The first year operating my nursery, I was puzzled about why the germination was very low during the rainy season. It was by accident that I discovered why. It's good you have these videos for us s. Thank you
Your videos are so informative and best of all to the point and not overly complicated. Please keep posting! I'm going to try gardening for the first time this year. Thank you!!!!
Discovered your videos tonight and really enjoying them. I'm a complete novice who is keen to start growing seedlings from home. So thank you. I'm learning alot from your videos. Greetings from Durban, South Africa
Namaste Ji, I appreciate all of your videos and am thrilled to keep watching. I’d like to share an experience I had for the benefit of your health and the health of others. I was working with organic compost and got sick with Legionnaires disease. One way to prevent getting this is to wear gloves!!! I always use gloves now and recommend you protect yourself as well! Keep up the spectacular work! Jin de raho
Here where I live in deep in South South Texas its hot and humid...now I know why anything I throw to the ground grows. I'll appreciate more my climate now 😊
Many times when you are young you do not know how to appreciate something and when you are old you value it. In Mexico, in Monterrey, my mother threw the seeds of tomato, melon, watermelon, papaya, in the patio and they grew, they did not need absolutely anything, nothing at all.
Good to water from the bottom an when they break soil have a little air flow. But you got the idea so many growers fail the first couple times counting me an sterilize. sterilize . sterilize. Thanks for the info
Good video, even though, California has advantages and disadvantages. the main advantage is lots of sun and heat. The disadvantage is the lack of water. Somehow you make it work, well done.
I water mine once a day. Mine are sprouted from seed straight in the garden. The soil is a little dense but not too bad. It holds the water well and drains well. But I've only just made my second attemtp at a compost pot. Hopefully this one turns out better than the first one. Need to find some worms though. My yard only has really tiny ones.
Can you make a video on what I need to buy to start my small plantations. For example small or even big equipments, what types of sand/soil and what types of pots. I am really new at this and really want to start planting.
Jag, thank you for this information. I do have a question - do you water seeds after planting and before they germinate? I have them covered in the dome as you mentioned but then the watering part in your video was when the seedlings had popped up - hence the confusion! Thanks again for sharing all your experience ... and your happiness in growing food!
I love using my spinach container. They are so reusable too. Cool about sugar cane. I was watching videos on it earlier this week. I’m intimidated by harvest.
Thanks for the tips! I'm starting to grow some herbs and also saplings from seeds for bonasi and would (hopefully) like to get it right the first time, great to know for a newbie like myself
I've began germinating some fresh seeds (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and watermelon 🍉) on a wet paper towel in a ziplock bag and planned to transplant them in the dirt later when they did germinate-- I was wondering, what you think about this technique, and if you have any suggestions regarding these plants I've started?
Great videos! Glad I found your channel. I’m curious, I grew some ground cherries in a container with a cover. The seeds sprouted and grew quickly. Within less than a hour of removing the cover, the plants all died. What is a good way to transition the plants to avoid this? Thank you.
Hi it also happened to me so if you are using clear plastic bag when the seed start to sprout every day remove the shopper from the plant for 10 min or if you are using clear dome do the same or wait till true leaves come out then remove the clear dome
Yes, lost few pounds and got a tan in the sun as well. Farm work is hard but I love it and enjoy it :) Need to take it easy and eat more, burning more calories. Thanks for caring
Daisy Creek Farms with Jag Singh Haha, such fun! Gardening/farming is such a gratifying experience! Excited to see the bulb show and the fruit trees that you plant!
Ok. First, your video was under 6 minutes. That's a big plus. Some other youtube videos will go on for 14 minutes to cover the same thing you did in 5 + minutes. Also you got right to the point on your key things to focus on. I live in California also and am taking my 2nd attempt to grow a garden (First time rodents and squirrels destroyed everything a few years back). All your tips were practical and attainable. Thanks again!
Hi, i live in a very warm place. i took my seedlings outside to get light bc they became very leggy. however, their leaves were curling bc of the heat. 🙁
Just planted my seeds in an egg carton, lightly covered and watered them. It’s April and very sunny here in GA. Should I leave them outside in the sun or let them sprout in a somewhat lit window seal?
Jag g, can you teach how to grow indian chillies, as we do not get in Nederlands, I would like to grow. Also teach me how to construct economical green house , and maintain temperature(mainly in early spring n fall). As we have short summer. I am new so your guidance will be appreciated.
I live in HOT and dry Southern California and growing celery, lettuce and carrots has been hard. Carrots always get leggy and I fight to try and put more soil on them while they’re planted in a bucket and then also testing out in one of my built raised beds. I would love to try the container for humidity but if I try that, do I keep it in the shade or sun? Also when it grows in it and the lid of course is not as tall as the lettuce 🥬or so would grow, do I open it and leave it?
Hi Jag, you are amazing! Thanks for your wisdom. Question. You recommended using spinach containers as well as empty mushroom containers (in another video) and heating mats. My concern is having leaching from the now heated plastic into my medium/seedlings. Even with food grade recyclable Pete 1 containers, how safe is that? Yes, I am Ms organic psycho! Please advise. Many thanks in advance.
If you are not in a totally dry climate you should avoid top watering very young plants or seeds. Tends to get you more damping off disease. Bottom water only as much as possible, especially tomatoes!
I am currently waiting for some bell pepper seeds to germinate indoors. Once they sprout, can I put them outside right away? I'm in Zone 9, it's around the mid 90s in the daytime usually, and 80s at night. How much sun should they get when they are small without killing them/overheating them?
LED Grow lights do NOT consume a lot of electricity. You could run a light for 8 hours per day and it would only add $1-2 to your monthly bill. The old grow lights were energy wasters.
