I had the pleasure of watching Spend A Buck win the Miller High Life stakes at River Downs prior to this I believe as a 2 yr. old. My dad knew horses and said ; Son, you may have just watched the triple crown winner run up close. We live in Ky. and my dad and grandfather and brother were all good judges of horse flesh, guess he was right, but we will never know. I wish he would have went for the triple crown..
I was just given a mare named Espana, out of Spend A Buck's half-sister, Crown of Sheba. Trying to rehab her laminitis. Very lucky to get a member of this great horse's immediate family.
I saw Spend a Buck run as a 2 yr, old at River Downs winning the Miller High Life stakes with my dad. He knew horses and turned to me and said," That horse may just win the triple crown next year". Too bad they didn't try. Big mistake in my opinion.
