First of all I’m still not over the fact that Tyla dropped an album before Normani
😅 and the fact she hasn’t dropped a SINGLE SONG a whole entire month after telling us Dopamine is dropping is ridiculous. Literally went radio silent 🔇. I’m so over her😑 y’all can blame the label all y’all want to but that girl DONT WANT IT & now I don’t want it either !!!
@@LyricVoellenormani said her parents both were diagnosed with cancer back to back and that’s why her music was delayed. It wasn’t her priority while they went through treatment 😢
@@LyricVoelle the previous commenter literally told you why, and you can't accept it. It might not be your priority if it was you parents. Besides Normani just previewed a new song a couple of days ago.
@@LyricVoelleyou really need to calm down. Normani doesn’t owe you personally so stop acting like it. The commenter told you her parents both have cancer and you don’t care at all. So viscous.
@@lillylilly5714😂 I never said that but “ok”
It’s not that all her songs sound the same…it’s just that they’re all part of the same genre. It’s amapiano. As a South African, I’m actually quite disheartened by people viewing it as “boring” because it “all sounds the same”
Many people don't have an acquired ear for music, & don't have taste. don't let it get you. 💚
ur still supposed to be versitile in the same genre
@@starrinight6114this was her introduction, her first debut. Introducing people to the Genre and her sound. Maybe in her future project she will explore not now
@@starrinight6114 Amapiano in general terms, contains a piano sound and melody at the core of its composition. If you were to take out that melody, it wouldn’t be classified as amapiano. It’d simply be classified as South African house music. So what “versatility” might you be hinting at? Genuine question
Most of them are the same key which doesn’t help, but I like her music.
As a Caribbean girl from Central America, I feel like a lot of people won't understand that Caribbean, African, Spanish, other cultures of music have their own flavor which may "sound the same" or "familiar" but surely is not TO US but is to others. I believe we all make our music to stick to our roots and the beat because the beat to our songs is EVERYTHING especially at parties. (I hope this makes sense lmao)
They would never get it. it’s like Regae Genre it doesn’t change the beats will always be there
tbf the people that complain that Tyla's music sounds the same also love trap, drill, and ratchet music so i am really am not worried about them
as a south african, i relate to this. very well said.
Facts
I’m from US and I love her ampiano sound and mixture of R&B and Pop. Her sound is cohesive.
Yall need to learn what is the genre AMAPIANO, and is Tyla's first album
THANK YOU! I swear ppl don't have any cultural competence and aren't trying to learn any
Ok thank you! I have been trying to figure out the genre since the day the album came out. I’m like I know this genre, I’ve heard it, I just don’t know what it’s called! I freaking love it 😍
@@hiddenbeauty12 correct, ppl need to make a research before to do a reacting
We as Americans don’t have research nothing. If she’s tryna break internationally and doesn’t want to deep dive into other genres, then it’s gonna be viewed the way it’s viewed. Nonetheless I like it 😂😂😂 if they think it’s sounds the same, learning about it, ain’t gonna make a difference…
@@jasminvalerie It's so good Amapiano
Hey Zach here’s a little note about the intro:
Intro” (Tyla & Kelvin Momo)
“I wanted to start off my album with something that was truly South African, something that showed people the root of where I started, before ‘Water,’ before all of these mixtures. I secretly recorded a voice note when I was in a session with Kelvin Momo. I loved hearing the people in the session, speaking, hearing the language, the accents. It was so raw and real. Kelvin Momo is my favorite amapiano producer-his music and his sound is my heart.”
Reading this out load could have cleared EVERYTHING!!!!
This album had taken her 3yrs to create. 130 songs squeezed down in to a 15 track album 😳😳😳 Tyla this entire album is beautiful. NO SKIPS FOR ME 💙
None for me too! It’s on repeat 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
“Jump” was definitely a banger. The writing was great. It was confident and Skiibeng added that extra oomph. I also loved that group “Haiybo!” or whatever they said. Jump is undeniably a summer single. They need to capitalize. “No. 1” was also a bop because Tems is a cheat code. “On and On” has that great 90s vibe. “Truth or Dare” was an instant hit to me. “On My Body” was good, too. I tried to like the others.
Hhaybo!!!🇿🇦🇸🇿✊🏾
That part just slaps.

amapiano is not new. americans are just now getting on the wave
@@ivii_designs more than South Africans get it lol
@@taesmani Amapiano is a new genre, it emerged in the early 2010’s. I put new in quotations in my original comment because “new” can be subjective in this case. Also, amapiano a mixture of house music, jazz, and soul with Afro beat, so let’s not try to diss Americans as this genre wouldn’t exist without black Americans.
Hip-hop and R&B listeners be acting like they are experts of Amapiano and Afrobeats. The same happens when Pop listeners tune into R&B and Hip-hop. It’s like saying all whiskey taste the same. Develop a palate please!
Tea.
Why do black people outside of the USA THINK they are doing something different musically. ALL BLACK PEOPLE DO A VERSION OF THE SAME MUSIC. IT just amazes me how black people think they are different or better than each other. Colonized in Africa and enslaved in the America's both victims of white Supremacy. Black American's created rock, rb,jazz, soul and country. Blacks in the Caribbean and South America created the music of the Caribbean and South America, all based on our African roots. Stop the separation,we are one people
Facts! RnB is my favorite genre but I also love Carribbean music as its my cultural music & recently getting into Afrobeats & now that Amapiaono is becoming more popular I'll be getting into it more.
Yesss “Develop a pallet” lol
nah u ate them up wit develop a palette, i’m stealing that thanks 😂
7.3 million album streams on Spotify in the first 24 hours for a new unknown, non-American artist is a great achievement and I know Tyla will keep leaving a trail of hater tears behind her.
She’s not unknown though? She’s been massive in America for awhile with water being a major hit and winning a Grammy etc. it’s not really a surprise as she has become highly popular.

The people who are gonna have the critique in the title, are the type to listen to a reggaeton album and complain that there was “too much Spanish” and the beats “sounded too similar”. .
I think its unfair sometimes because if you go deep enough into the video he explains that, the sound is a genre, it's the culture, it's just the way it is an it works for her. All words He has said in this video trying to give credit where its due

Say it louder for the ppl in the back!!!
This is a solid album! I heard she recorded 130 tracks for it, I guess after the release of Water they decided to go with a sound that will resonate with that audience (Tyla's music before Water touched a lot of different bases).
I think it's kinda wild people want her to have several different genres on her debut, normally debut albums stick to a particular sound and then the artist branches out and experiments later on. I love Aaliyah's debut but the songs on Age Ain't Nothing But A Number sound very alike because they were all produced by the man who shall not be named. But then she dropped One In A Million and it was a completely different sound, it actually made more of an impact that way.
I've been studying Tyla this era through her music videos, performances and music, I can tell she's being managed in a classic way and I'm excited about that.
She's already got a signature look for this debut, she's not dancing much this era and I LOVE that because yet again it reminds me of Aaliyah, one of the reasons all of Aaliyah's albums are classics is because they presented something NEW and added to Aaliyah's persona with each era.
I hope Tyla doesn't bust out the full choreo until either her next album or third just so its another thing that shocks us. Her music videos are also very simple but beautifully shot in such a way that focuses more on her allure than anything else. I think as her career grows her videos will become action packed.
Her management is thinking ahead and I'm excited to see what they have up their sleeves.
Idk girlie Tyla is known for dancing…. She’s that girl performance wise!
Tyla has said that she considers herself a amapiano artist, she even said “Pop-piano”. Amapiano is a South African that’s only been around for a couple years now. Amapiano has a signature sound/instrumental and format. Nobody complains when lil baby has the same music back to back. I like the fact she’s introducing the world to amapiano even more now, she has a formula that works for her. It’s her sound. She also has Butterflies which sounds different.
Also the intro; she explained that she wanted it be raw, she secretly recorded a audio of her in the studio with Kelvin Momo (a South African amapiano producer) she wanted to show something raw, authentic, hear the languages of South Africa and our South African sound, with her favourite producer.
zach, the intro song is actually a voice note that tyla recorded in the studio with the producers speaking in the background. she meant this to draw attention to the different accents & languages of the people she's around on the daily. just your average day in a south african studio type of thing. hope this helps.
Tyla made a solid album, her voice shines all throughout it for sure.
y’all gone act like he didn’t say “that’s the sound she’s going for, that’s her genre”
Same thing I said bc damn lol 🫠
It’s comical how people don’t say anything about Ed Sheeran, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, etc. having the same music. But expect Tyla, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, etc. to be innovative and fresh everytime :/
im saying! the amount of times I've heard a weeknd song and started singing some' from a different album is crazy
Not to be that person, but Chris has an entire discography dating back the last 10 years, and each album and era has a different sound. I'm not a fan, but it's true. This is Tyla's first album, and who knows what her next eras will sound like
Nahhh, we not gone do that. People on Twitter say CB make the same songs every time he open his mouth. The issue is, people don't listen to artists albums, all they hear are the singles. Which is fine but they can stay over there with all that because nobody has given me a list yet of those songs.
Girl did you steal this from twitter? lol
That’s legit all people say about those men😂.

1. Lets continue to stream Tyla's album she did a great job !❤🎉
2. She really gave a great album rollout since last year, realising merch, different singles to keep everyone interested in until the album drops. She gave good old PR tours, performances and audience interaction. Love to see it❤
3. It's clear that we going to have to keep educating people about amapiano.I can see afrobeats has atleast made some headway which is good. The same enthusiasm that was shown to K-pop and wanting to know more about it could have done in this video as well and that would have explained why the songs may sound the same.
4. You are right,Tyla really is here to stay and she's been proving it for a minute excited to see what our South African girl comes with next.🎉 Mzansi to the world🇿🇦

PERIOD DOT!

I don't know how they didn't release Jump as a single...It's so fire!
I think Olivia used to get similar "all the songs sound the same/same subject matter, etc" criticism too but it's so hard as a new artist to have their own signature sound, let alone master it the way those two have so early on. It's never a bad thing to know what you're good at, polish and perfect it IMO. So many artists have the talent and potential but are lost in the sauce in terms of finding their own distinct sound so Tyla is already a leg up there. Also, it's her debut. I can understand if we're still having this convo 2-3 albums in but even so off the top of my head: Jump, Breathe Me, To Last, Art and Priorities all give me different enough vibes from each other and from Water so I don't even agree that all the songs sound the same.

@@user-lg7ev9lm8bumm she had def made Caribbean sound music throughout her career. Wth 🤦🏽♀️🤣
