How to improve clay soil चिकनी मिटटी को कैसे सुधारे

Amongst all the type of soil, clay has smallest sized particles(less than 0.002 mm) thus it has very less soil air due to small intermolecular spaces. Its water absorbing and retaining capacity is very high thus it becomes waterlogged. This makes clay soil least favorite to be used for container gardening. We usually get this type of soil with nursery plants, but if we keep the plant growing in the same soil, it may kill them. We can definitely throw away this soil after repotting plants in well draining soil. But getting rid of this soil, just because its not good enough for gardening is not a sustainable solution. Particularly for urban gardeners, who doesnt get it readily .

Hello just came across your channel now. Your explanation is clear except for the last portion i got a little confused. However my question is how can I understand the difference between the river sand and ocean sand?

Thanks dear pls ask me whatever you didn’t understand. The difference between river sand and ocean sand is pretty easy to understand the sand found near river bank is river sand and likewise. River sand is mostly used for construction we know it as silvery grey sand. Never use ocean sand as it is high in salts that may kill a plant.

I always wonder how the plants at the nurseries grow so well in clay soil - the moment I bring them home the soil becomes a problem 🤣

Yeah the nursery people are pretty experienced in knowing when the plants actually require water (owing to more clay) also bcz of more plants at nursery the temp and humidity is conducive for plant health! The scene is totally different with new gardeners we neither have that experience nor that environment at home! Thai with clay soil, more the care (read watering) for plants faster the plant dies
