    Wonder if active crossovers are possible in this system? Passive crossovers can only do so much, but active crossovers are next level.

      Yes, they are, and guess whose got 5 different active crossovers and multiple amps ?

      I’ve had active for decades. I simply can’t believe so many audiophiles are deaf, dumb and blind to the hamstrings (dynamics, phase, damping factor, timing) of Godawful passive crossovers.
      One studio grade DSP and multiple power amps - done.
      (The dsp will have 6-8 channels of dacs, so multiple (separate) stereo dacs are optional.

      Unfortunately most audiophiles associate active speakers with a class d amp inside a shaking speaker enclosure - the folk that sell this don’t deserve better recognition.

      @@n.lyndley.9889 active crossover and active speaker are 2 completely different things. Google it.

    Better than the TAD? Comparable to the big rig?

    • @OCDHIFiGuy
      @OCDHIFiGuy  11 місяців тому +1

      Incomparable. Bigger scale, obviously. Mids are not as tasty, but still very good, and approaches the big rig. Will need to wait for break in to determine how close in the end.

    Wow, those beauties sound as good as they look!!
    It's a shame slate weighs so much. Eventhough it no doubt reproduces fantastic sound, just too heavy for my needs 😢

      Why ? Your floors can't hold 350 Lb ? You can't hire help to put them in ? Once they are set, they don't move. I never understand this comment about too heavy. Do you need to move them every day ? Please help us understand...

      Hell if I know.. Dunlavy and Duntech used to do this..

    • @dragocelander6671
      @dragocelander6671 11 місяців тому +3

      John Dunlavy developed his Duntech and Dunlavy designs based on theoretical papers he wrote about wave propagation theory from antennas. In all cases, Dunlavy used a symmetrical vertical arrangement of drivers with the tweeter in the center of the array and increasingly larger drivers above and below the tweeter position. Typically, a W-M-T-M-W driver configuration was used.
