It's because I don't get involved in cases that have already been started. If I feel the case is right for me, then I want to handle it from the very start.
There are a series of "getting to know you" questions an attorney will ask near the beginning, both trying to put you at ease and to assess whether you are the type of witness to over-explain answers (thereby providing new lines of inquiry/attack)
