_"Unfortunately, it looks like this will be the last video I'll ever make"_
Me: *NOOOOOOOO, IT CAN'T BEEEEE*
_"That regards this Sousaphone, atleast..."_
Me: Thank god!
I thought the same thing XD
JoJoTheMoBro WithAfro Me too.
he would be the best troll
Same bro
he just did :(
"It's already really uncomfortable" - every freshman tuba player at band camp
I'm an 8th grader who marches sousaphone
Jelley Peanuts ayyyy same here
Perry Turner meh Contra isn't that bad
That's what's going on here! It's not that it's a crap tenor horn, it's a new-horn player simulator working perfectly! That's why Trent sounds like garbage and is really uncomfortable! We've solved it!
Jelley Peanuts Y’all march in 8th grade? We don’t start till high school where I am
It sounds like it has a really bad air leak but it also sounds like it has a rag stuffed into it.
true
i had that happen with a school tuba, found will cleaning it before the start of the next school year of playing it.
When I was in high school, we were nearing the end of marching band season, and we were waiting in line for our turn to march in a parade. For whatever reason, I turned my sousaphone upside down, and out of the bell came a roll of marching charts from a few seasons prior. Funny enough, I never noticed a problem with the sound of it.
That instrument had been serviced in between that season and them falling out of it. Methinks someone didn't deserve a paycheck.
drzoidberg71 Sounds like quite the story xD
One time while polishing our sousaphones we found a beanie stuffed WAY down in the body.
As a euph player ... The opening of carnival of Venice sounded so flat I first thought it was minor for a split second
Hey could you make a video of you running over this thing with a cement mixer?
yessss XD
why a cement mixer, how about a steamroller
Rant Gant. Lol
Sounds like the first time I ever tried to play the trombone 😅
The octave part made me laugh my ass off
Me too xD
I cackled!!
me tree!
*Warning to all French Horn players that can't take a joke*
Still more in tune than a French Horn...
Kie2Gaming lol
Kie2Gaming French Horns are always in tune. Its the entire band/orchestra who are wrong.
Hoppip no, French horns are usually out of tune. You’re thinking of oboes that are always in tune.
*all french horn players
What do you call a pissed off double French horn player?
Triggered
Funny enough I’m a horn player and I never play super out of tune my problem is the stupidly close intervals between notes
Playing the two notes together was brilliant. Thank you very much!
Sounds like the valves are leaking air
Sadly more in tune than many poor 6th grade oboe players no offense I understand your pain..
RedFox Cat true
Bro in my 6th grade begging band class there were 2 oboes which one made it to the 4th level of band in just the second year of middle school and the other in the 3rd level of band. French horns though....
Play the Universal Studios theme and sync it up with the original. Just like when people do it with recorders! Trust me it'll be hilarious!
I would, but I might get in copyright trouble :(
I'm not sure about where you live, but in the u.s. you can make parodies for days!
Zarkosis Smash for dayz*
@@TrentHamilton something wrong sousaphone
i actually think some of the valves might be swapped or out of line if you get the chance please try swapping the first and third valve and tell me if it sounds any better
+piisawsom1 I've now got rid of this 'instrument' - but I checked all of the valves. It was one of the first things I did.
You got rid of it :o it was my favorite in your collection!
What did you do with it?
+MrInitialMan the novelty would make me keep it
I have a sousaphone just like this. It's such a pain playing it even though I have been playing tuba for 10+ years. But you managed to make music with it, and for that I give you mad props.
Eddie Nevarez where u get it
I own a Conn 22k sousaphone that weighs about 25-30 pounds. Just curious, how much does this one weigh?
I recall a comment in another video saying it is about 10 lbs.
Sounds like there's a leak in that thing.
Maybe you could paint some crazy design on it or turn it into a flower pot or something useful
He clearly made this title before he bought the worlds cheapest cornet
I'm honestly suprised that you don't have an entire army of subscribers. Your channel is really interesting, it should take off soon.
This is a truly majestic and noble instrument. I like to listen to this to relax
I got a cheap full size sousaphone. I needed to lengthen the lead pipe to give a better playing posture but apart from that its a nice instrument that gives concert pitch with good intonation and needed no adjustment of the tuning slides.
please make more videos with it because I kind of like it now.
Last video, I think not! You have instructed the masses with insight and mirth. That is a something that matters in an ignorant world.
Ps: that sousaphone is hilarious! Can you imagine a youngster learning to play on that?
Yowch!! I don't have perfect pitch by any means but heaven help us. It truly is unplayable. You gave it all it deserves and then some.
hey trent wich one do you like more euphonium or trombone
0:34 jesus christ ive only seen 2 of your videos and you gave me a heart attack
How's the valve compression on this horn? If you push a valve down and plug the bottom air hole on the cap, do the valve come up slowly (like good new valves) or do they pop up like the valves are leaky?
lol I can imagine that moment of panic when he said "this will probably be the last video I will ever make"
I used to think that the French Horn was the most gruesome medieval instrument of torture, but I think I've changed my mind. Being bound up and trapped inside a heap of metal sounds like the rack to me. It's no wonder you're looking uncomfortable.
3:18 me...
So, its basically an oversized, untuneable baritone
*INSERT PERFECT PITCH*
The pain I go through listening to this instrument...
@@wafallell Yes it does. However it also enhances it
I have a request for a new video with this instrument! THE BURNING OF THE INSTRUMENT 😂😂
You need some tuning bits and a deeper cup mouthpiece. That always works
I doubt it, but could the tuning issues be caused by the lack of lead pipe bits used on a bass sousaphones? I'm not exactly an expert on the science of the overtone series.
just out of curiosity, What key is it in? Eb? might need a similar mouth peice to the small Eb Boosey & Hawkes perhaps. I’m an EEb tubist, EEb more fun than BBb but I’ve learnt on Eb n find Bb strange in fingerings however great when playing Bb trumpet similar positions ish
It is in Bb, an octave higher than a Bb tuba.
ok, cool as. It had looked similar to an Eb sousaphone I've seen in a melbourne ozbrass winds store once.
My Mom has been playing trombone for less than half a year. Her tone blows this piece of crap out of the water effortlessly.
That squeaking might be an animal living in it, which could be affecting the tuning as it moves around.
I might get a pocket trumpet for Christmas and I'll learn how to play it 🎺😯
I have been playing the Tenor Trombone for a year now. Does anyone know how I could play above a high C (C above middle C) because every time I try to get passed the very high C I feel like I'm about to faint.
That's what an Alto Trombone is for
Augie Bruno I thought you could get up to at least an Eb above that though...
Octav Posaune thanks a million and two hundred thousand.
Demos Pro Take lots of time to warm up first, playing in the high register is difficult without a proper warmup.
That's what a trumpet is for
What size mouth peice is that. Please try a 24AW and try and find any sort of air leaks
Trent: im gonna try to play a piece of music.
Sousaphone: plays horribly out of tune.
Trent: please end this tortrure. 😭😂😂
I want to Buy it ...
That is hilarious! Kinda like the sound tho, with alot of fine tuning it could be useful in a tuba-only marching band.
1:05 um yea every Sousa hurts if your not used to it.
You really should do a multi-track recording with this abomination... something beautiful like Deep Harmony that will really show off its beautiful tuning.
Probably made for the Argentine military bands.
What did you do with it?
Try a baritone tuning slide set
One of the problems with it might be bits lol, they’re like $12 each or sum
Are you selling it?
He should make a video of a normal sousaphone and compare it with the mini sousaphone
uh oh i hear an air leak
Oftentimes trumpets get described as "dark" and "smokey." I think this sousaphone falls under this category!
I know this has nothing to do with the video but im curious. Can you read and play any instruments in F? I am looking for a contrabass trombone in F not like yours which is in BBb. And if you know how to read music in F can you do a video?
The only difference is the slide positions. You read the same music, but the slide positions are different. Look at the video I did on the g bass trombone to see what I mean. Search on Google for a slide position chart. I'm wanting to get a F contrabass trombone one day, but just not able to yet. :)
This thing is made by the same makers of Bessons&Co pocket trumpets. They are decoration objects made in India.
Much better than the soloist in community college band who was supposed to play Blue Bells..
hey!, used trombone mouthpiece? or what?
Wow...
Ah yes, the time before trent knew about the world's cheapest cornet. Oh how innocent he was
Don’t worry about what everyone else says. I love it🥰
I've never heard that song before, but I was immediately like Woah! Somethings not right here! Very interesting. I never knew such a horrible instrument existed.
Could it have been made around an obscure microtonal scale?
Why is the bell flaring all screwed up? You may as well be putting your mouthpiece on a bass clarinet. This definitely has nothing to do with temperament.
Not a surprising result what with the clown bell on there. Similar face planting can be observed on things like old timey Mellophones. Actually, with the right mouthpiece...hmm. I still kinda want one, but I'm an idiot.
Did you ever try to play without the bell attached? I'm guessing if it's even reasonably tuned for 22", then no-bell might throw it all the way into D, but maybe it could play in tune with itself.
So I got one of these because I am a masochist. I like it a lot, but I would never subject other players to this in an ensemble (or even a duet). At the first bend out of the valve block, you gain ~.400" bore in something like 6-9" of tubing. Nothing does that for a reason. Forget the bell. Game over for intonation right there.
The demonstrated octave can be played in tune with an alternate fingering on the middle Bb (23). All concert G harmonics are totally buggered. Everything between low concert Ab and first pedal Eb is non-existent unless the bell is removed. Pedal concert Eb will play as a false tone on 0 and adding the appropriate fingerings gives you the rest of the sequence in 4th valve territory. This phenomenon also extends to the double pedal range. First pedal Bb does not play in tune on 13, however. You can play the bass solo from The Chain with no 4th valve on a 9' Bb horn. lol
@@Markworth i'm seriously thinking of buying one, i'm not a brass player but i'd love to have something like this, looks cool to me; wondering if there's any way of fixing its tunning issues tho, since i'd like to play with other people
@@heribertopinzon882 The octave compression is just inherent to the design. There's nothing you could do that would be effective or worth bothering. But hey. It's a hell of a wall hanger and at sub-$350, it's hard to say no. If you're not even a brass player, you're going to have an extra hard time playing anything meaningful on it.
You could make a video of you burning it!
I don't have anything that could set fire to metal :(
+Trent Hamilton buy a blowtorch
I still want one, should I call my therapist?
Did you get this horn from India too?
How much do you want for this Sousa
What's your offer?
that horn is untunefull but i can see you can play arthur pryor so easily...but i woudnt say minisousaphone...i think it would be a TENOR SOUSAPHONE...i could remember i saw it on a catalogue...
Why do i like the sound
Why do i like the sound?
The Sousaphonium
But the question is... can you crank on it?
sounds like there is a hole somewhere
I think he said in the first video with this.
very funny.
notice how this instrument has a bell way larger than most of the instrument itself... just like a mellophonium. both are untuneable.
NukaQuantam it’s called a mellophone. I don’t know why people say that mellophones are untunable tho?
I dont know what the song is supposed to be
I feel bad for your sousaphone.
Music to my ears 👌🏼
I think if you did it properly this could be an awesome instrument with a very unique sound.
If _I_ did it properly?? How is any part of the tuning problem my fault??
How could he have played it differently? Is there a new way to play brass instruments we don't know about? (sarcasm)
Trent Hamilton Sorry, I didn't make my point clear, I meant if the instrument was built properly, with good quality, I was in no way trying to insult you or your playing, my mistake that that wasn't clear.
Allan Tayor Ahh no worries :) Thanks for clearing that up :)
Trent Hamilton Part I play tenor trombone in the orchestra detej August nauczys still wanted to play the tuba b or b heliconias but my conductor says that if I will be played on other mouthpieces blast spoil yourself if this is true ?
Ugh.... That's rough... A semi round tone but... Not in pitch to any scale I'm used too.
Could you please honor this request to thoughtfully and kindly play the song, "Way Down Upon the Swanee River", on the Mini Sousaphone; and, subsequently upload the video to your channel so that it might be studied? Thank you . . .
(Un)fortunately I no longer have this abomination of an instrument.
sell it as a microtonal susaphone
I don't even understand how it is possible for two harmonics an octave apart can be out of tune. Yikes! Any physicist out there who can explain this?
That's tough to watch 😂😂
6:02
2:36
That sounds awful
More in tune than our high school band
That sousaphone sounds like a Baratone.
That's the idea
Fred Sampson! Where are you?!
😢🎉
Try tuning that instrument.
wow! That instrument reminds me of Egypt because it 'sphinx'. Ouch what a desiccated turd.
I do like the tone of this instrument, very sad. Pity it's rubbish tonally.
Jonathan Keeler You say you like the tone then say you hate it.
The fact that he could sit down with it is not good
T
Make a video of you destroying it
As a tuba player this offends me, HEAVILY!!!
That was painful to listen to.
