A miraculous performance. That is hard and long. It's Franz Liszt. It takes stamina snd technical aplomb. A good tempo so we can actually decipher each note. You did this smooth. Beautiful voicings.

The best performance of this great work I have heard for years, tempo, registration, to perfection, the light has come into the work, just great musicality ,Joan, would love to hear you perform Reubke C minor on the 94th Psalm

    •  Рік тому +2

Thanks for your amazing review! Indeed, Reubke is in my to do list (already started practicing it), however I'm not having enough time lately to work on such a big piece...

Most organists perform this piece at speed to show off their impressive technical abilities, but Joan's disciplined control of tempi gives us a fresh interpretation allowing the detail to shine through, capturing the spirit of what I suspect Liszt wanted us to hear. Congratulations.

Wirklichg toll!! Vielen Dank für diese Aufnahme!

I love the way you interpret the piece with attention to the underlying text. So many people play this piece more to demonstrate their ability to charge through it with as much speed as possible. Nice to hear an organist who gives attention to the underlying message of the music more than a demonstration of technical skill; this is real art. Albert Schweitzer played in this manner and often bore criticism for paying more attention to the text of the chorale than a demonstration of his technique. This is artful playing.

this is what i'd need tenth of years to understand, Liszt music is so complex... i absolutely love J.S.Bach's BWV 565, but this is way, waaay harder (and not that so pop, ofc), so it should be heard many, many times to get it...
btw, could someone explain me the difference of that 4 rows of keys? looks like it's almost the same pitch, but just another "voice" (not to mention other buttons that changes this setting) - this intrigued me all the time ;)

    •  Рік тому +2

Every keyboard has a different set of "sounds" (also on the pedals) and I can select them and combine them with the "buttons" that you can see. That's a very fast and easy explanation, but I think it can help you to understand how an organ works.

Indeed, it's the Cromorn. On the recording it sounds a bit too present.

@ thats a very unique sounding cromorn. it sounds very warm but still reedy and still has this unique overtone spectrum.

Sehr gut gespielt, aber der Orgelklang ist etwas "breiig" - dieses Instrument ist nicht ideal für Deutsche Romantik ! Zu viele Zungen im Einsatz (Orlos)

It’s amazing though, how well he uses a baroque style instrument to meet some of the romantic challenges.
