Wow thank you sooo much ❤ this is one of the best travel guide videos I have ever seen. Compact, accurate, specific useful detail, and most importantly honest personal opinion 👍👍👍👍 please continue making such videos
Cant believe you went to Ghent and did not take the tine to see the Alterpiece at St Bavos Cathedral. It is a world famous artistic gem with an amazing history.
I did Bruges in November of last year and will go again later this month as well- it’s such a lovely time to visit! Ghent is definitely worth the visit if you’re able to go again :)
We visited Bruges for the first time afew months ago, it's gorgeous. We would love to see the Christmas markets there. Ghent looks beautiful. This place is on our travel list for sure. We've been to Brussels, but didn't enjoy it as much as Bruges. This looked like a great trip. Cheers 🍻
Aw thank you! So sorry normally I would, but I didn’t actually didn’t make a proper map this time. (Like from my video tutorial) This is just showing all the places I favorited while I was on my trip! So the favorites only show up on my phone/account
One advice : avoid taking taxis. They are expensive. If you do have to take one (eg you are carrying a ton of luggage too cumbersome for public transport) official taxis come in all shapes and colours but they always carry a 'T-X" numberplate.
Trust me you only need an hour to see everything worth seeing in Brussels. So on your way to Bruges or somewhere more interesting stop in Brussels, see the Grand Place, and if you must, see the Mannekin Pis, then head out of Brussels. Also it is the only European city where I have had things thrown at me for walking while non-white.
Been living in Belgium for 30+ years and I still manage to find new cool places to visit. Travelled to other places, if I didn't live near Brussels, i might maybe live in Zwitserland, but otherwise, I see no better country to live in.
Great video and so helpful! Do you think 5 nights will be enough for 4 cities? And do I pick one home base and train to everywhere from there? Or do I split accommodation into two cities? Thank you so much for this video!
Thanks so much I’m glad you found it helpful! I definitely think 5 nights is enough for 4 cities. I would split accommodation so you have less travel time of going on trains round trip every single day cuz that makes it more exhausting!
I'd visit Antwerp and Mechelen next time if I were you. In Wallony (south of Belgium) distances between the cities are bigger than in Flanders but there is a lot of nature, wildlife and castles. And beautiful cities too : Namur, Dinant, Huy ...
Hey, we plan to do one day trips to brugge and ghent from Brussels, what time should we reach the 2 places.. we plan to reach by 10;30 and leave by 6… is that right?
10.30 is ok as you avoid rush hour (7-9) but in the evening there is no avoiding possible I guess, rush hour is from about 16h to 19h. On a positive note, it's an occasion to see many natives in their natural habitat.
The “French” part in french fries has nothing to do with the country of origin, but with the way in which the potatoes are cut. The term f rench fries actually comes from the English verb ‘to french’, which means to shred; normally used for the cutting of a piece of meat, removing the meat from the end of the bone. The finer cut of these fries led the Anglo-Saxons to call them “frenched fries.” Over time, the expression shifted and was mistakenly associated with France.
Hello!! It depends what you’re looking for- we wanted Christmas markets so we went in late November & it was magical. But if you prefer warmer weather you might want to go another time. There are pros and cons to each season there, so completely up to you!
Why don't you try french speaking cities next time like Nalur, Dinant and Liège for instance ? You would be amazed too (and I know what I am writing about !)

@@SheRunTheWorld Imho Bruges is boring for youg people and Ghent is overrated and a disaster by car, bus or tram.

I really loved your energy during this video (OK maybe except for the part where you talked about the rain in brussels =D )
Thanks!!

Thanks for watching!
Train station Gent-Dampoort is much closer to the center
Thanks for watching!
I went on a kayaking tour on of the rivers next to Ghent and one of my friends' kayak had a hole in it so they sank 😂
Omg no!😂😂 that’s awful!!
They started with a kayak and ended with a submarine.
Tourists in Flanders should know how to swim , a lot of canals in Flanders .
belgium has three official languages. Dutch is spoken by 60% of the population, French 39%, and German 1%
Oh wow I didn’t know about the German part! Thanks for sharing :)

It’s not Ghent it’s gent
Not true. Ghent is the English spelling, while Gent is the Dutch and German one. Since I speak English, I’ll spell it the English way
