I remember completing this game on veteran which meant no health packs in addition to the no recharging health system. So much fun and so much frustration at the same time.
A game with a realistic Nazi perspective of the conflict, whithout lessons about which side was good or evil would be awesome, something like the movie Downfall and I'll buy it, for sure.
Why would anyone want to play call of duty classic in multiplayer anyway? The only reason to get this game is to see where the series started through the single player campaign. If you want multilplayer, you have countless other options out there that will have all of the modern refinements.
How is it "squad-based"? You don't tell your friendly a.i. what to do. COD's idea of "squads" is intentionally making the enemy a.i. unfairly difficult to kill (perfect reflexes, roboaim accuracy, high damage point values) and putting these enemies in spots where a player will get ambushed and have no chance of reacting unless he already died and knew they were there. Instead, what the game wants you to do is not run ahead and shoot bad guys, but to wait for your equally stupid friendly a.i. to awkwardly waddle their way up to the frontline, die like idiots, and then let you shoot the Nazis while they're distracted killing your target practice squad mates. It's stupid, it's not realistic, there's no strategy involved; it's just punishing the player for trying to have fun or do anything for himself. This is a completely on-rails experience from start to end, and the dated, low-quality set pieces are not remotely impressive to look at now, and I don't think they ever were to begin with. This completely broken, unenjoyable experience is lazily lifted from the far superior Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. That game's core mechanics and even entire levels are recreated in Call of Duty, but done way worse. (Take the battleship level, for e.g., which copied MOH's level of going undercover as a German, showing papers, and blowing up a U-Boat, except this time the player watches the a.i. do all those things instead of doing it himself.) Call of Duty even copies Call of Duty, with many of the levels reusing the exact same map as in a previous level, where now you defend a position you captured last level, just to pad out the game. The one semi-decent moment that is at all worth experiencing--that opening level to the Russian campaign--again just feels like little more than an attempt to outdo the Allied Assault Omaha Beach level. You can't help but feel you've seen it done before and done better, and that's about the only part of the game even remotely decent.
He said it right, the game was designed for mouse and keyboard. Now u know how it feels for a pc gamer to play a shitty console port designed for a gamepad
I hate haying to say Call if Duty Classic to refer to the original. I should just have to say Call of Duty and everyone should know I'm talking about the original, not the retarted bullshit of "modern warfare."
umm yeah... that's not generalizing at all. and i definitely never played any of the PS1 or N64 fps games in which there never was regenerating health or autoaim. nor did i ever play such classics on the ps2 such as Black or even such underrated games such as XIII -- which all worked with health packs. oh, the limited gamer that i am... really, your comment is just gaming snobbism of the worst kind.

Personally, I can't imagine playing this game on a console, but I'm glad it's finally out there for the younger generations to try out. Great game.
why those deslikes?
Once you download it, where can you play it?
Is this on psn
I can't find it anywhere for ps3!
its still on playstation store (PS3)
Now look where the series is today....sad....

Cod2
How much is this game, on PSN?
you compare it to the pc ver. that you played. what if someone that didn't play it with a mouse would test it or give you input?
does it have 4 player split screen feature on ps3 ?
No :(

there was an expation pack for cod1 on pc that gave us a German campaign
then play red orchestra 2
Ah life bars....remember thoes days? :)
Back when there was actulley a challenge.
That's actually a brilliant idea. I'd love to see it from that perspective.
Red Orchestra 2 has a German campaign.
man, i remember playing this when it first came out. Good times :)
this game was fucking awsome loved it some old school memories

if you are so disapointed play the original on pc at max and you resolved the proplem!
Ahhh.... the original CoD. Pure greatness. Now look at the franchise.
That would get a lot of controversy. That's why they haven't done that yet.
music on the intro ?

It was always HD you know.
Yeah on PC. On PS3 and Xbox 360, it sucks. The multiplayer is only like 8 players while PC has more players for multiplayer.
I played them both and they blew compared to 2-MW3.
"They released the original with HD graphics" umm nope they just re released it its not an HD remake like MOH Frontilne
Well FPSs are best played on PC
so they cheaped out on this port and it's a waste of my money? that's all I got out of this.
He said it right, the game was designed for mouse and keyboard. Now u know how it feels for a pc gamer to play a shitty console port designed for a gamepad
Graphic just the one
Agreed. :)
squad based fps? um, no
Controls aren't bad, their something you would experience on ps2
need money to make games thats how it works just sayin
Looking on ps store and its 20$ ...
in paris?.... wait wat?
nooooooooooot
I had this on ps2
brutal
COD 3 is great too

console gamers that need cheats to win since they suck at games. Autoaim, autogenerating health, quicktime events etc...
that s for ps 3

The console versions of the cods and moh were bad.Pc versions are much better.Besides cod classic on xbla. It's still great.
console gamers cant handle games like this that have no autogenerating health or autoaim
You elitist PC gamers are getting extremely annoying.
