Yokosuka is ~18 miles further south by road, ~11 miles as the F-35C flies. or maybe it was an F-35B, as the JS Izumo currently in Yokosuka, getting refitted from a DDH destroyer/helicopter carrier into a CVL light aircraft carrier, with the capabilities to launch and recover F-35Bs, and currently have USMC pilots with them to help with the training.
From what I understand, 2-4 of the FA-50s the Philippine Air Force has is already upgraded and integrated by Israel's Rafael to use Phyton 5 and I-Derby missiles, though they can only use Mavericks for surface attacks for now, but Rafael is also offering their sea breaker anti-ship missiles for the FA-50s and FA-50 can carry two of those missiles. Philippines is also in the process of acquiring multi-role fighters and it's highly possible that the Philippines will have F-16 with the assistance from the United States, while the Philippine government would acquire Jas-39 Gripens. The Philippines is also in the process of receiving their land-based Brahmos anti-ship missile system, 3 batteries of it. The two frigates the Philippine Navy has have C-star anti-ship missiles which is also from South Korea, and the 2 corvettes and 8 OPV that is already under construction in south Korea will also have the C-star anti-ship missile system. 5:51 The US military not being based there is the aftermath of the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship collapsing. It was made very clear by the new government that the US leave, and they did, which is why the bases on Okinawa expanded.
They also re-opend several bases to the USA which is why we allowed them to buy iirc 200 aircraft a few years ago and we have been training them on how to use them.
this is only a simulator. even a Chinese citizen like me can conclude that our airforce will lose horribly one-sided against US airforce in a dogfight & this is very obvious. our design is not all-rounded perfect unlike the US but rather focusing on its sole purpose. our tech still have some missing gaps so we only do watever is available. we rely on long-range tactics & our missile force (a separate branch) serves as the backbone. actually, its on the question of how good we can locate the enemies before they could locate us

Finally! Been waiting for you guys to start including the Philippines in Taiwan contingency scenarios ever since the country had a dramatic shift of bilateral relations with the USA starting last year.
38:52 I would say a slight win for the US on the flottila-front, since they just can get back to the next port to rearm, whereas one enemy ship is in need of heavy reapairs (out for at least a couple of weeks, maybe months) and one is damaged (so probably at a week of repair added). So in the next encounter the US would have all it's ships vs 1 or even 2 ships less from the Chinese and that advantage would only rise with time
Keep in mind they cut out the aftermath. There are still the other US bases in the area within range plus the Philippines aircraft can land and rearm with anti ship missiles. The Chinese task force had nothing left to defend themselves so they would have all been sunk within the next two to three hours. The US forces are likewise out of missiles but are much closer to friendly territory with enemy reinforcements being much less certain and they therefore have a much higher chance of escape.
@@collinwood6573 I don't think China is disadvantaged if you count the aftermath. They have 6-7 airfields within 1000km of the Scarborough Shoal. PLARF has also got a range of cruise and ballistic missiles such as the CJ-10 and DF-21D. No ship would survive till replenishment in such a fight...
Good simple simulation. I love stealth planes and stealth missiles - but after a while they can also be a bit dull especially when fighting non-stealthy adversaries.
China has 9 055 destroyers, all of which will be sent down south in this likely situation, without mentioning cooperate strike from the rocket force, J-20s, J-10s, J-16Ds and H-6K. All of which can easily reach strike distance without areal refueling

I wonder if the US is going to load up a bunch of maritime strike tomahawks on a SSGN and use that for a swarm attack on PLAN shipping. Obviously can’t be modeled in DCS right now, but would be cool to see.
Cap, @ 39:30 the carrier is taking hits from the Ashm strike. Even if the Liaoning somehow stays afloat, it's out of action for the fight. If it was sunk, weeelllll... Win for blue force. Hope you do a rematch of this, with late 2020's weapons, assets, and force structures for both sides.
I hope you channel could create more of this kind DCS World Scenario. I hope you could create a model for the Philippine Navy Ships with current (HDF-2600) and with future acquisitions like HDC-3100
the issue remains DCS's simple hitpoint system for ships. At least a ship should start getting disabled much earlier, long before it would be "destroyd". Launchers and stuff are probably out of order after a hit or 2. Moving that much further up the hitpoint scale should not be impossible at least.
I think the fleet that opens up first with anti ship missiles has an advantage because they begin firing just within their radar defection capabilities but the reacting fleet does not have/ have worse radar targeting information else they would have fired first. As such, the defending fleet would have to guide its anti ship missiles using real time satellites, indirect reconnaissance and weak radar signals, yielding lower missile reliability and an inherent disadvantage compared to the attacking fleet.
The weaker guidance and targeting of the defensively fired anti ship missiles is much more vulnerable to countermeasures and could be neutralised in terminal phase by purely electrical & optical measures
CAP, can you PLEASE do a revision of this with the addition of JAS-39 Gripens? The Philippine government is currently in final negotiations to purchase JAS-39 Gripens, and it would be interesting to see how they would perform in this scenario.
China didnt use any of their 5th gen J20s in this fight either, I think theyre trying to simulate closely matched scenarios rather than realistic ones.
That AIM9X at 36 minutes, I think it was tracking and could have made the kill but the angle its seeker head was tracking the target went past 90 degrees and the seeker couldn't look hard right far enough so it lost it and stopped its hard turn... then it reacquired lock as the jet flew past its nose and it tracked again
I have a theory that reason why the philippine F-50 fighting eagles were taking so long was because they wanted the americans to be their vanguard or something like that
F15 is not going anywhere anytime soon the air force is already shipping out the first batch of F15xs that will serve well into the 2050s. We’re getting the first batch at pdx soon.
I'd rather get ship with cruiser missile. India is a two faced country. They sell arms to Russia. Wont be surprised if they suddenly join China. Imagine a defective Brahmos sold to Philippines. Countries should be wary of India intent.
brother, you saw what can a destroyer group from chinese navy can do, and this is only 1 group which consist of several ships carrying a total of 400+ cruise missiles, in other words, PH needs 400+ brahmos batteries/missile to counter it all, how many brahmos batteries did PH purchased? I heard a total of 4 batteries which means a total of 16 missiles only
Great battle… I don’t think Japan will just sit down if this happens… And Australia would probably join the fray… If the Philippines successfully acquires F-16s and Gripen E fighters as reported, this will make the situation for the Chinese harder.
Similar to The Battle of the Coral Sea, America foiled the plans of the enemy forces, while taking similar casualties. So, US/PI strategic victory, but tactical draw.
There are 9!!!! new US military bases in the Philippines. There were 200 F-16 delivered to the Philippines 2 years ago. Clark AFB has been reopened. I want to see a UK vs US CSG battle. With all the modern UK and US assets available including the Type 26 Frigates.
Cap turned off the carriers ability to fire because it has the russian anti ship missiles on it that China doesnt have so it wouldnt be a valid "kill" on the CV so it was mainly about getting the destroyers taken out. One was dead and 2 were hit. The anti-ships from Philippian forces would have re-armed and attacked and the 2nd forces from Okinawa would have anti-ship weapons - so this fight was won and was over. They had no more missiles left to defend with so they would have been sunk.
Hey Cap, as I have mentioned several times before PLAN also has short-range quad-packed missiles which if incorporated in this scenario will give PLAN an edge just like the US uses quad-packed ESSMs. PLAN ships are also unable to use their close range RAM system since its not facing the incoming barrage.
Great work as always Cap. I have no idea how you put out a new video every day with new ideas. War is amazingly interesting. I hope your health is doing better. Have a great Sunday sir.
So 12 anti ship missles the Phillipines navy have and you don't launch because you think they're inconsequential. It's still 12 they'd have to account for and fire upon aiding to attrition and a couple might just get through. Also, DCS ships needs hit compartments like world of warships. That some ships took 3 hits and continued on as normal because it's based only on a health bar is messing with accuracy.
Day 2 of asking Cap to recreate OPERATION BOLO Led by Col. Robin Olds, OPERATION BOLO used a brilliant deception tactic that destroyed half of the North Vietnamese MiG-21 fighter force, with no USAF losses. In late 1966, the USAF was not permitted to bomb North Vietnamese airfields and could only destroy enemy fighters in the air.
Enjoyed that. Just one question - could you time the launches of the hypersonics so they arrive at the same time a the mach 2 missiles? is it even possible?
And we all know that the United States currently does not have the ability to intercept hypersonic missiles... But he has to set it up this way because most of his UA-cam followers cannot accept the real situation.
The Philippine Navy should introduce a 600mph(1000km/h) torpedo in the water. From Germany and Iran. The super torpedo can sink 6 Chinese aircraft carriers. If a 600mph torpedo is mounted on 100 one-ton small boats, Chinese warships cannot enter in the sea of the Philippines. A large Chinese warship cannot sink this small boat. The Philippines' coast guard ships should also be equipped with super torpedoes.
The simple answer is no. The Philippines need the assistance of other countries such as the US, Australia, Japan, and S. Korea for it to survive an all-out attack from China.
Would also say the point of the exercise was if China could take the Phillipines in a surprise attack, since they failed, regardless of how many ships/planes lost China lost the element of surprise and now has little to no chance of taking them in the future, as well as dragging the US into a war with nothing to bargain with in the future, so this would be almost the worst possible outcome for China, especially since the Leoyang was under fire and taking hits at the end
Those hits on the CV were not valid Cap had to turn off its ability to fire because it was using a russian carrier and they have missiles that China does not have. So it could not defend itself with sams or ciws
@@OG_Mac79 while true, point is still valid, China failed to take the objective with the element of surprise, therefore China lost the engagement, doubtful they would have another shot at it, and when/if they return it would be to a fortified American presence.

Correction: Philippines does have over the horizon anti ship capability since it recently acquired a few batteries of the Indo-Russian BrahMos anti ship cruise missiles.
The sea battle: Blue victory. One red cruiser crippled, likely scuttled if it didn’t sink outright, another damaged by missiles to the face; no blue ships hit, token boat parked on contested islands. The air battle: Blue victory. All red planes shot down, leaving the carrier fleet with no air cover; some blue planes remain, anti-ship strike launched. Overall: Blue victory. Red failed to capture the objective and took significant damage trying.

The 3 Hamilton class we recieved from United States is already upgraded with modern combat management systems and sensors that can now use harpoon anti-ship missiles though the Philippine government has not yet decided if those three Hamilton's will be up armed with missile systems.

What would happen if all the crappy missiles got fired first since you know that the enemy are going to drain their reserves of defensive missiles to take them down? You'd then be left with the high impact weapons being more likely to make it through question mark?
Your plan is the missile swarm tactic but on a budget so it should still work.
The problem is sm-6 is not very crappy. It is extremely expensive and probably would not be used in this manner

No ship would survive till replenishment in such a fight...

the issue remains DCS's simple hitpoint system for ships. At least a ship should start getting disabled much earlier, long before it would be "destroyd". Launchers and stuff are probably out of order after a hit or 2.
Moving that much further up the hitpoint scale should not be impossible at least.
Thankyou for making the missile combat way more realistic. Well demonstrates Defense saturation and “use it or loose it”.
