I personally enjoy watching people's reaction to reading/watching One Piece, as do many die hard fans. It's always a joy to see someone start the series and their experience with it. I can say that I haven't seen someone with your interpretation, or at least someone with that interpretation as vocal/expressive. I'll break it down a bit.
For most people who like your typical serious battle manga, Zoro is everyone's favorite. He was introduced that early for those fans to contrast Luffy's goofy, carefree nature. Luffy and Zoro are both idiots though, one just doesn't care and the other thinks he isn't. My personal favorite character, you haven't been introduced to yet. My favorite Strawhat, I would have to say is Robin.
I think you also give Luffy too much credit when recruiting his crew, he doesn't leverage anything, that would be the opposite of everything Luffy as a character, stands for. He recruits Zoro not because he's strong and he sees he is in a tough spot, but rather because he knows Zoro, despite his tough exterior, is a kind-hearted person. Luffy is a great judge of character even though he is stupid in mostly every other regard.
Worldbuilding isn't just the physical world, it's the culture, the beliefs, social structure, history, language, etc. Skypiea does have more to it than what was absorbed. If you read the manga, Skypiea is the most important arc to date when it comes to the mysteries of the One Piece world. The Cover Stories of the manga show's Enel/Eneru's journey to the moon (Endless Varse). It's crazy how simple images with no dialogue can explain so much. I would look into that. Also if you didn't know, Enel/Eneru is a Berkin and destroyed all the other Berkins and their Sky Island except for his officers and anyone not on Berka at that time. The Shandarians are also part of the 3 tribes and the Skypians are another tribe. You won't realize how much Skypiea is important until later on in the story either. But just don't sleep on it like most others have. You'll see also that isolated nations from the world government have different forms of currency, customs, and ways of speaking and words for different things.
He is selfish, and that selfishness extends to people he views as friends. The main reason he helps Vivi out so much isn't because he's a good person, as much as he sees his friend trying to do something and destroying herself to do so, and it frustrates him. He also trust his crew enough to know they can handle themselves in any situation, which at this point in the story, even if it's not the smartest. He knows his crew will do what they can to persevere.
[Edit: Forgot to put his in and just remembered]
Luffy's idea of piracy isn't everyone's idea of Piracy. I seen someone comment this already, but it's about personal freedom. If you try and put your idea of piracy onto Luffy, it won't match expectations. They do have traditional pirates in One Piece, but everyone has their own definition of Piracy, just like every Navel Officer has their own brand of "Justice" (as you will find out later). One Piece isn't about view people as a stereotype, but rather as an individual. It is something that is stated through the actions of characters in East Blue. Alvida is a Pirate, Pirate = Bad, Luffy is a Pirate, Pirate = Good?. Axe Hand Morgan is Marine, Marine = Bad?, Smoker is Marine, Marine = Good??. Zoro is even described and talked about as a Pirate hunter who is merciless and threating and heartless by Coby, Alvida, and Helmeppo, but when we meet him, he ask Luffy to feed him the little girl's rice balls covered in Dirt and tell her it was Good, why? The whole premise of this is to establish that not everything and everyone can be defined by a label, or by preconceptions applied to them. You have to see everyone as an individual. Everyone has different ideals about what Piracy, Justice, even what we watch in One Piece means.
BTW, this isn't me pointing out or saying "you are wrong" just pointing out how what I see and what you see are different. Personally I think you should continue to watch and voice your own interpretations of what you watched, since like I said, no one else seems to be as expressive with that view point. It allows me to type this much lol.
Pale ..... Pale....well, you have the same sentiment as most, however, the only winning argument is that because the lack of death in One Piece, the deaths that do happen (no spoilers) either past or present do feel more impactful. But yeah, Pale should have died for that impact. I would also recommend not looking into One Piece content if you are going through the story blind. Tunnel vision your own viewing of the Material and not looking researching or looking up anything One Piece related.
As for as content creation, just do what you love. I feel like the trap for most people would be to do stuff with the objective of money and you can burn yourself out, and people watching will see that. I can't say 100% I enjoyed this content here, I could tell that this didn't feel like it was done with love, nor enthusiasm, I guess is what I was trying to say. If you enjoy something, and it comes off as such, people watching will feed off that energy and want to watch it. I won't lie, forced myself to listen all the way through so I could give you this feedback accurately as possible. If you enjoy gaming, do a gaming channel, if you enjoy talking about stuff you love watching and want to express those thoughts that are bottled up, do that. You shouldn't force yourself to do anything, it will be displayed in the work that is provided.
With that being said I might not watch any of your content other than these types of long stretch reviews if I come across them, like I did this one, I do look for them, so I wouldn't recommend stopping just because of comments, or a lack there of. (That in my opinion is a bad mentality)
Best of luck in your channel and Endeavors, and hope you enjoy the story that is One Piece.

Apologies for the delay! I saved your comment for the weekend, as I wanted to take some extra time to properly go through what you said and respond thoughtfully.
Welcome to the channel! I'm really glad you found me, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. I completely agree that staying true to what I enjoy in content creation is key, and I’ll make sure to focus more on the things I’m passionate about moving forward.
I’m happy to hear you enjoy the long reviews, and I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future content. I also won’t let comments or a lack of feedback get me down-your words are very motivating, and they encourage me to keep going! Regarding my videos, I had initially planned to finish each saga with this type of content, but I ran into some time constraints, so I had to adjust. This is my first long review, but I still intend to wrap up each upcoming saga with a similar "interview-style" review. Hopefully, I’ll manage it better next time!
I’ll continue enjoying One Piece and exploring it in my own way, and I’ll definitely compare and verify some of the things you mentioned here. I’ll keep your feedback in mind, and I hope you don’t mind if I reference your insights in future videos, as I find your breakdowns really valuable!
By the way, I have a question for you. In One Piece, when Zoro fought Mihawk, he made a promise that he would never lose again. But in Skypiea, he challenged Enel/Eneru and technically lost twice, to the point of losing consciousness. After the first attempt, Luffy rushed in to avenge him. I was expecting some interaction or acknowledgment of this between Zoro and Luffy, but now I’m about to start Water 7, and there’s no mention of it. So, I’ve concluded that Zoro’s promise might only refer to sword fighting, but that explanation doesn’t fully satisfy me. If you can shed some light on this without spoiling anything, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback!

@GiraffeReactionsZone interesting question. While I haven't gave it much thought till I read this, I would assume it wasn't literal lost of a fight, but a loss of determination to fulfill his dream. When he fought Mihawk, he allowed him to end him there, essentially ending his determination to accomplish his dream. So I would assume that Zoro's promise was to never 'Lose' sight or motivation/will to make his dream a reality. I never thought about that much or came to realize that until reading this question. A good point to make about how it's good to have different perspectives. And I do look forward to more arc reviews. If it's right after or sometime later.

Yeah, I’m also curious about what exactly you mean by ‘peak.’ Hmmm… Alabasta was really good, Skypiea felt a bit stretched, and I missed a lot of world-building and small details that would really make it feel like we were on a unique sky island. East Blue was all about gathering the crew, so now I’m wondering-what will I see in the ‘peak’? You guys are definitely making me even more curious, haha!

The main reason why luffy wants to be the pirate king so he can free the world, the government is corrupt and you will see more stuff later about how terrible the world government is. He saved alabasta to liberate the people from crocodile. Luffy fought zoro as a gag it wasn't really serious amd he was drunk

    • @GiraffeReactionsZone
      @GiraffeReactionsZone  28 днів тому +1

Thanks for the comment! However, the issue for me lies in the idea that pirates, in general, are bad or, to rephrase, corrupt individuals who will do whatever it takes to get what they want. For Luffy to aim to become the Pirate King, it feels more like he wants to be a respected pirate with great power. Knowing Luffy, he seems to have chosen this path because of his love for adventure and the thrill of facing constant challenges.
I’d honestly be a bit upset if his goal turned out to be freeing the world. As for Alabasta-ehhh, freeing it? Not really. He even said, ‘People die’ to Vivi. His motivation wasn’t liberation; it was simply helping Vivi because he likes her. And, let’s be honest, his poor judgment often puts his crew in danger. I’m still a bit confused about his character overall.

@@GiraffeReactionsZoneUnderstandable. Luffy isn't a simple character. To me, he is the romanticism incarnation. He fight every injustice in his way. All the friends he did was by fighting their problems, the injustice they're involved. For him, being a pirate means freedom because he was influenced by a good pirate, Shanks.
