Love your new intro song! In my Village of Buttonwood, practically every house on one of our streets has an American flag flying on a tall flagpole and it's a beautiful sight!
Very nice job as usual. Thanks for being so honest and candid about your considerations in moving away from your farm house. The downsizing you did will prove to be a real service to your boys in sparing them the burden of sorting through a lot of stuff.
Gizmo is soooo cute!!! I’m only 50 years old and not sure why I subscribed because I’m 15 years from retirement (ha ha) but you two are just so fun to watch! Love your videos! You two are so delightful and entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Same-ish! I’m close to retirement age, but have absolutely no desire to move down to Florida to the Villages. LOL! You’re channel popped up on my feed one day and I got hooked! 🪝 Guess I just find it interesting to see what goes on in a retirement village type environment. You two are a super cute couple AND Gizmo is the star of the show! ❤️🐶 Best of luck to you both in your retirement!🎉
We decided we were going to move here when we were 45. We didn't actually move till we were 58, because that's how long it took to get the kids out and on their way after reaching 55. We each have several more years to work, so we often have to explain to locals that we still work so they realize we can't just go do things during working hours. But we like it here a lot, it's a great community even if you're still working. We spend 13 years getting ready to come here, paring away at our stuff, letting the kids know we weren't just going to store their excess stuff forever, and in the final few years before the move doing a whole bunch of work on our house preparing it for sale because every dollar there would be that much more toward a new house here!
One of the highlights of my Monday.... a great Mailbag!! 💌📫 All 3 of my sons are competitive runners 🏃🏻♀️ and through the years I’ve always said “No need to look behind you during the race, the finish line is in front of you! Keeping looking forward! ❤️ Applies to SO many situations in our lives. Love to see proud Americans flying the beautiful Stars and Stripes! 🇺🇸 Have a fantastic week. Best! ☀️
Hi Guys...another great video! As we watched this one, we are in the midst of a 2+ foot snow fall here in the "great" Commonwealth of PA. We started listening to the Villages radio station...good music and we like the weather forcasts better (cold front coming in, highs only in the 60's)! Stay warm!
Hi, I’m with you this morning, and I’m awake lol. Those putters were a nice gift. I miss golfing, My grandson and I was on the course every day when he was growing up.He is about to graduate from college in May. He plays for the school. Golfing is all he knows. God bless
Gizmo is so patient. My brother-in-law & sister-in-law lived in the villages the last 12 years. They had 3 different new homes, ended up near Fenney. Sadly, my brother-in-law in law (husband’s brother), 79 years young, passed in March, 2020 of heart disease. We visited every winter & loved our visits, he was in the Villages Rehab & hospice & treated well! My sister-in-law, also, 79, stayed till November, 2020 & has moved back to a senior apartment in NJ near her daughter & grandchildren (they wanted her to do so.) She sold her house to the 2nd buyer with everything in it, lucky folks. Miss this winter’s trip, but Covid would have prevented it. Sadly, my husband’s other brother, 77, died in November in Okeechobee, Fl of Covid. My other sister-in-law has chosen to stay in her over 55 community there as she has relatives and friends. We loved both Brothers & sister-in-laws and loved our trips to see them. The Villages is a real nice place, enjoy it while you are well!
Fun to watch and informative as always. Gizmo is so adorable: "Dog groomers. I need a treat!" Also, we love your answer about letting go and moving to The Villages. Exactly our answer would be. Thank you for posting.
Linda and Jerry...you both are wonderfully positive, upbeat and the happiest people we have seen in a long time. Your videos are the best ....honest, informative, and funny !...As a retired shop teacher myself, I can only imagine how well you inspired so many young minds...we would consider it a privilege to someday meet you !...the world would be a better place with friends and neighbors like yourselves in any village. Bless you both !
Love the videos. My husband and I live in Inverness. We researched several areas before we retired here before we retired here in 2016. While we felt The Villages wasn't for us, I am happy to see all fellow retirees finding there niche. Love the video. Keep up the good work.
I bought a house that already had a flagpole here inn The Villages, so that I wouldn't have to put one up myself. I love seeing Old Glory every time I pull onto my street. I put up a fresh new one every year so the colors stay bright and cheerful.
I love your answer about "letting go". That is something I have been feeling too. We are still a few years away but I already think about it. I love The Villages though!!!
My husband and I are a 29 year military family one more year to go ! We have raised 3 sons and all 3 are in the military one Army and 2 Air Force . I do enjoy watching your show and we’re not even close to retirement years . You guys are doing a wonderful job doing this channel . I look forward to keep following you both . We’re in Indiana on a 20 acre farm we just had 6 inches of snow so seeing the palm trees brings a smile to our faces .
I have friends in The Villages and have rented a house, spent a month down there three different times and I never got used to the taste of the water. If I end up moving there, I will have a filter.
I am pretty sure that someone at the Lofts told us that you have to sign a 1 year lease. My husband confirmed that is what the lady told us when we checked it out in person.
This is for Harley. Instead of trailering your bike, look into the Auto Train. If you are within a few hour drive (3-5hrs) from Lorton Va, the auto train drives straight through to Sanford FL, which is less than an hour from The Villages. You can load up your car with stuff, and trailer your bike onto the train. Then you kick back and enjoy the ride. Enjoy a nice dinner and go to sleep. You wake up at 8am in sunny Florida.
I love the AutoTrain. But the last time I took it they told me that was the last day they would be serving meals on the train. It’s too bad. The food was pretty good, it was easy to get to the dining car, I always traveled solo, so I was playing aced with others who had an open seat. I’m not sure how dining service is now. I’d take the AutoTrain again.
Yes, we've done the auto train before. Rode the MC to Sanford, then the train to Lorton to attend Rolling Thunder. Love the train. Rocks me right to sleep! 💤
@10:35 I wish my in-laws had been that considerate. I offered to help to at least organize their accumulated stuff many times, but nooooooo. What a nightmare we had to shovel through when they had to move to a nursing home! Your kids should thank you.
Four months ago my Dad moved from the home he and my mom built in 1964. My sisters did yeoman's work cleaning out 55 years worth of stuff. They rented a dumpster for 2 weeks. My Dad is now in a nice 1 bedroom apartment in a senior citizens apartment building. If/when I move to The Villages in a few years I will be traveling light. My furniture is not worth moving 1,200 miles.
I've seen people write that it's bots; not sure how that works. Or, it could also just be GOP* (Grumpy Old People)!! *That is NOT a political statement, just coincidence!
Really enjoyed this one, I also have a large home with a detached garage, married 26 years, lots of stuff. We have been downsizing getting ready for when we make the move. Unbelievable the stuff you accumulate.
I had two garages,, one an RV garage with a loft, on acreage. I spent 4 years seriously getting rid of stuff before our move. I still ended up filling three 20-yard dumpsters when we packed up to leave. It's crazy!
Linda you always have such a beautiful smile and your hair looks extra nice today👌. Jerry you are great with all the information you provide. Thank you
Linda & Jerry, you guys are outstanding! These are really cool sessions! My wife (Linda) and I (Adam) are headed down to the villages for our life style visit week of 15 March. Looking forward to getting warm. We went last year when covid started, and it was shutting down. So sounds like things are open and looking forward for a better experience, we are staying over in Brownwood again. Appreciate your you tube channel, looks of good stuff, keep it coming! Give Gizmo some more of that burger! Take care.
We are subscribed and tune in for every episode even though we have no desire to retire to Florida, you are just fun to watch and so positive and interesting. Gizmo looked like he was waiting for a treat. God Bless you both!
Greetings from snowy, windy, cold NJ. Your farm sounds ideal. We only have two acres and a small raised ranch. But do to back issues I would like to move to an over 55 community to eliminate the outside work. Unfortunately being on a fixed income there aren’t a lot of choices. It seems even Florida can be pricey. We enjoy your channel. Thanks for the information. 👍
My mortgage and the cost of gardeners and landscapers here in The Villages is less than the rent on those apartments! They had better be really nice apartments! Seriously, though, they are just a short stroll away from the Town Square of Brownwood, and you know what they say about location. Prices are higher closer to the squares. We're 10 minutes by golf cart from Lake Sumter Landing, 20 minutes from Brownwood, and just a little further from Spanish Springs. Our complete cost of living in a house here is less than just the rent for in The Lofts, never mind the extra fees and bills on top of that.
My mom when we went on vacation as kids would always notice the quality of the water. I never developed her ability to taste the difference in the local water, so I have no memories of water being good or bad in this or that town or city.
I love this ❤️ opening jingle I understand about the land and property my brother runs it now but I will be glad when I can sell one-day and move,I like there are singles there I'm only 55 but I have health issues and the warmth of Florida and no snow is appealing and not much cold weather I hate to drive to work in this snow mess.keep video's coming see you next Monday putters were a nice gift
I'm not that much younger than you two. It was tough to watch the 9:00 minute mark and have you discuss how much you loved your home & possessions. Man shed, three car garage, amazing property, everything I have today and love. I have the storage units with the GI Joes, models, baseball cards, old photos, etc. I have kept everything from my childhood and beyond. How in the world did you muster the courage to pick up the GI Joe you spent your childhood playing with and tossing it in the garbage? Was there a limit to what you could part with and not breakdown and cry?
Hi. I check several times every day to see if you have a new video. Linda, I scrapbook too and we love to play Mexican Train. We bought a house almost 2 years ago and love living in Fl. I've been watching a lot of your video and you mentioned you scrapbook too .
We used to live on a well back in the real world, so when we got down here, the Villages water tasted of chlorine. [Kinda Ironic, since the pools use a non-chlorine salt water sanitizing system] We sprung for a Pelican water system and now the H2O tastes wonderful
Jerry and Linda, I’m wondering what your kids think of your UA-cam fame. Is this something new for you both or have you done this kind of presentation before? You’re both so much fun and I ❤️❤️❤️ your informative videos!
We use to call Motorcyclist organ donors. Nice questions & answers. The whole house water filter system is interesting. I’m surprised that you don’t have a water softener? Jeanne(retired RN)
Love your videos-my husband and I just recently became empty nesters this past summer and we moved to the beach (in Ga)-I work from home and he is an RN-curious if yall were already retired when you moved to the villages and what did the two of yall do for your career if you don't mind sharing-I am a teacher. Thanks and keep up the great work!! ~Tori
I rent a house in the village of Desoto for $1550 a month long term. Everything is included except for gas, electric. phone , cable and internet. The $164 amenities fess is included along with lawn service and other stuff. Far cheaper than the Lofts.
Great Mail Bag Monday with great questions and answers...well done Linda & Jerry (loved the little dance) lol... Come on up to New England we are expected to get 14 or more inches of snow...what fun!
We have a neighbor where they have to park in the driveway because the garage is full of other motor vehicles, including motorcycles. I think they've got something for every environment in there, packed chock-a-block full, haha. They may not be in their 20s any more, but you can't tell it from their garage.
The Harley question was from me(Dale from WV) apparently I didn’t put my name on it🙄. We love to ride which is the biggest reason for a winter home. We also respect the noise issue and don’t abuse it. So we’ll weigh our options on a home when we decide to go back.
There are plenty who ride here, and several clubs. I can't think of a better place to live for year-round riding other than maybe Southern California, if you can stand living in California these days.
I’ve been sad to leave every place I’ve lived for about 15 minutes. Will I be sad to leave my current home which I’ve never liked (the neighborhood not the house)? Sure. Honestly, I was very sad when I left my first house on Lake Superior and my second house when I moved to Detroit. That move I was sick to my stomach. You adjust. I was very happy to leave one apartment I lived in for about 7 months. I hated every second there. If I moved to The Villages, I’d be anxious, but so very excited. I just learned there’s a Mayo Clinic in Florida. My doctors are at a Mayo satellite and it’s very hard to have to move away from that kind of medical care. Now I wouldn’t have to. I just haven’t researched the location.
Breakfast with Jerry and Linda, awesome. Over the years I spent way to much money on Putters thinking it would help my game, no such luck. What a nice gift, have a great day guys.
Another interesting video. Love how you both try to help newbies and wanna bees with ho eat info to questions on TV. Regarding the question of whether the Developer turns ownership of the neighborhoods, Rec centers etc over to the homeowners once built out. My understanding is that in part the answer is yes. That is where the CDD’s come in. The districtgov.org website has a lot of information on the various management departments of TV and Gold wing-nut has a series of excellent UA-cam videos on this topic. It seems there is a lot of confusion about this so to anyone interested - check out those sources.
Yup, we have the district government and the Amenities Committees. The Developer turns it over to them once it's built out, and funding comes through the Amenities fee, and is shared between districts to cover special situations through the Project Wide Fund for most of The Villages. It's a little different for the older districts (Districts 1, 2, and 3), but similar.
I love motorcycles and from the Harley-Davidson factory they really are not that loud. Owners have "straight pipes" installed as options which give the motorcycle that thunderous sound. Music to some, horror to others.
Watched some kind of heaven yesterday, and I'm not sure what to think....it seems to me they definitely were looking for "the right" characters to convey their message...but I'm not sure what their message was. For the most part I would say it was focusing on the negativity and I didn't think that was the right thing to do....sure, there are all kinds of people in the villages, but why did they choose these people? Oh well, at least you got the bargain of renting the film for 3.99...I paid 6.99! As always....thanks for sharing and God bless.
The wanted to make a hit piece, it's that simple. "Documentaries" aren't about investigation and showing both sides any more, it's just propaganda now. Too bad, I used to be a documentary junkie. The Villages isn't Solla Sollew, but it's a great place to live even if you have problems in your life. There are lots of caring people, it's easy to connect with people and be part of a community here, it's beautiful and as safe as can be with anywhere that still has people in it. Pay no attention to the hit pieces people are producing about The Villages, or negativity. There are people who can ruin a sunny day out there, haha.

Good news! I hope you find a place as much as we love ours!
Gizmo is trying so hard not to be bored! Love your videos, thank you for all the thoughtful information you provide.
Love you guys! I am planning retirement in 2 years - you are both giving me lots of great advice! Thanks - Love Gizmo too!

We started listening to the Villages radio station...good music and we like the weather forcasts better (cold front coming in, highs only in the 60's)! Stay warm!
You guys are so cute. I could watch you both just sit and yawn. Very helpful and full of fun and laughter. Thoroughly enjoy every segment. ♥️
Haha, Patsy. Now there is an idea for a show! Thank you for your kind words.
I love the new jingle. Y’all make me smile.

Great video that I viewed on Skip's site. Jerry and Linda ROCKED that test!
I have friends in The Villages and have rented a house, spent a month down there three different times and I never got used to the taste of the water. If I end up moving there, I will have a filter.

I don't think flying the American flag should be considered a political statement. It is a "proud to be an American" statement. From Pinellas County
Amen!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
As with all questionable questions like this flag subject one, I’m sure there’s more to this story than meets the eye. LOL!🇺🇸
Loving the new opening jingle!!

I live in a 55 + community in Lakewood NJ that is affordable. Under normal circumstances, the clubhouse offers a lot of clubs and activities.

They are fine with it, April. The boys are actually very helpful and supportive. I know we embarrass them sometimes… but it's all in good fun.
We use to call Motorcyclist organ donors. Nice questions & answers. The whole house water filter system is interesting. I’m surprised that you don’t have a water softener? Jeanne(retired RN)
Fun = viewing the Villages Newcomers. Thank you guys for sharing the information and your positivity. Give sweet Gizmo a 💋from me.
Love your Hoosier humor 😜
Love your videos-my husband and I just recently became empty nesters this past summer and we moved to the beach (in Ga)-I work from home and he is an RN-curious if yall were already retired when you moved to the villages and what did the two of yall do for your career if you don't mind sharing-I am a teacher. Thanks and keep up the great work!! ~Tori
Couldn’t agree more Jerry 🇺🇸! And you go, Gizmo, get your
treat! Patience is for cats, not dogs. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You both look great, (Gizmo too!). I live in Southwest Florida but I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
I rent a house in the village of Desoto for $1550 a month long term. Everything is included except for gas, electric. phone , cable and internet. The $164 amenities fess is included along with lawn service and other stuff. Far cheaper than the Lofts.
Gizmo was so interactive with this video.
my friend lives in a mobile home near a highway and the trucks and motorcycles go down the road that make noise its somethimg to consider.
Great video guys .. Thanks
Hello there. I was scrolling through Facebook and saw some familiar faces. Hello from Floyds Knobs!
Hello, Steve!
👍🏼Thanks for sharing 🌴🌴 pats and hugs to Gizmo
Your videos make me happy 😁
Great Mail Bag Monday with great questions and answers...well done Linda & Jerry (loved the little dance) lol...
Come on up to New England we are expected to get 14 or more inches of snow...what fun!
Look up dorky in the dictionary... that's us! 😛😜
@@JERRYANDLINDA LOL
Good info as always. Our dog Shadow watched with me for a few seconds. He says "hi" to Gizmo! LOL
Hi Shadow! 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
Nice putters!
Those putters are a lot more practical than apples from your students! Remember the good old days when we had sound ordinances that were enforced!
You two are so cute. Watching from NC
As far as motorcycles go, YES they are allowed. As a matter of fact, there are several motorcycle clubs in the Villages.
We have a neighbor where they have to park in the driveway because the garage is full of other motor vehicles, including motorcycles. I think they've got something for every environment in there, packed chock-a-block full, haha. They may not be in their 20s any more, but you can't tell it from their garage.
God Bless um
The Harley question was from me(Dale from WV) apparently I didn’t put my name on it🙄. We love to ride which is the biggest reason for a winter home. We also respect the noise issue and don’t abuse it. So we’ll weigh our options on a home when we decide to go back.
There are plenty who ride here, and several clubs. I can't think of a better place to live for year-round riding other than maybe Southern California, if you can stand living in California these days.
Absolutely NO California for us, we’ll stay on the east coast! Nice to know there are others with motorcycles, thanks for the tip.
Thanks for sharing 🤩😎😘. Adore 🥰 Gizmo!
Enjoy your time in Florida. I would consider it if I could talk my wife into it but she doesn't
much like Florida.
Skips wife Sue and her friend did a tour of the apartments. They said it’s twelve month leasing. The video is on Skips channel.
I just love looking at Gizmo in the background, so cute ! Did you get him when you moved to Florida?
We have had him for 12 years! Or should we say, he has had us?
Awwwwwwwww, 12 yrs! So adorable! What a "Cutie" !
Just love watching you two. Oops! You three!
Gizmo must be looking for a mate as he peeked up when you were discussing singles... LOL
Do those 2 bedroom apartments have 2 bathrooms?
Breakfast with Jerry and Linda, awesome. Over the years I spent way to much money on Putters thinking it would help my game, no such luck. What a nice gift, have a great day guys.
We were thrilled. Such thoughtful viewers we have!
Thanks for taking the time to explain that, dorebea. We really appreciate it.
Do you have any pictures of your old home? Maybe if you go back you can share with us.
I love motorcycles and from the Harley-Davidson factory they really are not that loud. Owners have "straight pipes" installed as options which give the motorcycle that thunderous sound. Music to some, horror to others.
Jerry, Was it hard to give up your woodworking shop?
Yes and no. There is always something new to learn and do.
Why are there no sidewalks in the residential areas?
Gizmo is the star of this one.
OK, OK, we get the point about the motorcycle noise -- gees!! :-)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
