I'm a longtime watcher of your great farming site it's great to watch someone so energetic and happy at his work I was prompted to get in touch because of your problem with broken buckles on calf jackets have you thought of adding strong double sided Velcro tape no stitching needed or it can be stitched if necessary Barry
Hi adrian in my school we have an agriculture club to learn more about farming and to hear how other do it aswell and every wednesday we have a speaker to talk to us. Today we had a vet and the last week we had a man that had lost his arm in agri and he was teaching us how to stay safe and i was wondering if you would like to come have a chat to our club sometime?
I know from experience how thick the hedges are in Ireland. I was in a rental car touring the countryside. I missed a turn and was turning around in a narrow road. I went into the hedge a few inches (as you can over her with no harm done) and I really wrecked the front bumper. Lost my 350 pound deposit. Those hedgerows are very efficient as fences!!!
Hi Adrian and girls, From what i could see the bush is a Camelia japonica. As for the Leylandii it was bred in Wales and further varieties were bred in Ireland, western red cedar Thuja genus, pronounced “thoia” is the best evergreen hedge for a garden setting
Great work Adrian. When building shed leave a small door from each calf pen so you can let small calves out early with access back for milk and shelter. I did that in my house , great job 👍
Hi Adrian My kids enjoy your channel If you have any more of the macrocarpa or palm hedge left you should keep a few of the strong bits for corner posts you would get years out of them it is full of oil I have used them great job.
Another great video with so much content and goes to show that it’s not all farm work that farmers do this shows a little of the other stuff you have to do. Looking forward to watching the shed go up. Great narrative too that k you for explaining and telling all about it great Adrian thank you.
Realy enjoyed the history , mYbe if youvhave a digger you coulf repland that rose bush or what ever it is . Fun watching you in fast motion taking the hedge out . Have a good day .
I’m pretty sure that wasn’t speeded up, the amount of work you get through Adrian I think that’s the speed you go at all the time. Wishing you all the best for the projects you have planned. Stay safe.
Well Adrian, i think that block wall needs to come down, to me it doesn't make sense to have to drive around the home house, up the laneway, and then down the yard, im sure you've thought about that i just thought id mention it, looking forward to see the build in the coming weeks
@danieloreilly9085 laziness???.....i think the word your looking for is efficiencies, any infrastructure improvement should consider workflow/people movement etc. happens across every industry, couple trips back and forth because of a forgotten top link or something would get old pretty quick
Sending Best of wishes from Chicago, those hills remind me of ‘Madabawn’ ? Spent many summers as a wee man running about the place thinking i was a great farmer. “A pure dose”, was mentioned a few times. Keep up the great content, truly appreciate it.
I actually don’t know how you’ve any energy you get so much done! I did only a small amount at my cottage this weekend and I’m wrecked today! Love the vid!
A concrete floor in the new shed sloping to the front and a channel drain for effluent from future calfs in the shed into the slatted shed and a curtain door on the front or roller door to help with draft
Looking forward to seeing how things progress Loved the dogs just stood watching you and the girls thinking what's going on during the time laps.Great channel living watching on a Sunday morning with a cuppa 👍
Adrian what about a window in the corner of the outdoor seating area for you parents - the sun can come in, the wind can stay out and they can see out over the farm - a second hand alumiumn window of a good size would be great in that area with the fence on either side
that Camellia can be dug out in winter or early spring and transplanted *leave a good size dirt ball around the roots) - we did a heap on the farm may years ago when we need to increase sizes of sheds - we had them dug out and transplanted and they are still in their new home now 30 years later
Make as much that area as possible an open fronted duel purpose shed with a roller wind breaker be ideal for extra loose boxes calf house machinery shed
throw a drain pipe in that ditch from floor to bottom of yard before you fill it in put the drain right by door you want to add for access to new sheds. use corrugated pipe being how ditch is very dry most water should drain into earth and all the natural stuff should help all plants and grass below it from natural nutrients from run off water. God Bless and keep up the good work.
What about getting someone in with a chipper. You could find the wood chip very useful. That’s what we did and used the digger to get up the stumps which then created a stupary in the garden.
Are you thinking along the lines of an automated calf feeder like what JFC have at the moment in the new calf shed? Seen two systems installed this year and it’s some job. Cuts down on labour time and calves looking the better for it. Keep up the excellent work 👍.
A south facing seating area is a must . Looks very shaded in that corner you pointed out ? Keep up the good work tho always finding something to do on an immaculate farm !
Rather than spend hundreds on fencing to block up those gaps, here's an alternative. Criss cross sticks ie canes so animals can't get through then plant box hedging in the gaps. In no time at all the box will fill those gaps and you can keep your green hedge, as that fence will kill off the hedge in time.
I love the cedar too. I love the smell of cedar and it makes wonderful arrangements at Christmas.❤️🐝🤗 Oh, btw…. Some types of that flat cedar are burned by Native Americans as protection. It’s good to surround your yard with it.🤗
Brilliant video/job Adrian 👍 That was a nice wee Mother's Day present (her view back of the lovely landscape 🥰) Your garden is lovely, and how to get rid of pesky 🐇 I was lol the girls were talking to you 🎧😂 Have a lovely day Adrian and family ❤
Had a laurel hedge at my last house, have a leylandaii one now and it's horrible. Can't take it down though the root mass is stopping my garden from sliding into my neighbours. It's a lot cheaper than building a 35' long 8' deep retaining wall. 😭 Nice seeing the girls help, I've always been in favour of child labour. 😂🤣👍
"My mother will be happy to see it gone, it will give her a view over the land", ermmmm Adrian are you forgetting that you are building a big shed there! Just joking, that line gave me a laugh.
No it’s the angle, it’s maybe hard to explain but she will be fit to see out past the shed when it’s done. But I get what you mean, sure it’s a good excuse anyhow 😜😂
When I took a conifer hedge down I had a small trailer I put first bit on strapped it then second layer strapped that removed first more layers got loads on when I took the strap offa tip was like a jack in a box… the wood burns okay I did it with mine
Flippin expensive way to get somewhere to put up floodlights for your back garden...😮 🤪.. fair play sir you are a man who likes to get things done.. shure the shed is going to be a massive bonus for your family and farm.. hope you also get to have an opening barbecue in it with family and friends to.. stay safe 🏴
Most of these people have no problem going overseas on their holidays on those lovely green aeroplanes that only put water out the exhaust. Best of luck with the new shed. Hope you get a lot of new subscribers from Tom P comments.
Just watching how you start your saws Adrian, is it not safer to put your heel in the handle of the saw when starting cold? also, I couldn't help but notice, you don't use the chain break! I know you're safety conscious but not using the break is it not a bit on the dangerous side?
I think you badly need a bigger calving shed for your cows, a loose straw shed where you can let those cows who are near calving into. One calving pen for the number of cows you have calving together is hardship, staying up all night watching cows is not sustainable going forward as you get older. You're a hard worker as it is, make life easier yourself 👌 Really enjoy the channel 👍
Great video. Really enjoy a lazy Sunday morning watching your latest upload. How is it milking the heifer mum’s for the first time? Don’t think I’ve seen you do a milking video yet
Heifers are all very quiet thankfully, hopefully our last heifer calves in the next 24hrs. I have a few milking video’s there, it’s can be boring enough in the parlour this time of year
I would bury a tank in the yard instead of ripping out a good bush, a few hundred gallon tank is plenty and it wont freeze. Need to put a retaining walll and walk past the old scrapp pile to allow a safety path if something happens in the pens.
Like all the ideas but I’d take away the block wall and make your holding yard much bigger especially if your putting a crush up by the shed, cows will be facing it better and bigger crush, extra pin for holding cows. And be able to get to the new shed coming that way with machinery instead of coming down through the law
Make sure you keep pruning those cedar hedges. Here in Vancouver, British Columbia, people get lazy and end up with 200+ ft trees instead. I guess you won’t have a problem with raccoons nesting in them.
I'm a longtime watcher of your great farming site it's great to watch someone so energetic and happy at his work

My favorite show to watch, You're not a lazy man for sure.

Replying so hopefully Adrian sees this 👍🏼
Lovely bit of history. I’d say your Father was some man for one man and you do him proud with your work ethic.
Good job try that leylande hedge is terrible good to have it out
The shed will be a good job

Brilliant job Adrian, it'll certainly help the drying in the garden plus bring in great light..
Savage work Adrian.. Will be a great job!
Be Stihl my beating heart. A solid cleanup day makes quite a difference, Adrian.
I’ve always liked the looks of a well maintained cedar hedge.

@danieloreilly9085 laziness???.....i think the word your looking for is efficiencies, any infrastructure improvement should consider workflow/people movement etc. happens across every industry, couple trips back and forth because of a forgotten top link or something would get old pretty quick
I agree
With the hedge down and some of the trees due to the storms, you could add nesting boxes to help birds. It could be a fun project for the girls.
Sending Best of wishes from Chicago, those hills remind me of ‘Madabawn’ ? Spent many summers as a wee man running about the place thinking i was a great farmer. “A pure dose”, was mentioned a few times. Keep up the great content, truly appreciate it.
Maudabawn? If so then that’s right beside us. About 2 miles away
watching you work, keeps me afloat. don't stop being positive. thanks for the effort you put in.
I’m glad to see more evergreen firewood for the Lovely Morris farming family ⭐️💜💗💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We have a laurel you have made me realise it’s quite nice actually wish ours was managed better x x x😊
Great job Adrian that will be a fine shed when you get it done👍good luck with it👍👍💪

Wow. That clean up made a massive difference. Looking firward to the positive changes youre planning.
Fierce hard work to clear the site but a grand plan for its future use...Always admire your energy to push the farm forward...

Good to see the staff pitching in.
What about getting someone in with a chipper. You could find the wood chip very useful. That’s what we did and used the digger to get up the stumps which then created a stupary in the garden.
You’ll b ok to move the camilla after it blooms! Trim it down too!
Hi Adrian awesome work. Good to see the girls helping. The new shed will be a great addition to the farm. 👍🏻🇨🇦🍀
Are you thinking along the lines of an automated calf feeder like what JFC have at the moment in the new calf shed? Seen two systems installed this year and it’s some job. Cuts down on labour time and calves looking the better for it. Keep up the excellent work 👍.
Great work. I have just treated myself to a new Sthil Chainsaw to cut up two big trees at my parents. 😊
Happy cutting, can’t beat Stihl 👍
A south facing seating area is a must . Looks very shaded in that corner you pointed out ? Keep up the good work tho always finding something to do on an immaculate farm !
Agreed, that corner looked dark and wet
Great video Adrian nice tidy job what a difference there 👍👍👍
Hi Adrian the pov cam when you were cutting the timber looked very good you should try it more often when driving and stuff 👍
Where can you get the washing line double poles ?
The hardest part is always the clean up. Great worker as always.
Would you not take down the block wall and have that as a drive into the shed
well done Adrain Tom Pemberton was mentioning you yesterday
Nice video Adrian, that's some tidy up
Great video Adrian Great tidy up
What a difference a day makes!
Great video Adrian, lot of work taking the hedge down , nice and tidy as always. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
I love the cedar too. I love the smell of cedar and it makes wonderful arrangements at Christmas.❤️🐝🤗 Oh, btw…. Some types of that flat cedar are burned by Native Americans as protection. It’s good to surround your yard with it.🤗

Great video. Can't wait for the next one
Great job🚜😄👍
Hire your self a chipper then you can use the chips on flower bed oh love the channel
When is the next video of the little gray Fergie coming? Been waiting for years😢
Flippin expensive way to get somewhere to put up floodlights for your back garden...😮 🤪.. fair play sir you are a man who likes to get things done.. shure the shed is going to be a massive bonus for your family and farm.. hope you also get to have an opening barbecue in it with family and friends to.. stay safe 🏴
That would have been a good job for the 50B
Cracking video as always. Continue doing what you are doing. Love the channel Adrian
The plant is a Camellia and can be shifted, Autumn is the best time, you have the machinery to undercut and lift it, have transplanted bigger.
Another enjoyable video good man with a plan👍
Most of these people have no problem going overseas on their holidays on those lovely green aeroplanes that only put water out the exhaust. Best of luck with the new shed. Hope you get a lot of new subscribers from Tom P comments.
Brilliant job Adrian did it take long to get planning permission to remove the hedge rrr only joking🤣🤣🤣 it will be some shed when it's all done
Looking forward to your next video 🙂
Can we get a milking paler tour pls(where they go in then out
Would you make the shed 3 bays if your going to the effort of doing it
Just watching how you start your saws Adrian, is it not safer to put your heel in the handle of the saw when starting cold? also, I couldn't help but notice, you don't use the chain break! I know you're safety conscious but not using the break is it not a bit on the dangerous side?

Most hateful trees to toss them, lot of waste, not the best burners in a stove. God luck with the new project
That yolk in the round bed can go too
Get a chipper to get rid of brash
Like all the ideas but I’d take away the block wall and make your holding yard much bigger especially if your putting a crush up by the shed, cows will be facing it better and bigger crush, extra pin for holding cows. Camilia name of plant with pink flowers ..
What do the badgers do, bro, I’m from Australia, we don’t have badgers
Hi Adrian, when you were doing a POV with the saw you should've just kicked the bita the you cut if would have been hilarious 😂😂😂.
Good video Adrian !

It can be looped through the remains of the broken buckles

Great stuff. What’s the model of the long pole saw and would you recommend it thanks 👍
Stihl combi saw, great tool although quite expensive got like most things. Fierce handy though
I believe that is an Azaylia or a Camelia? It's pretty.
what you need is a chipper
You can never have enough area under roof, NEVER
It's a camelia. Wow you made short shift with that hedge 🌳🌳🌳
Never heard that name 🤔 are you referring to the shrub?
Its a Hydrangea Adrian 👍🏻
Scratch that, it’s not! Oops! 😬
Its a Camellia
5:10 sounds like a dentist drill!
Camellia plant shame you have to move it it’s a nice one
Hopefully we can dig a large hole under it and replant it. It’s a lovely plant that’s been there along time
