You can also scale the standing rollout by facing a wall so that you hit it when you roll out as far as you are able for reps. . As you get stronger, take a step back. Keep stepping back until you are able to get a full extension . Glad you shared this. The ab wheel is underrated. It makes your entire upper body stronger.
Yeah, most people know that way
I find that with this movement it isn't so much the progression you use because there are dozens of them that can work. It's more about the degree of priority you are willing to give it. People normally put it later in the workout, and if you are going to do it that way you should plan on it progressing very slow. The more aggressive progression schemes you find online are not going to work as well, or at all.
The way I got to where I could do it was with a dynamic double progression. I used a wall to standardize the distance, and touched the ab wheel to the wall to get the reps. I worked between 6, and 12 reps. Every time I got 12 reps clean, I would go out further on the hard day, starting back at 6 reps. On my easier day I would do 12 from my previous distance to maintain that work capacity. I would then do a variation where I started on my toes, where they would be in the bottom position, and used my hips more.
That method works no matter where it ends up in the workout.
I'm actually doing it again now that I am 10 pounds heavier, and haven't done the exercise in a while. It's going smooth, and predictable down to the exact rep.
Your way will work too, I'm not saying it won't, but I think mine is gonna be easier for most people. So I thought I'd share it.
It's definitely a fun exercise but another good one would be in a Nordic curl setup on the floor because you can offset a lot of the load of the anterior chain by putting some of the load on the hamstrings
Nordic rollouts I call them. Amazing core movement to do before you squat.
This was the fastest and most no bs explanation I’ve heard and I appreciate it
Incredible! I have been working on this. Much appreciated
Well done!!! Thanks.
Good stuff! Thanks!
Excellent video, with a great blend of depth and consiceness
Thank you my friend
Thank you!
All very good suggestions. Thanks for your time and enthusiasm.
Brian this is sooo helpful!
Great content as always, thanks a million!
EXCELENTE! MUY DIDÁCTICO.
Fantastic alternatives.
Years back I got myself an ab wheel roller with springs in it that get tighter as you roll out so the end of the motion gives the greatest assistance. Very useful for starting out, though what isn't is I have no idea where I bought it from!
Being able to do these weighted is pretty interesting.
Great exercise 👍🤠
Boot recommendation please. Thanks for all the videos.
You are such a shrewd and phenomenal dude Brian; thank you very much indeed for the great share man. Best Regards!!!
Thank you Coach I’m still a long way from the standing roll out but this is saved for future reference
cccclllllLLLAAAAPPPPP! That build up was something special 😂
Ive been doing the kneeling position for a few weeks now
I decided to try the standing position and i just plopped in the floor in front of many people... went home after that
I do this but with the shopping cart
do the subshares really help the channel? hahaha when Brian goes into B&W mode it got real lol! good tips, thank you!
The sub shares help more than you would believe haha
I used a wall. Stand further and further away from the wall. To make
It harder
Tore my abs the first time I tried from the feet. Do them from my knees right now.
ive never seen a roller like that, can u link me?
Sure
Jeez Brian, I wish you had a send $ option. I've benefited too much from ALL of your videos to not feel obligated at this point.
