The legendary JOHN CARRADINE as Mr. Gateman… also love the references to” Charles Du Galle Little Orphan Annie & President Lyndon Johnson.. Now that’s CLASSIC TV
But for some reason I never understood, my grandmother, who was in her 80's at the time, was so afraid of Herman Munster she could not even look at him.
That laundry scene will never not make me laugh. I even think of Herman sometimes when I'm doing mine, singing "This is the way we wash our clothes..."
The laundry scene is the most brilliant example of this kind of slapstick comedy since Laurel & Hardy's "It's the doorbell, stupid" from "The Dancing Masters" and the Beatles' bathroom scene in "Help!" Thank you!
I'm going to have to get the Beatles movie 🎥 now for sure. Haven't seen it in years (yeah, I'm old), and I just told my husband that I want to see 👀 that movie again 🎥 . (That and 'A Hard Day's Night' , too).
This is one my favorite shows thank god somebody put it on UA-cam because I can not find this show anywhere so thank you for uploading this show and love John Carradine also.
The whole time Herman is messing up the laundry, turning on the sprinkler system etc getting himself all wet, I couldn’t help but think abt all that make up and costuming Gwynn wore, and didn’t like dealing with, getting wet and soapy and ruined so he’d have to have it redone, and hoping they filmed the sprinkler system scene last of the day so he didn’t have an extra 2 or 3 hours of make up.
As an interesting bit of trivia, even though Mr. Gateman is spoken of often, this is one of only TWO times he actually appears on the show. The other being when he came to the Munster home for dinner and to hear Eddie play his trumpet.
Not trying to be nitpicky, but Herman tossed the iron in the washing machine because it was on fire and needed water to put it out. He might have gotten fired from that job, but he quit before his boss came back from lunch.
John Carradine appeared on an episode of Emergency as a retired seaman who gets his hands glued to a model ship. Still don't know how he was able to phone for help with his hands glued like that.
Bells will be ringing! Also, I love the suds overflowing. There were episodes of Dennis the Menace and the Brady Bunch when that happened. Not to mention the end of the Stones video of Its Only Rock and Roll, when Charlie Watts got buried with suds!
3:50- Mr. Gateman was played by John Carradine (yes, David's father) who had played Moses's brother Aaron in 'The Ten Commandments' (1956) Moses had been played by Charlton Heston and playing Moses's wife called Sephora was Yvonne DeCarlo herself! Yes, I wonder if these two who'd played Biblical brother- and sister-in-law less than ten years earlier may have had their fun catching up and considering the latest turns in their respective careers on 'The Munsters' set?
@@jdewitt77 Herman's boss Mr. Tom Fong needs to buy a new washer as soon as he gets back from Taco Bell where he told Herman he going to get an Enchilada.. (Fillings include meat (e.g. beef, poultry, pork, seafood) or cheese, potatoes, vegetables, beans, tofu, and any combination thereof. Enchiladas are commonly topped or garnished with cheese, sour cream, lettuce, olives, chopped onions, chili peppers, sliced avocado, and salsa, or fresh cilantro.)
Herman didn't put any detergent in the washer. I never knew of any laundromat washer or dryer drum that kept spinning after the buzzer sounded. LOL. Funny ep. I always liked John Carradine. He was cute and was awesome in scary movies.
Hey remind me when me and my six brothers and my dad would sit in front of the TV as a kid and watch this show you'll make me laugh big time today. Y'all be safe
I worked for the phone ☎️ company for 3️⃣0️⃣ years. When I started, it was called Michigan Bell. The name changed several times over the years and now it's AT&T. Hard wire rotary phones, then from rotary to button phones (still hard wired), pagers for the techs, a big deal back then. Designer phoned (still hard wired), from Winnie the Pooh🐻 to Micky Mouse 🐭. Interesting place to work.
Mr.Gateman looks like the stereotypical mortician. I am glad I got to see this show new. It is hilarious, and at that time it was something different. It should have had at least 5 seasons. I thought this show was alot more funny than Adams Family. I was a child then and thought it would be cool to have a dad like Herman...just not look like him! (Smile)
The people who set the timers on the Washing Machine and Dryer are the same people who setup the timers on the conveyer belt where Lucy worked on when she worked on with her best the Ethel!!! Lol!!!!
THe bell, the bell, got to get the clothings out of the washing maching. Take it easy, Herman, it's just the phone. That was comical. I do that too everytime I hear a bell.
I did that to the washer and dryer... I think I busted the dryer (trying to get back to a videogame), and my dad Edward H. Moldthan may have explained what I did to his girlfriend when I was young. Ms Munster reminds me of my friend's mom Amy Shuman.
I feel terrible for Herman because of what he went through in this episode. I understand all of this having driven him insane because so much was going on.
Many years ago I had two jobs that lasted three weeks each and one job that lasted seven days. I had trouble dealing with the supervisors. Then I got a job that lasted 13 years until I retired and then became self-employed which I'm still doing and that I love.
One of my favorites. Herman's reaction to all the bells going off in the laundromat was hilarious.
My little niece loves this and thinks it's funny
Fred did a great job playing Herman. I give him great respect for being a vet. If he was alive, I would thank him

I loooove herman munster🤗😙😚❤
But for some reason I never understood, my grandmother, who was in her 80's at the time, was so afraid of Herman Munster she could not even look at him.
The way he reflexively goes into panic mode when the phone rings 😆
PTSD
My favorite TV show of all time I'm 58
That laundry scene will never not make me laugh. I even think of Herman sometimes when I'm doing mine, singing "This is the way we wash our clothes..."
Even though I liked and really enjoyed watching the Addams Family, The Munsters in my own opinion Ruled and indeed without any doubt were Numero Uno.
The laundry scene is the most brilliant example of this kind of slapstick comedy since Laurel & Hardy's "It's the doorbell, stupid" from "The Dancing Masters" and the Beatles' bathroom scene in "Help!" Thank you!
Also Lucy on the candy line
I'm going to have to get the Beatles movie 🎥 now for sure. Haven't seen it in years (yeah, I'm old), and I just told my husband that I want to see 👀 that movie again 🎥 . (That and 'A Hard Day's Night' , too).
John Carradine, one of the greatest character actors in Hollywood.
Awesome to see John Carradine
❤ herman muster, one of the greatest tv characters ever
Yes he was called The Bard of the Boulevard recited Shakespeare
This is true👍
If I'm correct he was the voice of the great owl from the Secret of Nimh.
This was one of my favorite episodes of the show.Herman's boss owner of the laundry was lol.
Herman knew how to multitask in the laundry room.😂😂😂😂😂😄😄😄😄😅😂😂😂😄😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😄😂😂😂
The best part of the episode was the how to lecture from the laundry owner! Missed that
This is one my favorite shows thank god somebody put it on UA-cam because I can not find this show anywhere so thank you for uploading this show and love John Carradine also.
It's on Cozi TV 📺. But why not buy the series from Amazon❓️. I did. You won't regret it.
Best buy has full seasons on DVD or maybe online, but they're out there. Best buy is where I got mine. Got every episode,
The best part of this laundry scene was the Chinese guy telling him what to do.
You should've included that part.
That was actually non-Chinese character actor Benny Rubin playing Tom Fong.🙂
Notice that the Chinese guy was one of the very few people not scared of Herman?
This is the first time seeing this show! So cool Herman had Nails like Ozzy Osbourne In the early 1960's..AWESOME SHOW😗😗
0
Exactly! And just like the original never truly monstrous Frankenstein's monster.
ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS OF ALL THE TIME...
SO BAD ARE NOT THE COMPLETE EPISODES....
Tom Fong to Herman: "I advertise Boy Wanted. You sure Number One big boy awright!"
Every time I see a John Carradine movie I called him and say "LOOK IT'S DA DA GATEMEN!" This episode start of it all.
1:39 I Love the way Herman slamdunks those wet clothes into the dryer ❗
Yep.....sudzy wet clothes will only take 10 hours to dry
Hermie on the comeback!
As an interesting bit of trivia, even though Mr. Gateman is spoken of often, this is one of only TWO times he actually appears on the show. The other being when he came to the Munster home for dinner and to hear Eddie play his trumpet.
Herman tosses the iron into the dryer. Lol. I'm sure he got fired from that job as well.

😄 (lol) Paraphrasing a line from a ' Flinstones ' episode.... '" Did you ever see so much Baloney being sliced up and tossed around? "
Never saw this episode. Laundry scene made me nervous. Guest star John Carradine great thespian actor.
The Father of David Carradine.
This reminds me of the I love Lucy episode when she worked on the chocolate factory line. Love it🐺🌕🌲♥️♾
John Carradine appeared on an episode of Emergency as a retired seaman who gets his hands glued to a model ship. Still don't know how he was able to phone for help with his hands glued like that.
I use to take clothes and pick them up from a Chinese laundry in the 1970s in New York
One of the funniest moments in the series
Bells will be ringing! Also, I love the suds overflowing. There were episodes of Dennis the Menace and the Brady Bunch when that happened. Not to mention the end of the Stones video of Its Only Rock and Roll, when Charlie Watts got buried with suds!
Love this episode, Bell's ringing he get's all confused😂😂😂😂.... Bring back this show, NOW!!!!!!! We need it more than ever!!!! 🥀🥀🥀🥀.. 2022...
Even Frankenstein was kind back then!
Hilarious, thanks for posting!
Love the telephone, in a casket!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣... 🥀🥀🥀🥀....
I feel bad for Herman as he's sadly singing This is the way we quit the job.
3:50- Mr. Gateman was played by John Carradine (yes, David's father) who had played Moses's brother Aaron in 'The Ten Commandments' (1956) Moses had been played by Charlton Heston and playing Moses's wife called Sephora was Yvonne DeCarlo herself! After the misadventure in the laundromat, Lily would say-"Well Herman, you've goofed it again."
Wish they made more episodes
Lost SIX jobs in FIVE days😂🤣
Found something he’s good at. How many people can do that?
Hey, at least he’s making history; I don’t think anyone had lost THAT many jobs in 5 days!😂
He's putting wet soapy clothes in the dryer!😂😂😂
Well I guess it's because that washer does not rinse the clothes thoroughly. Actually it's quite bad and should be replaced.

Love it love the Munsters
I don’t remember this one seeing reruns in the 70 s this is funny like Herman playing baseball, and golf
Herman didn't put any detergent in the washer. I never knew of any laundromat washer or dryer drum that kept spinning after the buzzer sounded. LOL. Funny ep. I always liked John Carradine. He was cute and was awesome in scary movies.
I noticed all that too. Plus, what kind of laundry is that anyway? When the bell for the washer went off, the clothes were still all full of suds!
I noticed all that, too. Why did both washer and dryer continue spinning after they were opened❓️. One of life's mysteries.
the only person outside of the munster family who thinks they are normal people is mr.gateman
Love you Herman💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Oh man, this one always killed me. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just how does the tumbler of a dryer keep turning with the door open?
It’s set up that way for comedy
Hollywood
Kevin Miller commercial grade
Designed a little bit different back in the day.
It's just a comedy show for goodness sake. Stop taking it so literally DUH🙄
❤ herman muster my hero
Why aren't these the full episodes? I love the Munsters but I wish I could watch/buy the whole episodes here on youtube.
Full episodes aren't allowed due to copyright infringement rules.
Buy the series from Amazon. It wasn't that expensive. You'll love it.
@@jpsned Come on! But partial episodes don't violate any rules? You have to know that does not make even a lick of sense at all.
One of the coolest shows ever 👌🏽
Herman does good work. He is a hard working monster. That's a rare thing in this day and age.
Hey remind me when me and my six brothers and my dad would sit in front of the TV as a kid and watch this show you'll make me laugh big time today. Y'all be safe
Gateman goodbury and graves what a fitting name for a funeral parlour
One of my favorite episodes ❤
I still have one of those wall phones.
So do I. And its hooked up and WORKS! Its the original my parents had installed in 1964.
Yeah my mom had one from the 70s up until the 90s. :)

The great actor John Carradine.
John Carradine also played a Sinister Butler in the Movie-Munsters Go Home.
I prefer The Addams Family
This episode makes me laugh so much tears come out of my eyes.
Never laughed so hard, Brillant physical comedy.
"This is the way we quit the job...so early in the morning..."
Fred Gwynne was such a comedic genius ❤😂
The washer and dryer look like commercial Huebsch units
And Lily to the rescue. She not only got Herman his job back but secured the raise too‼️. It takes a woman 👩.
It would if he hadn't taken her advice and at least asked nicely
@@bezoticallyyours83true, but At least he was willing to listen to her in the end.
The people who set the timers on the Washing Machine and Dryer are the same people who setup the timers on the conveyer belt where Lucy worked on when she worked on with her best the Ethel!!! Lol!!!!
Still cleaning that chocolate out of their clothes!
This is the Lucy scene at the confectioners.
Thanks!💕
In tears laughing at this.... 😆 🤣 😂 and then in fast motion 😆 😂 😆
Never saw this episode.
It may not be running anymore due to the extreme Chinese caricature of Tom Fong.
My 😂 absolute favorite episode
Herman doesn't even know how to wash.
I wish my house were like their's. 👍 I _LOVE_ their telephone.
Herman is so lucky that Lily loves him.
Love this show
I can't stop laughing...
Ha Ha alls well that ends well for the Munster family !
I like the actor in Mr. Gateman. He was the only character on the Munsters not fazed by what the Munsters looked like and never panicked.
Am I the only one that sings 🎶 This is the way we quit the job after we get off work?!! I 😂😂😂😂
No Ozzy has nails like Herman
One of the best scenes from one of the best sitcoms ever made! This show is so superior over The Addams Family!!!
This is almost like Lucy & Ethel at the chocolate factory
Herman, you got some splaining to do.
5:19 what the soap a dee do da?
When Herman gets a big head on top of the big head he already has. 🤣 7:30 ⚰
Mr Gateman was spooky looking!!!@
THe bell, the bell, got to get the clothings out of the washing maching. Take it easy, Herman, it's just the phone. That was comical. I do that too everytime I hear a bell.
herman putting iron in dryer that was funny
The way we quit the job the way we quit the job early in the morning 😐😂
😂😂😂 Herman is the best
How do you mess up laundering clothes so badly? Lolol
How to enjoy this series especially the Brother and that chapter I laughed too much.
We will always scare off the hardest stains just by being our never "monstrous" self. Stay safe everyone!
I did that to the washer and dryer... I think I busted the dryer (trying to get back to a videogame), and my dad Edward H. Moldthan may have explained what I did to his girlfriend when I was young. Ms Munster reminds me of my friend's mom Amy Shuman.
