back up camera could be a safety concern. Chrystler is aware. No recall. WHY??????
This was a god send
You'rewelcome, I'm glad to hear it helped 😊
@@footbal9584 im stuck on the adhesive part. Something at advance or auto zone?
Could be, just any silicone sealant would work. If you search for "RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant" you should find a bunch of options at almost any big box store. Like the Permatex stuff for about $6.
@footbal9584 yeah I had to rush over to advance for rtv stuff. Dude ive been without a screen for almost a year now

Mine has just started to delaminate .can anyone provide link for the screen 7inch on eBay .thanks in advance .
That's unfortunate to hear. There are many options on eBay at various price ranges. I would recommend just searching the model number and choosing the one that works best for you.
Was the fan working prior to replacing the screen?
Ok mine yes I never had an issue with the fan
@@footbal9584 I’ve noticed that the fan was not working prior to unplugging the wires. Do you think it’s a fan issue and not a screen issue? Or does the screen provide power to the fan once connected?
I would say the screen should not affect the fan at all. It is possible that the fan only comes on when needed to cool the unit
Did all this and my radio didn't come on... really sad about this.. not sure if I bought a bad screen.. but this sucks
