    Nice to see a repair guide for this phone. I have a Tracfone LG K31 Rebel as a spare phone, and it's not very much of a rebel at all since it doesn't have the fingerprint scanner.

    Great video, actacully one of the best I have seen, have a question for you, I still use the phone since I like the small size & lightweight ,These days so much bigger & heavier, I replaced the battery already thanks to your video but even prior to taking it apart I had issues with the loud speaker, sometimes it worked & sometimes not, the ringer too, I checked the contacts & they seemed fine, now it stopped working completely, when i turn on the loudspeaker I get a click sound, same click sound when I get a call or a text, just one click, I am willing to purchase a replacement speaker for $10 & give it a try , from your experience do these speakers go bad, it does have contact since I do hear a click from the speaker instead of a ring or notification sound, any input would be appreciated, Thanks Dan

      Hey Dan, those speakers go bad more often than the batteries in my experience. Both LG and Motorola speakers seem to just blow out eventually, and that little click is exactly what you’ll hear from a dead speaker. I’d say those new speakers should get you up and running. Be sure to wipe the gold contacts in your phone with a tiny bit of alcohol so they make a solid connection.

      @@TapticDigital First thanks for getting back so quickly, I just took it apart again to clean the contacts as you mentioned but still the same click so I figured some one such as yourself would possibly know what the click sound might be, going to order it now & thanks again for responding & great video & narration, Dan

      @@princethewondercat no problem! The click is usually the result of the speaker cone being seized. The speaker has a cone that vibrates up and down to produce sound, on these the mechanism is super tiny and wears out. When it wears out the moving part tends to get stuck, so when the phone sends voltage to it, it tries to move but ends up hitting whatever it’s stuck on and then failing to move anymore. Then it turns “off” and goes back to its resting state, give it voltage again and you get the same thud, or in this micro sized case a “click” sound.

      @@TapticDigital It's interesting you mention that because several months ago the sound from my laptop was low & muffled so I decided to take it apart & check the speakers & what did I find ,somehow metal dust was attached to the speakers & would not allow them to vibrate properly, after removing the metal dust with a magnet the sound was perfect, in some ways similar since it could not vibrate probably, I will update once I get the replacement, once again thanks for the explanations & the Video, helped a lot ,Dan.

    Would it be ok to apply some low heat for the component removal ribbons? They’re really on there and I don’t want to risk ripping one.

      For the side buttons? Absolutely, those really are super stuck in there, alcohol, heat or both are the best way. Nice and slow!

      That is really weird, I'd take a look at those gold contact pins on the board and make sure there isn't corrosion anywhere nearby.

      @@TapticDigital Hi thanks for responding, I found no corrosions but what I did notice when magnified , the the pins on the speaker seem to be fine but where they make contact seems to be worn from the pins, meaning they are gold too but have a silvery spot where the pins make contact , could that be the issue that those gold contacts are worn, if so what can be done, thanks again

    was that phone a non battery removal?

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  2 роки тому

      It's technically a non-removable, but can be removed by disconnecting the ribbon, then using some heat or alcohol to soften the glue that holds it in

    Hey how do you attach the smaller components to the new frame? Can it just stick on or do i need any kind of adhesive? Also what kind of alcohol do i need? Just regular rubbing?

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  2 роки тому +1

      The small ones just stick on with double sided tape, alcohol needs to be at least 90%, but ideally should be 99%

    I got this phone was watching yt and it got to 5% so I put it on the charger and left it alone then it got hot and shut off can't get it back on what could be wrong I need to get it back on got stuff on it that I can't replace

      It might have gotten stuck, you can try holding both volume and power buttons for about 10 seconds to perform a soft reboot. Otherwise opening it and disconnecting the battery for a bit may help.

      @@gamer4life9412 that's not a good sign, that could be some internal damage. Best I could say is leave it sitting for a day or two to make sure it's completely dead, then try to charge it up. Otherwise take it to a shop or replace it sadly.
