Kirk Alyn and George Reeves were the first two live-action Supermen actors when Christopher Reeve portrayed Superman for the first time, this theme composed by John Williams became the iconic Superman theme that people memorized.
Around whenever Superman Returns came out, I started dreaming that I could fly, and land, and do practically what Superman could do. Eventually, when Superman Returns became old news, even though I could still fly, I forgot how to land. Now, I just float. And, when I’m having these dreams, it feels real. But I wish I could really fly
Thank you for this edit 😍 When I watched MOS without knowing anything about the movie, I expect to hear this theme song once again. I was so disappointed not to hear it that it came to my mind that Reeve's superman was still the best. But still a great superman movie for Cavill 👍
So, was the part where he’s floating, and the Army officers are pointing their guns at him, and he’s asking the General where Lois is, and not to play with him filmed in New Mexico?
best edit evee, when I clicked I though zimmer music, but always wishes man of steel with williams music. but after play I felt great, this is superman theme song, best edit ever, thank you for upload
Vipul Bhargava no doubt... But a little bit of this in between the song wouldn't have done any harm. Just like they have a bit of imperial march in the anaikin theme in The phantom menace
@@PralaynathGendaswami This is completly different. This theme never would have fitted with the dark tone of the movie. Man of steel's theme is godly and perfect
Hans Zimmer's score is fantastic; however, it would have served best as an underscore to the one initially introduced by John Williams. Beyond the music itself, the music provides clues about what Superman represents -- at least to a film-going audience. There is a sort of razzle-dazzle with Williams' score that everyone loves, reflecting the razzle-dazzle of the initial Superman movie. To make a completely captivating Superman film, you cannot wander too far astray of what Williams put into his score. One only need look at what made Superman the Movie successful to figure out how to make a sequel. Superman Returns came pretty close. It used Williams' score added with new stuff by John Ottman who blended his music in a seamless way. The Williams' score sets the boundaries. Superman can be many things but don't let him drift out of being the icon we all know and love. To do so risks an audience dislike of the character, and will take you no further than the confines of Superman Returns. Superman was never meant to be a dark character, and putting him into such a position only risks box office sales. Stick as close as you can with the Christopher Reeve character, and the audience will be content. Stray far from this and you risk a blockbuster failure.
Perfectly said.... And I think it's clear now that DC/Warner Bros are trying to bring Superman back to the more hopeful and lighthearted Christopher Reeve style Superman. Henry Cavill was amazing in Justice League, and at moments watching him felt as if you were watching Christopher Reeve Superman back on the big screen. Every time he was on screen he elevated the scene.....And regardless of how anyone feels about the movie, or the whole cgi mustache thing, Henry Cavill WAS Superman in Justice League....People can feel however they want about MOS and BVS, But I personally feel like we finally saw the Supes that we have been waiting to see. And I hope that we get to see a sequel to Man of Steel with this new direction that WB is taking
@Alok Krishna Exactly. The Hans Zimmer score is great, and is one of, if not the best of the modern superhero themes. But there's just something so special about the John Williams one, and it's not just nostalgic, it really is so hopeful and epic. It fits superman perfectly.
I guess this is more of a question concerning Smallville than Man of Steel, (still Superman,) but if it took Clark years to figure out he had powers, why did it everybody else from Krypton a shorter time to figure out they had the same powers? (Unless Clark was too young to use those powers, and the powers just evolved as he got older...)
The theme from Man of Steel is completely forgettable. The theme by John Williams is not only memorable, it's hopeful and uplifting, inspirational, like Superman.
I'm from the old school and I saw reeve's superman when I was a teenager .. but in terms of music I like a thousand times more hans zimmer's version .. it makes me bigger .. exciting epic for the most famous of superheroes .. it was perfect for the man of steel
Ryan Lbronze This theme is Superman it perfectly sums up what he is. Hope Truth Justice. and getting the job done without trying to resort to violence which are all things children need to learn
Imagine the justice league is getting their asses kicked by thousands of paradeamons and when all hope seems lost you first hear a sonic boom and everybody stops fighting then the slow buildup music starts and all hell breaks loose as superman comes crashing in the paradeamons army.
Hey I'm glad you liked the video....I get chills everytime I listen to the theme, so I'm glad you felt the same way.... Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.
Matt Schulthies thank you for video, Superman is not just a character to me, he is real to me, an inspiration & folks like you, true fans who really get it, brings us true believers to tears. He stands for hope, inspiration, ❤️ love ❤️ truth. And as Kal El always said, as long as there are people like you out there, I will always be there, always. So to you I thank. I get goosebumps every time, eveytime. I love ❤️ him
Christian. lennon1979 Thank you for taking time to write such nice comments, I'm truly happy that you enjoyed the video..... and yeah Superman is more then just a comic/movie character, he's someone to look up to and remind you to be a better person. Anyway thanks again
Both of them are great....but the music of man of steel was not only hope, uplifting and everything superman potrays but it was really more than that.....it represents struggle, pain, dilemma and everything the great hero has gone through life....Hans Zimmer version is really good for this movie and is not at all forgettable...this music in the video is just a classic...not a realistic piece
This theme is of such iconic greatness, that the main reason I didn't care for the film was it's exclusion. It's a good film.... don't get me wrong... but this song IS SUPERMAN. Good job on a great video. Actually makes me wanna watch it again!!!
jeremiah sanders Hey thanks for the nice comment.... and I couldn't agree more with you, as good as Man of Steel's score was, and as good as Henry Cavill is, it just doesn't feel right without this theme. Anyway, I'm still hoping they use it in justice league when Superman comes back
That's a good point, Brandon Routh was great for playing Christopher Reeves Superman, because they really were the same Superman, just years apart...... but i think Henry Cavill still has that similar look to those other guys and is great for playing a new rebooted Superman
Fantastic edit fella, really enjoyed this! As a 40 year old male, this forged my childhood, so thankyou for very obviously doing this very well indeed. As an aside, does anyone else notice how Henry Cavill looks a lot like Christopher Reeve's when under the terraformer. I have got to say, I felt quite choked at that point. Good job man!
For the people going on about the original theme not being in the new film, listen closely and compare the new theme with the old. Same notes, just more subtle and elegant in zimmer's than bombastic and heroic in williams'. Both scores fit the tones of their respective films.
+Bay Sean for the Behind the Scenes clip for Man Of Steel was taken in 2012 commemorating the 60th birthday anniversary of the late Christopher Reeve (1952-2004) right? but that film was released in June 2013.
3000tomas it doesn't, or at least originally didn't.....but the video got a copyright strike for using one of the original Superman themes, so that portion of the video that plays the song got muted in certain countries.

I know many people here liked this (those people who watched old superman movies) But IMO it doesn't fits here (as I haven't watched any of the old supes movie) Again it's just MY OPINION.
Every Superman movie/TV series should've included this theme. It is what defines "Superman" :-)
LGranthamsHeir Exactly, that's why the last shot of Smallville was so great....And I hope that they use it for Supermans return in justice league

The only theme for Superman!!!!!!!
Period if they play this in
Man of Steel II the place will explode..
'He's doing his Superman thing...'
yes your correct..they should used this song when superman will enter the justice league...
