As a native Floridian, boiled peanuts are a way of life here. However, we don't eat the canned ones, like, at all. The ones made at produce markets and by vendors on the side of the road are the way to go. Especially the cajun-flavored boiled peanuts. OMG!

In the shell, no less. Wouldn't want to shell them first. Peanuts do need to be cooked before eaten, and most of us don't realize that the peanuts we devour in all forms are usually roasted, not boiled. But they are cooked. Notice: the chipmunk knows not to eat the shell.
