Yea one of my favorite UA-cam channels to watch I had been watching girl in the woods most of this winter and I hadn't really watched alone. But I had also watched a video of the trip down the Yukon river on the rafts and just fell in love with her family. So now I'm excited to watch season 5.

Yeah it was pretty deep, but it was also a pretty small hook. I don't think she had ever had a hook in her hand before that either, she probably could have removed it, though she might have got extracted afterwards anyway.
Most people haven't had a hook that deep. I have been fishing since I was a toddler and have been impaled by hooks, but not that deep. That deep usually requires a trip to the ER. It's hard enough removing a splinter by yourself when all you have is your left hand to do it.
I have had to remove hooks from both hands,; other people, and even a stray dog who ambushed a treble hook. It is a steep learning curve, I was more worried about the dog than ever for myself... I didn't have pliers that time, I carried the poor pooch 1 and a half miles to my home and then got the side cutting pliers to remove the trebble hook. Ever since that incident I carry some sort of pliers capable of cutting the heaviest hooks I use.

I don't see the need for an axe and a saw....wasted an item... I saw someone bring a bow a few seasons ago..no luck at all with it.. good luck with that.. I would have taken the axe and left the bow and the saw.. then choose 2 different items. A tarp would be great. If multi-vitamins are allowed, one a day would be nice or another bag of ration if I couldn't think of anything else.

Folks, anyone can lay around and survive on 1/2 lb per day of their bodyfat. Doing so doesn't indicate one damned thing about their ability to do anything useful. I mean, a wooden chimney on your shelter. What could POSSIBLY go wrong with that, hmm? :-) Any cub scout would have known better than to risk that.
This show was awesome the first two seasons.... since you started this team thing and having contestants compete more than once is STOOPID !!!! NOT WORTH WATCHING...
Stop putting trained actors on the show no real survival expert would bring a axe and a saw everybody with a decent intelligent would not bring a axe and a saw

Sharon Johnson you don’t get it this is a starvation challenge so obviously the more body fat you carry the longer you can last you could survive for fifty days fasting and just drinking hot water and lots of it and before you jump down my throat the great Mors Kochanski passed on that pearl of survival wisdom oh and you might want to have a look at Fowler winning season 3 it came down to him having a bigger BMI than Carliegh!

I have done so as well but there are many different levels of hook removal. Carleig's was in very deep and close to tendons, veins, etc.
