Mark- this one nearly got by me (maybe the title didn’t “hook” me?), but I’m so glad I resumed listening - sooo many little explosions of beauty and light scattered about the dialogue- gems “hidden in Christ” ❤
    Thanks 🙏

It seems to me that the crisis of our time is the denial of paradox. Paradox is ubiquitous. It is the very sea of our consciousness. It is what Byung-Chul Han also refers to as the disappearing Other. If we lose the paradox we lose the ability to relate for relationship is intrinsically paradoxical. To be able to live the paradoxical truth of being is to be in paradise. It needs to be realised which requires its recognition and integration. But to be in denial is to be trapped an impossible double-bind, where either we survive and avoid death at all costs, or we live and risk not surviving at all. This of course is hell. Life with a capital L is super-rationally paradoxical and paradisal. Survival with a capital S is rationally neccessary. But denial and reductionism is the great danger. Winnicott and Bateson would agree with this I think....

I think any person talking about climate change in a list of life stressors waying down upon them is showing they lead a luxurious and privileged life.

"Practicing Paradise" is an idea that syncs up with my feeling that the earth is a sort of branch office of heaven. The earth is "heaven-ish", not quite the real thing, but close. It takes some practice and a little imagination, but I believe you can close to the real thing.

I am genuinely curious how any of you make money. Is it by selling books? Do you marry into it?

Great dialog, thank you and very much in line with Tom Campbell's My Big TOE(Theory of Everything) which suggests that reality may be modelled as if it were a virtual reality with Consciousness setting this as a means of evolving it's own evolution.

Grateful for another powerful conversation. Particularly MVs fusing of the concepts of now and more as central to time. If time = more now; does now + more = time? => In the now, when awareness of more presences, time ticks: and we move morphically to the next now with our intent intact. Time for a cup of tea.

Christianity will never address the climate crisis, in fact the blame of the world's situation could be blamed on Christianity. In old Hebrew before it got translated sin meant "to fail" so as far as creating a better world, christianity has sinned. Evil prospers when good mean do nothing, being a "kind and loving christian" has meant the weakness of today's society is the final result.
The climate crisis is going to mean certain people are going to have to be forced, and force is violence depending on which side of it you are, by not allowing violence in the belief system means bad people will continue to act.
636 kilowatts of energy in one tank of diesel, 3-6 months of my comparative electrical energy, forcing people to stop emitting such huge amounts of energy isn't going to mean gentleness or turning the other cheek.

Sin in the original Greek word, was actually an archery term, meaning "missing the mark". As we know many christians today, especially the more evangelical, are more involved in the "Pathos" aspect, the emotional rather than the Logos aspect, reason & "logic". Perhaps it will have to have a renewal, new ways forward. But I doubt it can happen currently; the catharsis of an emotional experience, is too strong.

@@susanmcdonald9088 As the old testament was in hebrew i went with that yes you could fail/sin by walking home the wrong way, the new translation of sin being what it is and a moral thing it is around is fairly new and of course completely made up.

I think what separates the human vocation from other living beings' vocations, is that we were specifically made in the image of God. We are story beings, and create our worlds based on our stories... and then live out the story through our creations. Story-making, Creating, Being.
