Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 22 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. SMOKE AND MIRRORS!!!
Great video. I detect in North Carolina and am amazed at the amount of aluminum junk I find in farm fields. You were lucky that the weather was cool. The ant hill you stuck your hand in was a fire ant mound. They are not that active unless the temperature is around 60 degrees or higher. It only takes one fire ant to get up your pant leg and you won’t have any problem dropping your drawers right in the field. I know from experience.😅
Who wouldn’t want their picture taken with someone like you? Thanks for your help and enjoyed our conversations
Great video Merrill!!! An honest depiction of a club hunt!!! You Sir are the best choice of an Ambassador for a Detector Brand that I've ever viewed!! Just plain fun Merrill!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Honored Ray! Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes the struggle is real! But it never stops being fun!
@@MetalDetectingNYCXP made a smart choice to choose you as its representative.
It was great seeing you again Merrill! ✌️
You too Rae!
At 9:00, a scattering of metal in a large open field, at least in the eastern Midwest, is usually where a farmer tore out a fence row and burned the barbed or woven wire in a brush fire to destroy the iron. The iron doesn't melt, but makes it rust faster. Large open fields were not the norm pre 1900 in most areas except in the large expanses of the prairie. Rolling land had rows of fence and trees as it was better suited to the equipment at the time, pasture rotation, and to keep erosion in check. Henry Wallace brought back the practice of fence rows in the flat lands of Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, ect. in the 1930s to combat the effects of the dustbowl. I'm not sure if fence rows were ever planted in the South, though. Your video had a huge amount of very good information and I look forward to new posts about the DEUS. Thanks and have a good day.
Hey Merrill, It was great meeting you in person and enjoyed speaking with you at the hunt. You are a great choice for being an ambassador for XP and it would be great to get together sometime when your back in Florida to hunt the treasure coast.
I get a kick out your vids and I have picked up some great tips from them.
Thanks,
Jay
UNDERSTANDING the texture of the ground is so important
When you worry about your booth more than detecting.... You've been co oped... GO DIG... GO GO GO GO
When you do finally get to England I hope we meet
Your energy and teaching's have totally changed my thoughts on metal detecting
Where I live I am surrounded by 1000s of farm land and now I've got my own 330 acre's so time will tell
Regards Tony
Merrill, I love your enthusiasm! It's all about the journey -- the finds are just the frosting on the cake.
YES IT IS! It is about the journey and loving the process! If you love the process the outcome is secondary!
My first Digstock, and I got a picture with you also! It was a blast! Great video!
Awsome video once again Merrill!
Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Hey Merrill, I found one of those Boy Scout shoe tokens from 1910 in Seattle a couple months ago. It’s a nice find. Mine didn’t have the “good luck” on the back but don’t feel bad about symbol. Before it was “rebranded” in WWII by rotating it sideways, it was a good luck symbol on many products including an early 1900’s car token I found that was originally packaged in cigar boxes. Nice old token find! BTW, one of the “whaaaats dat” finds is a partial battery terminal. Probably lead and good to remove from the environment. Cheers
More about that symbol: it was traditional in both Native American and Asian culture for generations -- nothing nefarious in nature.
@@momtrips6783 correct. I found a gold ring last year that had a Native American symbol as a mint mark which also resembles it but I believe thay called it a “star burst”. Also, many Asian religious worship spots or temple sites here on the west coast will have them as decorations on the gates and entry ways.
"Some days chicken , some days feathers" ....Keep digging
Thank you BigToe!
Nice work Merrill, really looking forward to using that sweeper program
Shotgun head stamps can be a great find some going back to 1880’s. Umc club is one of the first in the USA. Around 1909 or so the head stamps had umc rem. That is when Remington merged with umc.
Thanks for sharing, looks like a great weekend with some great detectors and detectorists, and amazing finds !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
They’re actually for Boy Scout Brand shoes made by the Excelsior Shoe Company. I’ve got a section in my upcoming relic book on luck tokens such as these (and including encased “never go broke” cents and elongated coins.
Oh wow! When is the ETA for your book?
Great video as always Merrill! I am still suffering from my back injury and I cannot dig with the shovel but I go to the playground park to have some fun, I wish to be there. it's so fun even to watch your adventure, thank you for sharing Merrill!
The 15 inch target is a led battery terminal and your timex took a licking but didn’t keep on ticking. Lol
I forgot to put a clear picture of the gold coin in this video. Here it is: ua-cam.com/users/shorts6RrS9BPg2O4
thanks for sharing and way to hang in there figuring it out! the coin was a cool find and hope it brings you much luck.
Thank you!!!
Awesome content as usual ! Thanks again 👍
Thank you!
Fantastic as always Merrill.
Thank you!
Thanks for vid.
Awesome video thank for sharing with us Merrill .
Thank you!
Great video!
Hi Merrill, I think both of the small mystery items are grub screws. The second regulates oil flow, maybe?
Great video Merrill, I actually grew up about 10 miles from Pinetops. All the shotgun head stamps are coming from Dove hunting in the fields after the corn is picked. I’m sure someone local shared that but if not that’s we’re all those…as we call them 12th gauge artillery buttons come from. You and Keith are doing an amazing job for XP. Take Care
I didnt know that! Thank you CW Hunter!
I don’t mind the longer videos or the digging of junk especially on this channel. There is something to be learned here, mainly that detecting has an endurance factor. Meaning if you want the treasure be prepared to spend a lot of time digging junk.
I appreciate that! That is absolutely true, it often takes a lot of digging! And I will add, don't get lazy on the research like I did this time. It was my first event and I had the booth on my mind but, prepare to research and prepare to dig!
Great vid, It will be interesting if we see a Bojangles unlock. 🤣
Oh they need to come to New York!!!
Merrill thank you again for all that you do .proud of you as always bud. N.t. nor cal ca. The gold country.
Thank you so much!
Still waiting for my first gold coin. Well done on handling your fame so well! Best wishes for wet windy darkest Lancashire, England.
At the 17:30 mark you have a cable end to the battery connector
Thank you for the ID
Looks like a great time Merril. GLHH
Amazing time!
That was fun and interesting. Boy Scouts 1910 well I had hopes it was a old coin but still it was a cool find. Those digs where detectors come from all over are fun great meeting people from all over the map. ❤
Yes! I am looking forward to more events like this. This was my first!
Enjoyed this video, thanks!
Thank you!!!
I wish I’d have known you were there. Been watching your videos for a while. I was there.
Salute!
At 20:43 that’s a bleeder bolt like what they use on a wheel cylinder to bleed the brakes
When you were thinking about those people, Google heard your thoughts. Then Google used the force and subtlety suggested to them that they call you. Wah la. 😊
Great hunt, we love our BoJangles in NC
ME TOO!!!! It was AMAZING !!!
Nice!!👍🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
A tree in the school play was fun ....😆
Great video Merrill, glad to see you got to hunt and get into an iron patch. When I locate one, inland or otherwise, I “circle the wagons”, which is to say I swing concentric circles around the area until I get an idea of how big it is and see if I can stumble on a non-ferrous target screaming to get out. 😂 Then I find it’s best to grid just in case you have some masking going on.
Thanks for the tips!
That piece you pulled out you thought was some type of bullet,, as soon as I seen it I recognize it to be a bleeder screw off a brake system automotive or tractor.
Now I'm gonna be saying "Waaat dis?" every time I dig up a mystery object. 😅
Whaat Dis???????
At 17:24 that is battery post clamp or half of one
I found my first one last week here in Georgia. Mine was same symbol on one side but Wonder Motor Oil Co on reverse. Good luck token, go figure 🤷♂️
Trey?? What are you doing here??
Great video, Merrill. I've missed your humor. Can anybody go to Digstock?
Yes! It’s an event that happens twice per year as I understand. That depends on Digstock securing permissions
Hello Merrill from Arizona. Love the from metals to lead to Häagen-Dazs to sushi. And some Taco Bell. Damn now I’m hungry but the point I need a list of the best pin pointers you could think of or a video do need some help. talk to you soon. Off to Dunkin’ Donuts.
Thank you Tim. Im not really rating detectors anymore since becoming an ambassador at XP, but the MI-6 syncs with the remote and headphones (and can be controlled and adjusted from the remote or WS6 screen). When you sync it you can hear it in your headphones. If you ever lose it, there is a mode that will make it sound off until you find it (set from remote). It doesn't take batteries, it has an internal rechargeable battery. Link: shrsl.com/4fu0t
@@MetalDetectingNYC Hello Merrill form Arizona .Wow that is one video you need to do Merrill .I like to see how that one work out .like that video of the one person unlocking the Sushi that day what a great find . Hope you have some great luck to I will chat with you soon i will be looking at getting a new Detector soon have a good night more to find tomorrow
Battery terminal 17:24 I found its mate in the middle of that field!LOL!
or maybe other half?
Your videos are awesome. Im right next door in Mass. Lets dig!!!! Lol
On a serious note however....love the vids. Keep it up. Your going to be HUGE
Cool hunt brother.Today I am buying a coil for my deus2 puck. I had one bought already but I waited 5 days for the store to send it It never sent it got my money back.... Hopefully by next monday or tuesday I will be up and beeping. Thanks for sharing.
Which one did you wind up getting? For me the 9 inch coil really shocks me with the depth. I was not expecting that..
@@MetalDetectingNYC I got the 11 I have a ORX with 6x9 I will use it for my smaller coil as it works exceptional for me. I am encorperating a ws6 puck to my ORX cheeting lol Found out after buying a puck that you can't use deus1 or ORX coils miner snag... Well I got it all figured out. now I'M shopping for external speaker lol. Next I might buy another stem. Then I will have 2 separate detectors. Did I save money? YES I shopped all prices. I missed on a good deal on a coil would of broke the bank and saved 100 bucks . I got outbid ran out of time. As is I saved right at 100 dollars over a ws6 compleat set up. including upper stem . with out the speaker. speaker cost 15 to 50 dollars. And the ws6 master DETECTOR DON'T COME WITH EXTERNAL SPEAKER.. so it don't count as it is a add on. and Yes I got the external jack plate and the puck mount lol all ready to rock as soon as I get the coil. Crazy huh? I can use the money I saved for gas to get me there hahahahahaha.
@@zzzzzzzzzzaper interesting!!!!
@@MetalDetectingNYC The money saver was the ws6 puck headphones hella deal on them. 200 dollars. made the difference they were new never used. Yes the calculator came online ..... when I seen it come up. as was at the time I thought I could use the orx coil I would of saved 3 to 4 hundred dollars but I'LL take the 100. since the orx coil won't work. And yes I got a stellar deal on the ORX I BOUGHT IT FOR 306 DISPLAY model. I didn't get hurt there at all. I could tell you about my Legend deal too but you are an X/P Man now......... But I will tell you this. The Legend is a coin smashing son of a gun. As is the ORX. The difference is the ORX gets the Jewelry along with the coins even when the legend went over the ground 1st. The ORX is a better machine. All there is to it hands down.....There you can use that X/P MAN......🤔😁😁😁
New subsciber and beach hunter here. Seeing as you are the youtube sushi master what would you buy, a equinox 600 or a legend? I looked at your reviews and am on the fence. I bought a cheapo unit and need to upgrade. Will be on a saltwater beach in rhode island. Thanks for your video's, very informative
Look like a great time. Surprised you didn’t go to the Florida hunt. But I live about 110 miles from pine tops in southern Virginia. And I still find 100’s of shotgun head stamps. And pieces of lead.
I wish that Florida hunt wasnt the same weekend. I would have loved to have gone there!
Can understand. Maybe next year they will be different weekends.
Idk about the deus ii. But in the equinox 600. The head stamps rings up about the same as a nickel. Between 11-13. I have had some of the older stamps ring up around 19. So those are a must dig. Bc you just never know what it will be.
@@JusDirtfishin nobody knows regardless of the detector. You have to dig them. They are coin sized and shaped and thus give off that coin sound. We can infer all that we want but the gold coin rang up at 71 on the Deus 2. I had so many stamps ring up at that number!!! 🤣
I totally agree with you. Those are a must dig. I have a nice collection of head stamps. I never made a video of it. But there was one hunt I dug over 25 stamps.
Oh my gosh I wish I know you were here in north carolina. I would love to have met you in person. Hopefully I'll get to one day. And I am so glad that you really enjoyed Bojangles. But we have another restaurant. That's a barbecue place and it's called Smithfield's. And I think you would fall in love with them too.
Next time!
Small to medium sized pocket knives on the legend is around 30 and up
You will be in Arkansas in October? Can you provide event details? Thanks!
Next time, can you givel us a heads up before the event takes place?
I want to find that 12 Reale!
It was a holed 12 Reale!

Merril my friend, I want to thankyou for your unbiased opinions on all detectors, unfortunately calabash called it a day, finished. Ok Merrill my special question is, obviously on a budget, I’ve watched and read many thing, the xp deus 2 remote version is over my price line, so I’m looking at the xp deus 2 master 6 puck version, difference is smaller functionality, external speaker, maybe a little different something, but you’ve said comparing ford to Chevy or something. I take your opinions very seriously, do both work equally considering those cosmetic differences, it is a if price difference, but give me your honest opinion, what year where they both produced also and updates still , thankyou sir.
The deep thing looked like half a battery clamp for a vehicle
Thank you for the ID
👏 👏 👏
That looks like the hammer to an old double barrel shotgun. A lot of the older shotguns were made from cast parts so folks could afford them.
I was detecting an 1870s property and got a 39 on my vanquish, pulled, I saw a rim, I though it was a trade or Morgan, IT WAS A TOKEN…
Just this morning I noticed your Lady Liberty Ani is swinging a Tesoro Vaquero. 😎👍
Do you have any Tesoros or accessories around that you're willing to let go?
I leant all of my detectors to Indiana Tones so that he could continue the work I was doing before joining XP.
I have not had a chance to look at your complete library of videos ! Have you done some Tesoro stuff ? I have a umax, sand shark, and some other assorted things ! Been on hold quite a while on detecting and looking to get back into it ! Thanks 😊
@@ITSFUNZ I have a Bandido 2 uMax. I started in 1985 with a Bounty Hunter VLF/TR 840. Found lots of silver on Guam. Coveted a digital detector for several decades. After using a couple of Minelabs(Xterra 705 & Equinox 800) I prefer analog. I get a geeky thrill unmasking targets. Saving for a Nexus!
I have found a good luck token. The non good luck symbol is never displayed flat always on always on an angle. Congrats
23:00 is that really a tongue depressor? I found something exactly like that near an old coal mine from the 1800s.
No I was being silly. I watched Aquachigger for so many years and I’m always amazed at how he could ID objects so easily. I know that there are a lot of knowledgeable people in my audience so I lean on them.
@MetalDetectingNYC Haha no worries! I love your humor, but that one I couldn't tell if you were kidding or not. I feel like it's probably something to prop up a shelf, but I really don't know.
Quick question Merrill, I copied down the Sweeper settings, but, he didn't say what program it's based off of. Can you tell us?

That looks like the screw that goes in the bowl on a carborator.
Piece of rebar?
It's not brought in soil it is used up soil from farming. All the nutrients are gone, and is why they HAVE to use fertilizers. It once looked like the soil in the wooded area/
Go through Pinetops on way to Outer Banks. Had no idea such rich history around there. Always drool at those old homeplaces you see in the fields.
I was drooling while I was driving!!!
it really exists a metal detector that finds 1 coin more than 2 meters deep? I have the garret ace400i but this one only goes 40cm deep, it doesn't work for me
and its not a bulled its some kind of machinery screw
That mystery item looked like half of a broken battery terminal. Stay dirty 👍

Hey your getting a ton of commercials... There's always that
You are a Magician, Merrill, and I respect you 💯. But overlaps pay off big time when you swing that coil! Not being a Karen but you miss tons with a zig zag swing. You said in the video that tips are coming in next video. You also mentioned in XP trip video that you never noticed uptilt on end of swing. PPPPPP look it up. You are the man but I practiced and hope you do as well! Love your vids and commentary always but you need to not go go go unless you go slow slow slow! Deus will allow you to forward March at speed but with overlapping swings. Imagine...like you do in your tutorial videos which help so many...how much "ionic discharging, electron swapping, haloing material" your swing is bypassing. You are intellectual and astute and have a knack 4 teaching us all.
Take it 4 what it's worth but my success increased greatly by both practice and patience and I sincerely love your channel and wish you the very best!
