  • Who enjoys a good watercolor swatching? At regular speed?? I know I do! After reviewing the footage, it looked like a good opportunity to create a chill, voiceless ‘Relax and Swatch’ video. Apologies to those who were looking forward to some chatter, but as I didn’t have a whole lot to say, this seemed like the better option. Please enjoy the feast of colors! ~ Irene

      I don't often have a use for rough paper, but this Shizen texture is really interesting. I'd like to do more projects on it.

    So pretty! I learned my lesson swatching from the big dot card. Use those suckers fresh from the tube!

    Thank you for the large swatches so we can really see the colors but also for swatching them out on rough paper. This is where the primateks REALLY shine! I have them all and love them! ❤

      Oh good! I'm glad it worked well enough to show these off properly. Do you have a favorite color?

    Their Lapis Lazuli is absolute murder to rewet! Sodalite and Bloodstone are real favourites for me. Yavapai, Purpurite, Mayan Blue, Green Apatite and Amazonite are quite a few colours I would add to my collection, lol. A useful video to help choose which ones to get. 😄

      I have the Green Apatite & Amazonite=they are gorgeous.I was putting my small collection of Primateks in a tiny tin. Decided to give the Lapis Lazuli another go. It worked beautifully! I think it's because of the truly terrible humidity here in so Georgia..It now stays moist. I know it's been a year since I gave it a try

      I always add a drop of water to the paint and let it sit a few minutes before diving in and it helps tons. Give it a try...the colors are so beautiful 😍

      Thanks! It was tempting to cut out all of the dot-scrubbing, but I figured it would show people how much work is involved to activate these paints. A lot of your favorites are my favorites, too. 🤪 TWINSIES!

    I have had a few but have a hard time not knowing the ingredients. I liked a couple especially the Bloodstone Genuine and checked the MSDS sheet and it said hazardous to all aquatic life. And I was upset that my genuine amethyst was mostly Carbazole violet and my amazonite also is mostly a regular palette color. I use DS wc but because of not knowing all the ingredients in the primatek line and hazardous materials I learned how to do many dupes with granulation fluid and granulating mixes. It’s worth the learning. I enjoy using very finely ground mica paired with 2 colors that separate. I really enjoy the process and used to grind my own wc. It is relaxing and many combinations can be used. I still use cobalt and cadmium products because their disposal doesn’t cause near the issues and cadmiumless wc was made to appease some artists when the amount is completely minuscule compared to wiping out aquatic life. It certainly is a personal decision for all artists and I don’t judge anyone for what they prefer.

      I admit I don't usually think of possible toxicity. 😬 I should be more aware of these things. I always get lovely results with your mixing suggestions.

    Thanks for the swatches! Some are really hard to rewet, it seems so hard. Sodalite was the paint that got me into granulating pigments XD I recently got Piemontite too. These are all so pretty, I enjoy swatching them wet-in wet with a lot of water.

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 роки тому

      Yeah, there were several that were hardly worth the effort. But most were really lovely, I think. Sodalite is definitely one of the 'stars' of this set.

    I m thinking to make a note book fill with color as my color dictionary too. But still not sure if oil painting looks in paper are same as in canvas 😁

    • @INCWorks
      @INCWorks  3 роки тому

      I hadn't thought about oil paint swatching - could be tricky. I don't suppose anyone sells canvas books for that purpose?

    I love how sleeping beauty turquoise totally kicks the ass of lapis lazuli in terms of pigmentation, it's like having to give your presentation right before the overachiever lol. I suppose it's better than having to go right after.

      It probably has a phthalo color added to it 😬 It was revealed recently that Daniel Smith's Prima Tek line is only partially authentic minerals, but they don't list other pigments on the tubes.

      @@libbyandbrianbundrick3270 I wasn't terribly surprised by it tbh, I would imagine it's the only way to keep colors consistent across batches especially when the minerals are sourced from several countries. it's a bummer, but hey, what can ya do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
