Eternal sunshine (the movie) is about a girl who wants to forget her ex, so she goes to have this procedure to remove all her memories of him. Ariana is calling Dalton her eternal sunshine-she wants her memories wiped of him. And her new boo is the good boy she’s referring to.
So Ethan and Ariana are each others rebounds lol. Won’t last. 😂

also, to note re: Zach's comments in the video, the We Can't Be Friends video is basically a music video version of the movie and her naming herself Peaches is likely to parallel the main characters name, which was Clementine (also a fruit, and in the same color family, also why she had the orange-ish streaks and blue streaks in her hair for the promo of this video, as a nod to the hair colors the main character had in the movie)
and she is a huuuge Jim Carey fan
But in the movie, even when they wipe their memories, they end up finding each other again but the moral is that the good and bad in a relationship is what shapes us in our lives, so wiping memories of someone isn’t always the solution
Ariana kinda takes that into her album, that she doesn’t want to wipe the memories of her ex, but rather have it be a part of her life, hence her “eternal sunshine”

Eternal Sunshine is album of the year I said it I love how she's talks about the story of her vulnerability with relationships and also the struggles she has been through in her life. But every song in this album is so good there's so many different vibes in it plus Ariana's vocals, backing vocals, harmonies, it's all about versatility and I love it.
