so... to summarise the lifecycle of a golfer. You start your playing life as someone who misses everything to the right. Spend years working that out of your game to a point where you start hitting draws instead of fades. and then spend years trying modify your game to miss the ball right again ... lol
Love this game
Yeah that’s what I went through. Was real bad but I think I’m out of the woods now. Wish I had this video last year haha. Any time a mate of mine says they’d love to be able to draw the ball I tell them it’s too dangerous, forget it!
😂😂😂
@@TheHalo14aus Isn't it funny how, when you start playing golf, the Par 3's are your friend and it feels like they're the only holes you ever par. And then... as soon as you click past a 15'ish handicap ... they're your worst enemy and the breeding grounds of your left miss.
@@brianellis5146 OMG so true.
This is best summary of my lifecycle as a golfer. I’m currently in the phase of now straightening out my overdraw/hook.
It’s actually a struggle for me to hit a fade now, and that was my stock shot for so long. My swing is so much more powerful now and having that foundation of being able to play a draw is definitely a good thing I think.
Honestly, this is why I'm a loyal TXGer. This is better than almost any club review you guys could do. Lessons from Scott and Gareth are changing my game many times more than a new driver or iron. 👍👍
That Gareth lessons are a real game changer for me
Couldn't agree more. I've got Gareth's chipping motion and putting drill with the dots in my head, and now Scott's right shoulder connective move with the right arm. Super grateful to TXG 👍👍👍
I’m going to look up the Gareth videos...my short game is questionable...😜
@@josephwirtz8352 you should! It really change my score on 100 yards in. No more chunk or thin. Love it!
@@chakrasurya7601, I did a search and it looks like there are 8 or so videos of his on TXG. I am looking forward to studying them. I thank you sir!🙌🏼
Don’t usually comment on any videos but talking about the right arm is 100% the most effective way to teach someone unless you are left arm dominant. Just using your right arm in the right way will create your swing. Best instructional video on UA-cam.
Scot Cowx was a pleasure to learn from! I look forward to hearing from him in the future. Thank you all!
Finally somebody explained what was going on with my swing the last 20 years. Thanks to TXG for making these videos.
The content on this channel is mind blowing.
This older video will now be my "go to" over and over again. Holy moley. I fight a flippy hand over hook and the spoon tucked in bicep curl combo'd with the back of the right hand coming down to my left thigh is a revolution. Every bit of that visual works in my brain. TXG never disappoints.
i have fought a hook for my entire golfing career! always been a flipper and picker of the ball, so I found a coach this winter and we've been working on the same thing Ian! we have not done the spoon drill, but will tomorrow at my lesson. love it and please more of this content, club reviews are good, but this will last forever with me.
Scott Cowx the coaching legend 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
As someone who has battled an over draw/hook his whole life, I feel like this video was made for me! Great job guys!!!
Same here.
Congatulations, TXG is one of the rare instruction channels to address the Draw/Hook problem in favor of the Slice like the 99%.
Brilliant video! Please sir, can I have some more.
Yessss! Been having lessons with Scott for 6 months or so now, honestly don't think there's anyone in the world that understands the golf swing and it's relationship with anatomy better than this man. Awesome vid!!
Just pure gold! The first time I actually understand what Pete Cowen is trying to say when he is cryptically talking over and over again about loading the shoulders without telling us why and how.
So good. Would love to see Scott teach the a soft draw too. Keep the good stuff coming!
Have been a NASCAR for many years now, this video could be a game changer, thank you for the quality content!
this video was even helpful to me as a fader really think about why it’s happening and hopefully can use this to make it a more consistent fade.
saw this video uploaded this morning before I played a round. Decided not to watch it until after, just incase it would put ideas into my head to try out on the course. After playing today and now having watched the video, it could have come in handy!
$$$ video! I love when instructors guide thru feels and finish to drive swing changes.... albeit Ian is much more aware of his swing than us mere mortals, but will try to incorporate this one!
Top tier info. Explaining from a biomechanical perspective really helped me a lot. Thank you for the quality content TXG. This is good stuff
Okay so this is probably the best video I’ve watched on UA-cam. I’ve been playing a draw/hook, struggled with misses off the toe a lot and inconsistent contact for the past 6 months. Went to the range this afternoon and worked on this drill just hitting 6 iron over and over and by the end of my hour range session was hitting a perfect high baby fade with a straight shot as a miss. All I can say is wow, keep putting content like this up please :)
Right shoulder to cover the ball is really good thought process ... liked the video good one very detailed !
Love it when you have the guests.
This is the issue I was having all weekend!! Thanks for the lesson; hitting the range after work!
I had a couple lessons with friend of the channel Mac Boucher last year to work on a similar thing to rid myself of the flip. I definitely noticed a big change in peak height. I'll have to watch this again and pair all the advice together
Thank you Ian for doing this with Scott. Getting better is what it's all about. Thanks again!
Love these types of videos!
Ian, our swing tendencies are VERY similar. I loved the feeling of the bicep curl. Please give a thank you from me to the gentleman assisting you today. I instantly face control, rotation with solid slight left to right flight! Fantastic post!
One of the coolest videos you guys have done, love it!
Fantastic. I've been playing around with that elbow position ever since Ian mentioned it and this ties it all together.
Awesome - keep these videos coming! I really need this. Can't wait to try the drill.
Great video! I'd love to see more like this.
One of the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen! Thank you sincerely!
I didn’t think I needed to know how to hit a fade, but most of my misses are hooks off the toe or pushes/blocks so now I know why and how to fix it. Great video as always! So many great nuggets to come back to again later
That's a great lesson. Really like Scott Cowx's approach to coaching.
Great video!!! Changing path that much in a couple of swings is brilliant. This is such a simple feel for something that is very complex to accomplish.
I've watched this video at least 10 times and as someone who has hit the overdraw/hook all of my life this is exactly what I need. I've never heard of hitting a fade in the same manner as described here but my initial focus on using these drills has resulted in some initial success. There seem to be three or four really good concepts that stand out to me from this video and I'm really excited to go out and practice this more. Thanks TXG and Scott Cowx. I would love to get a lesson from you!
Wow what a great explanation. Can’t wait to work on this.
Loved Scott Cowx's low tech and simplistic teaching. How good is he! Everything he said resonates with me.
Great video Ian 👍👍
#txgkicksarse #wellwishesformatty
Such amazing and very simple information. Such a KISS informative video, great job!
I’ve been making this exact swing change on my own. This broke it down so simply and will help out a lot!
Thanks TXG!
Very timely instruction. Had a lesson this afternoon on this very issue. Brilliant video by you and Scott.
Quality instruction. The pivot is key. Working to get rid of my handle raising ways as well Ian. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing content. Thank you so much for this video.
Great info! Perfectly explained . Thank you Scott!
Wow this has been absolutely great. Would love to see more of these types of vids. Bringing the data into them is such great knowledge. This year I’m fighting the hook and this drill has been just oh so good for me. Such a different feeling that feels so abnormal that it rly sticks
Ian, this was so helpful. Scott's demonstration of the arm movement and description of the feel (like the back of the right hand hits the left thigh in the downswing) alone was worth the price of admission. Oh wait...it was free...Now I feel like I stole something! - Dave
This is insanely good information and content. Just when I think this channel has gotten as good as it can get, it gets a little better. Hope to see more collabs with Scott in the future!
Thanks Ian and Scott, this drill is incredible for someone like me who fights a hook ! 👏🏻
Excellent instruction! I’ve been working on a fade and this just solidified the thought. Thanks Scott!
Of all the videos, this is my favorite. Ian, I have the same issues you do and this is exactly what I’m trying to accomplish...a fade with the irons! Never been more excited to hit a ball and put these concepts to work!!! Thank you!
Great video, I have been working on this myself, focusing getting more “around the corner”, this is a refining thought to my action adding great intent.
Had to watch this twice, what great information!
This is definitely me over drawing I my new miss. Will definitely give this a try thanks again boys
Good episode Ian! Great tips from Scot. I've struggled for a long time hooking the ball. Will try some of these tips to get the club out to in
Hi Ian gave it a shot on Thursday and got my second Ace on a 140yrd par 3..hit a PW with a baby fade one bounce and role in..thanks again for the lesson.
Great video. Love the visuals and feels. Gonna work on this tomorrow at the range!
I must try this for my fairway and hybrids! Thanks for the instruction and explanation!
Great stuff, Ian. This is just what I've been working on as I fight the in to out path and flipping the club to a high finish. Hearing another way to think about the motion (bicep curl, slapping the left thigh with the back of the trail hand) really helps. Can't wait to go to the range and try this.
That is an absolutely wonderful drill, tried it this evening and it worked a treat 👍😍 so good and so simple. Thanks Ian and thanks Scott 👍
TXG. Wow! What an great video. It has really helped me as an “Over the Top” Swinger of all clubs. My driver and irons have never flown this straight in 10 years of playing. Thank you for the knowledge Scott Cowx! Thanks TXG! You are the best on UA-cam!
Ian’s first strike with the spoon sounded really flush. What a great drill.
One of your best videos ever!
This is phenomenal stuff. Will be putting this to work immediately
Eye openers. Thank you for this. I've big hook issues with irons even with flat lie angles and now know the reason why.
WOW. WOOWW. WOW. Right arm/elbow movement never explained to me like this before EVER. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I have already watched this upload a couple of times and like the Raflewski sessions it’s not just nuggets it liquid gold flowing end to end.
Outstanding. Talking about touching the left thigh with the BACK of the right hand seemed counterintuitive, requiring a contortionist. But watched several times, understood better, and put it into practice this week at the driving range. One thing I really like was that thinking of the hands and arms an shoulders in the way Scott explains not only forces one to make a good pivot, it makes it much easier and more natural to do so, making a full turn with weight on the left heel. Getting the hips cleared is one of the hardest things for seniors and mid to high handicappers like me to do. All those lessons about "firing" the hips leads to thinking of the hip turn as a separate, explosive move, not as one element of a smooth, coordinated swing, and that actually can mess up your swing, leave the hands behind, lead to early extension, exaggerated release of the right hand over the left, and other faults. Scott's advice does more than teach how to hit a fade. For most average golfers like me, getting the arms in close, keeping the right wrist in extension for longer, and making a good pivot leads to better contact and higher, straighter and longer shots. If it also leads to a baby fade, that's fine. But its great advice for a good swing in general. Thank you.
This is me!!! All my buddies hit everything right. I am Mr four left. I have been golfing for only 10 months. As I have gotten better I started hitting straight and then bad shots left. My trail elbow must be too inside. I am glad to see a drill that helps us hookers. I will certainly have a spoon in my armpit. 🤣 Please post more videos that help out people who hook left. Not much video content out there for us.
This was excellent... Bravo!
This is an excellent video and I love the content. The lessons are a nice addition to the equipment information. This swing pattern is me. Going to grab a spoon and head to the range.
Great video.. cant wait to get back on the range and try this!
Awesome video Ian.
You have just changed my game forever!
Okay, big thank you to Ian and Scott for this video. I played for the first time in months today, arrived late and straight to the first tee-box. I couldn't keep anything from ripping out of control left most of first 10 holes and remembered seeing this video and thought what the heck...give the bicep curl feeling a shot. I hit the ball so much better! Turned my game completely around. Will need to get some range time to experiment some more but felt like it freed me up to just swing hard without worrying about the smother hook. Muchas Gracias!
Fantastic explanation and drill.
Wow, what a lesson, from one of the hottest coaches in the world. Thanks so much!!
Dude. Back of the hand, thigh, bicep curl. Tremendous help for me, THANK YOU
Really good and atleast new ideas which I can’t wait to test myself 👍🏻 excellent content!
Been a long time early extender/flipper and this video was great. I use an alignment stick cover instead of a spoon but every time I come back to this drill I start hitting it with the proper pressure and loft through the ball. Neutralises my ballflight and makes it bore through the air more.
Great content
Thanks a lot scott... It really works...awesome
Definitely going to be taking this one to the range with me, don't hit a hook but think it'll really help my consistency of strike. Awesome content as always!
I have needed this explanation my whole life! Haha thank you
Definitely going to try this. Been wanting to try the fade out and see if it's better for me.
great video!
This is was literally everything wrong with my swing and showed the fix, it’s like you made the video with my name in the title. Easily liked and subscribed. I’m going to the range asap.
Right arm stuff is brilliant!
Such a great video. I am a pretty decent ball striker, but struggle with the hook some days. Thanks for this one!
So good. Thanks!!!
Thanks! Going to try on range. Even though it’s a fade drill it sure seemed like Ian was happy with the strike and feel.
This may have saved my golf game. Soooo effective!
Love It! I feel like you made this video for me
One of the best coaches out there
Scott and TXG thank you for the video. Even as a slicer I appreciate these drills and thoughts as it is always great to add some variety and spice to practice sessions. Now if we can get TXG to add a logo hockey bag to the store so we can show up to the range with all our training gear including a few spoons. 👍
Hey Ian, my path is out to in about 6 degrees. I have plenty to give away :-). Great video. Keep up the great work.
Nice video!
More Mr. Cowx on TXG!
This is amazing advice
Great Stuff thank you! That is me. Get a little underneath, rolling those wrist through the ball, handle raising, flatter lies, the whole nine yards! When the timing is off misses are left or a big push dead right. Love the idea of the back of the hand to the thigh in a reverse curl. Putting a spoon in the bag now..lol. I’ve been coached on trying to keep the club head outside the hands which is trying to accomplish the same thing I suppose. These moves FEEL like you are so drastically out to in but then on camera it looks nothing like it felt!
Super excited to try this move. What I’m really interested in is how this will affect my wedges and especially driver
