Having lots of fun in riibalanced, I know that work has mostly stopped but I would love to see some kind of effect behind karts in the new performance mode
I was curious if you had a plan to release a spreadsheet that covers each vehicle, their class, and their stats, as well as the characters' stats.
yo this is much needed, or this game is going to have a lot of flame-runners since that's what players feel the most comfortable with
8:47 as a fighting game player, in a genre where every character plays vastly differently from every other one, usually what i end up doing when learing a new fighting game is trying tons of different characters in training mode, and settling for maybe 2 or 3 different ones to take online and see how they feel to play and settling for just one of them, and then when i become decently proficient with that one character i'll switch to a different one and learn the game from scratch again. in 90% of games i find that switching characters constantly is more fun that just sticking with one, even though it obviously makes it take longer to learn the game as a whole. actually getting good is overrated, having fun with the game is more important.
I’m also here from the FGC. I usually make a decision going into a game about being loyal to a character or playing the whole cast, and I play different games differently as a result
I went into my first Guilty Gear experience as a Zato main in +R. Haven’t changed mains and I still play the same character in Strive.
but when Smash Ultimate came out, I played Lucina for three years and it took me until my first few real tournament sets of that game to realize “yo. i kinda hate playing this character.”
So I changed mains and haven’t looked back.
Normally I stick with characters for a really long time, but if it doesn’t feel right - it’ll take a while - I’ll figure out that I need to swap eventually.
I had a similar experience when switching from xrd to strive, I play leo in xrd so I played him in strive for a few months until I realized I didn't really like his new playstyle, they removed rekka and j236h and overall made it harder to get into backturn, and although they compensated by making his backturn offense even stronger I didn't really like the new stuff he got either, so I dropped the character. Now I play nagoriyuki and I'm having a blast with the game, I likely would've stopped playing if I hadn't made the switch
True I 100% agree. I play Clash Royale and I try to learn every archytpe in the game.
According to the Smash 4 trophy description of the Offroader it apparently gets its name because it is capable of sending other vehicles off the track (thus offroading them) when it makes contact with them, not because of it's offroad stat. I'm surprised the vehicle didn't get a buff to reflect that.
Oh, lol
It was most likely just a translation oversight because I don’t think the vehicle’s name in any of the other languages reference offroad, and because the smash 4 description sounds like a really bad choice to intentionally name it that way
Always found it funny how the Offroader in MKWii only had an above average offroad stat
In Sm4sh Bros. Wii U, the Offroader trophy made Fun of that
@@JJSSBU”You may wonder why this kart is called the Offroader when its off-road ability is so average.” Even sakurai knew 😭
I am a guy that loves rom hacks and I just need to say that it is absolutely incredible to have a resource this well developed on the design philosophy and mechanics behind this mod. Pokemon sees a lot of mods like this where parameters get tweaked to make more characters viable, but you rarely if ever get any explanation for what anything has been retuned to achieve! Having developer explanations and gameplay is super super cool, tysm
Yeah, Ledian with buffed attack and sp. Dfns is a screener or a physical attacker?
Honestly playing this for the first time and choosing Off-roader, and then figuring out it actually has off road was the best discovery lol
8:47 I usually bounce around the entire selection before settling down. Every time I play with a selection I'm rating the characteristics in my head. I end up finding a few options which I like different things about and like to have 2 or 3 options to pick from during a playtime
I think it's amazing you guys made the Offroader actually live up to it's name in this mod.
And I think it's both sad and hilarious that this kart had the worst offroad stat out of the heavy weight karts in vanilla Mario Kart Wii despite this kart being called "The Offroader".
I picked up MKWii again just so I could play this mod, and I'm loving it! Thanks for the vehicle vids - I'm a newb and the commentary helps me understand the intent of the various updates.
9:22 definitely the former for me, for competitive games. So I don't miss out on something I "thought" I wouldn't like but end up enjoying
me encanta este mod, saludos desde Chile!
the offroader looks like something I would like!
seems like a kart equivalent to the magicruiser :D
In things like fighting games, I try out every character just a little, pick a couple that I like and try them out more, then decide on a character to learn. If it seems like it's not working out as I learn them, I find a new character in a similar manner. Later down the line, when I have a good grasp of my character of choice, I will sometimes try to learn other characters too to either cover my bases or verify that I made the right choice in a main. The same principle could be applied to something like this.
I chose to main karts from the get-go because when I was younger I was so used to outside drift that inside drift felt wrong and bad and I could never use it
When I came back I learned how to use it obviously but still decided I was more comfortable with outside drift
So I stuck with the wild wing, then I moved onto the flame flyer, and that's where I stand
REALLY cant wait to try this out. very curious with how the jet bubble was made, since it was one of the childhood favorites of mine
all these analysis videos youre making are very entertaining though, love your content :)
To answer your question about the whole "stick with thing" at 8:47
I personally think one of the funnest things to do is experiment. I play Clash Royale (mobile card game) and have a main deck, but I experiment with other cards and often get fun on doing it. Mario Kart is similar but I can see why you would stick to one kart. Personally however, I would just learn them all so that way i maximize myself in versatility.
Anyone can be a legend at one thing, but the one who learns more can be a true master.
I really hope that there is documentation released for all this… going to dig up my wii U and try to join in! But wanna learn all this
Easy: just wait a few weeks for players to discover the new best character and kart combination 😂 But in all seriousness, I personally would try out a couple of different character and kart combinations and play a few races as each to figure out which one I like the best. I’m kind of in between casual and competitive, but even though I’m nowhere near as good as the top players, I love a good challenge even if I don’t play as a meta combo. This was just a really cool experiment that makes you rethink how you play the game. Shout outs to all the people who made Riibalanced possible and are keeping the MKW community alive and well to this day 💪
Yeah, I thought I would like the Sprinter, yet here I am, being a Baby Booster main XD
(ngl, that is my actual PB on Luigi Circuit)
As a melee player, I'd definitely say that it's more important to play around and find what characters playstyle suits you best instead of grinding out a character whose playstyle doesn't suit you. If you were to grind out jigglypuff for 3 months but you prefer a rushdown, pressure character, all that grinding will be for nothing if you can't play a patient playstyle
I thought I would love the Sprinter yet here I am, being a Baby Booster main XD. But, that is my PB on Luigi Circuit
When I was little, I used to main dk off-roader. Glad to see this vehicle actually be good at offroad
I would try a bunch of different vehicles instead of sticking to one from the start
I think it’s incredible important to try as many combinations as possible. I will never settle down with one combo without knowing for sure that it’s perfect for me
Really interesting! Any chance we could see the Mini-Beast soon? 👉🏻👈🏻
8:44 In Smash, I've been bouncing around several different characters in the past three and a half years. I still don't know which character I'm best at, and I don't want to limit myself, so I keep trying new things. It really just depends on what I feel like playing at the moment, which can change wildly with little notice.
I swear, would take out my savings to pay Nintendo to let you develop MK9
8:47 most games i usually pick one “main” and two secondary picks for my characters/vehucles
I play a lot of smash ultimate, my skills are on the competitive side of the grey area between casual and competitive. I personally jump around from character to character because it's more fun and nothing depends on me being the best that ever was. And that's what I'd reccomend to most fans of competition. I'd then reccomend working on committing to a main once someone decides to be competitive.
cant wait to play the mod one day im motivated to do it
(is it possible with modded tracks or nah? im not that experienced in modding, only watched troys mod tutorial)
When I started playing Smash Bros, I would experiment with different characters all the time, and I still occasionally do, but after trying enough, I settled with Pit very early on. I've been playing him since Brawl, and even though other people will usually put him in a middle tier, I can play him way better than even top tiers. I think it's better to get used to one character/vehicle.
Ah yes, Kogs new menace vehicle
Fun fact about the Offroader: It's a modified version of the Pipe Frame kart from Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart Super Circuit. You can tell by the triangular "wings" on the side and the raised piece of pipe below the exhausts.
All of then are based on just a regular dune buggy
1:01 is it me or does the Fake Item Box's breaking animation is the same as usual ? Like, when it breaks, it sparks red, I would have thought it would be grey or black but after checking it is red, do you think you will change it or is it too minor of a detail for you to care about it or can you simply not change it ? (Tbh it doesn't bother me I just think it would fit better if the sparks were grey or black)
Since downloading the mod, I always stuck to the Daytripper. Since I'm a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe player, I'm very used to the way karts control despite the physics in both games being very different.
Hi arc there is a bug in wario's goldmine where if you fell of during the shortcut it respawn you after the key checkpoint and you have to drive back to the key checkpoint to make the lap count, i dont know if you already know this but im writing this anyway couse it was really frustating when it happened. Thanks for everithing you have done for the mkwii community and i hope you will fix this soon
I'm very aware thanks!
Is it technically possible to have the blooper make your vehicle slippery similar to sherbet land?
The video's thumbnail was definitely one of my favourite on the channel.
More characters and vehicles would be badass
So do characters now give way stronger bonuses into stats? Like DK has a way higher Off-road bonus, but nothing else, and Funky has a really high speed bonus and barely an off-road bonus? Or are the amounts added still similar to vanilla mkw?
when you guys finish making the mod, will there be any plans to allowing us to use the statmod on ctgp?
That would be cool
i've tried it myself before and ctgp doesn't load stat mods at all, probably to prevent online cheating
I think that is up to the people behind ctgp
The drift angle is actually 56, not just 50.
This isn't out right required, but could you add an option in the riivolution menu to put the placement counter back into the bottom left? It can be set default top right, I was just wondering so that the option is there
Vanilla textures
What Are Even This Thumbnails? lol I Love Every Single One Of Them So Far
I'm glad you like them! I spend a lot of time making them XD
@@Arcintel Thank You For Making Them Good Job Keep Going
As the noob I am, I got podium against hard cpu's on riibalanced.
7:05 DK doesn’t have offroad in this version lol
MY LIFE IS A LIE
I play a single combination regardless of tiers
Winger vid when?
Is this possible to get on my Wii U?
If yes, how?
For those of you who don't know, the Wii U has the ability to take Wii disks and play Wii on Wii U.
Is that possible?
If yes, will it permanently change my tracks (because I don't have CTGP yet)
Thank you!
Not sure if I follow your logic at all with the whole ‘rock paper scissors’ idea. You mentioned that heavy vehicles would destroy faster ones if they could keep up, but how could they unless they too were fast? And you don’t even really elaborate at all how a vehicle with better acceleration would beat one with more weight.
splunking
I recommed taking a page out of TF2 and calling them classes and sub-classes
Most fun vehicle in the mod, don't @ me
@Kog'Maw Main :)
Plz do the jet bubble and phantom. Plzzzz 😃
Please show off the wario bike
500th like
Firsties!!
BLUE SHELL BITCH YAAAAA
This mod really needs a written manual explaining all the changes. the discord doesn't help new players. especially when you've mentioned some vehicles have hidden and unique features
