Awesome! I’ve got sound and it sounds good. Once I load a sound font how do I load the different presets within that sound font without a computer? Can I set a midi CC value to scroll through presets within the sound font? I’m only able to play the first initial bank sound when playing live (without a computer)
The intended way to set things up is to create a patch for each preset in the soundfont(s) you want to use. However, program change messages will switch presets in whatever soundfont is playing on the same channel. You can set your keyboard to send them or edit the bank file to route one of your controls to a `prog` message. The router rules section of the wiki explains: github.com/albedozero/fluidpatcher/blob/master/patcher/file_formats.md#router_rules
can i create my own sound fonts or edit those available?
im trying to build a modular wavetable VCO
Yes you can edit/create soundfonts - there are a number of programs out there but Polyphone is my fav: www.polyphone-soundfonts.com/
do the sounds have to be soundfonts or are vsts also supported? and if not can i convert vst to sf2? and if i do that will i lose quality and/or functionality? sorry for the questions but im new to midi in general
No worries. VST and soundfonts are different types of things - SF2 are files with samples and rules about how to play the samples. VSTs are plugins - mini-programs designed to run inside a DAW (digital audio workstation) program such as Ableton or Ardour. There's no direct way to convert a VST into a soundfont. You _can_ use a soundfont editor to sample the sounds a VST makes (or any instrument/audio source) and create your own SF2 file. FluidPatcher only uses soundfonts.
i don’t find an mac installer.. Do you have a link?
Sorry - the link in the video description needed updating. The updated requirements and install procedure are documented here: github.com/GeekFunkLabs/fluidpatcher#requirements
